  1. I gained almost 10 pounds when I got home from the hospital from all the fluids. Also, I wanted to KILL my fiance (also for shrimp alfredo!) because it smelled so good. In the beginning, I really struggled with wanting what food other people had just because I couldn't have it, not because I actually wanted to eat it. :biggrin0: It goes away though! Keep doing what you're doing & it will start falling off!

  2. Thanks Alex ! ! ! I actually figured out a way to avoid it. I decided to switch over to Mozilla Firefox, and haven't had the hyperlinks showing up in the threads.

So, for anyone else that finds it annoying. You may want to go that route to avoid them all together. I'm excited to see the overhaul you've mentioned.

Hmm...did you change any default settings to get them to not appear? I use firefox and some of them are still hyperlinks. :)

  3. I've been frustrated with hunger also. There's no way I can stick to just 3 meals a day. In the mornings I feel like a bottomless pit and have a hard time making it to lunchtime. I'm often hungry 1-2 hours after a meal. I've been on either pepcid or prilosec since day one, so I think acid is not the issue. I was so hoping the switch from mushies to solids would take care of the problem, but nope, still hungry all the time. I've lost 24lbs since surgery (after almost 8wks) which I'm fine with...sort of hoping that slow weight loss might prevent hair loss? Time will tell.

That would be very frustrating! I can't say I know how you feel, but I'm sorry you're dealing with the hunger! Does your plan include Protein drinks? I know that is probably part of why I stay full pretty much all day. I have Breakfast a little later than most people probably do, then lunch, afternoon shake, dinner, nighttime shake. That is what works for me. Snacks aren't on my plan but I indulge myself occasionally.

  4. thanks for the words. I just worried that my body has adjusted to the new low calories and exercise and that I'll be back to where I was before - stuck and unable to lose weight. I'll try and be patient.

With the hunger thing, I started getting a "churning" kind of feeling in my stomach all day at around week 6. Felt kind of like hunger but I knew I wasn't really hungry. I knew it was acid because I actually woke up in the middle of the night one night choking on acid. I called my bariatric office & they prescribed Prevacid, a PPI (from my understanding). Tiffykins and I discussed the acid part and she mentioned that week 6 was when she started having issues with stomach acid too. Others have mentioned on here that too much acid in the new tiny tummy can feel like hunger. Some dr.'s prescribe PPIs for all their patients, others only as needed (mine was the latter). Those who are further out say it gets better, though! :thumbup1: I still get the churning feeling occasionally but it's not as bad now that I'm on the Prevacid. Although my surgeon didn't prescribe any refills so I'll be needing to get some more soon! I would say call your doctor, explain how you're feeling, ask him if he thinks it could be related to over-producing acid, and whether he will prescribe something. Let us know how it goes!

  5. I have lost a total of 33 pounds and the scale hasn't budged for 3 weeks for me so I know exactly how you are feeling. I keep my Protein up and my carbs down. I met with my nutritionist this week and he said I am doing everything right. I question that, however, because I am not losing. I am very frustrated but am doing my best to not focus soley on the weight loss. I take my measurements and they have changed slightly in the past 3 weeks even though the scale hasn't budged. I get lots of compliments so that really helps too. I keep telling myself that this has to work because I am physically unable to eat anywhere near the amount of food I used to eat. All we can really do is keep following the rules and hang in there until the scales start moving for us too. That or liposuction but I spent all my money on this surgery so Lipo has to wait. LOL!!!!

33 pounds in less than 2 months is EXCELLENT! At 9 weeks (I only weigh once a week), I had lost 34 lbs since surgery, which I think is pretty amazing. Just think, how much would you be losing if you were just doing another diet?? :thumbup1: It could be that because you lost so much early on your body just needs a little time to adjust! It will come off, don't worry!

  6. My heart hurts bc I know you're hurting. Focus on you, your studies, and your future.

Thank you, Tiffy! I will do my best. And I hope that your situation works itself out soon as well.

Also, I LOVE your confession for the day!

  7. Sorry, this doesn't relate to the sleeve at all but...I must confess I feel like I'm losing everything right now. I'm in my last semester of undergraduate studies and as long as I pass my classes, will graduate in May. I'm going through a rough time right now trying to be there for a friend who is in a relationship with a bad man. She talks to me about their problems (they've been dating a month), and all the signs lead me to believe, especially knowing his prior history with women, that he is going to end up hurting her. He freaked out on me this weekend and was extremely disrespectful to me over something trivial, and she defended him over it. I'm afraid I'm losing my best friend and don't know what to do about it. If I try to help her see him for what he is, I'm just going to push her further away. I don't know that I'm exactly looking for advice on the situation, but I guess it's just nice to be able to let it out. I feel like I don't have people to talk to about it because she's my BEST friend. And on top of that, I'm finding it really really difficult to concentrate on college right now when I know I need to be. Thanks for letting me rant. :confused1:

  8. Thanks for the advice. I just bought me a chewable Iron. I hope this helps. Midwest girl your profile pic looks great. Congrats on the weight loss.

Hopefully the Iron does the trick! It only took a couple days for me to feel a nice change in energy. :001_tongue: And thank you very much! I didn't even notice how different my face looked until one of my friends showed me that picture! :blushing: I can see the change in your pic too! Keep up the good work, girl!

  9. I stayed one night. I don't think I could have done outpatient. I was in a lot of pain right after I got out of recovery, and don't think I could have managed that with oral drugs. I was so thankful for the IV! It was also nice for me to have the adjustable bed (sounds silly) because I don't normally sleep on my back because I find it uncomfortable, so being raised up a little bit was helpful as well.

  10. I'm 7 months post-op on March 10th. My weight loss has slowed WAY DOWN now. I'm wondering: AT WHAT POINT does your body just say, "Ok, that's it; I'm settling right here and not dropping any more weight?" Let's hear from some long-timers on this question. I was losing at the rate of approx. 10 lbs. a month, then it was taking 6 weeks to lose 10 lbs., now I'm lucky to lose 3-5 lbs. a month. It's getting frustrating and I'm still 25 lbs. away from my high end goal. What to do??:frown1:

I can't help with your question, but I just wanted to say...I looked at your pics from January & you look AMAZING! :001_tongue:

  11. Happy Monday everyone! Weigh day for me and....drum-roll....230.2! I'm down 3.4 lbs since last Monday. Which quite surprised me as I was a bit naughty over the weekend :biggrin0: but I upped my exercise routine. Almost into the 220s and couldn't be happier knowing that I won't ever see the 230s again!

  12. 1) Exactly what Vitamins do we need to be taking post-op?

    2) Exactly how much of each Vitamin is required/recommended?

    3) How long do we need to be taking them?

    4) Is there certain Vitamins that we can/cannot take with others, or estimated time we need to wait in between?

    Hey Angel!

    1) I take a Multivitamin, Iron, calcium citrate + vit D, and B12. These were all recommended to me by my dietitian.

    2) the calcium citrate is supposed to be 1200-1500mg per day but you have to take it in two separate doses because the body can only absorb so much at one time. I take 29mg of Iron per day (I do the Bariatric Advantage lemon-lime chewables and don't have the Constipation issue anymore). 500mcg B12 a day, and two flintstones complete Multivitamins a day.

    3) I was told I'd be taking them forever. Though I think post-menopausal women do not need iron supplements, but I could be wrong on that.

    4) Do not take iron with any dairy products. And do not take Calcium & iron together. Doing either of these will cancel it out & you won't absorb the vitamins. I take my iron with Breakfast (taking it with Vitamin C helps it absorb), 1/2 of my calcium citrate and a multivit with lunch, then the other 1/2 of my calcium citrate, a multivit, and my B12 at dinner.

    Hope that helps! :sad0:
