  1. Hi MidwestGirl. I'm almost halfway there too. You are doing so well. I wish you the best in your efforts. I bought new clothes that are too tight, but I figure they won't be for long. Isn't this fun.

    Best wishes to you all!

    Dan S.

Hi, Dan! I love buying new clothes, just wish they were cheaper, hahaha. :001_tongue: Congrats to us on our almost halfway-ness! :thumbup1:

  2. I've had this saved for several years (like 8 years) in my email inbox. A very wise, dear friend sent it to me, and I read it often during my single years. I bolded the ones that really struck a chord with me, and my life.

Thank you for posting this, Tiffy. I sent it to my best friend who is currently in one of those relationships where she knows it's unhealthy for her but feels like it's her duty to help him with his anger and addiction problems. Thank you.

I can't really relate because I've been lucky enough to find a great man who loved me when I was a big girl and will still love me when I'm thin! And looking ladies, I wish you all the best of luck in finding what you want! :biggrin2:

  3. Thank you all for all of your support! I'm so glad I found this forum! :biggrin2:

Man I'm getting tired of buying new clothes! Hehehe. Gone from a size 24 jeans to baggy size 18s, and I LIKE these jeans, lol! And a size XXL t-shirt to a size L t-shirt. And I don't even want to talk about bras! :001_huh: Running out of clothes that I already had so it's about time to go back to the store!

  4. I've lost 51.8 lbs since surgery!!!! Which means I've lost 69.2 lbs since last July when I first went to orientation. I am about 1.2 lbs from being halfway to my goal! I can't believe this! :w00t: My surgeon told me about the 60% in the first year stats, which would mean I'd be down to 190 by January 2011. He told me at my 3-month post-op appointment 2 weeks ago that I may not necessarily ever make my goal (140). I'm gonna prove him wrong. I'm going to get strict on my exercise regimen again, and I want to be in Onederland by May 15th, which is the day I'll graduate from college. I think that will be a nice way to go out. So I'm hoping to lose another 12.2 lbs in...a little under 4 weeks. We'll see!

Thank you all for all of your support. I couldn't do this without you guys!

  5. I'm a little over 3 months out, and have been taking my antacid (prescription) about a month and a half now. I forgot to take it yesterday, and woke up choking on stomach acid again. At my 3-month appt. last week, my surgeon told me to wean off the antacid and definitely not take it more than three months.:sad0: What are you taking, excited2lose? I was just wondering if you're on prescription antacid or over the counter. I know I can only do another month and a half of my prescription antacid, so I'm going to have to find an over-the-counter product eventually.

  6. Herbal, fruit (both naturally caffeine-free), and Decaf teas are okay. I had the same problem with Water at the beginning, but around a month or a little over post-op, I kind of weaned myself off the crystal light and started drinking plain water again. Some day my sleeve still doesn't want plain water, but it's okay most days now for me. Just keep trying it, it gets better! :biggrin0:

  7. I don't usually get into belief vs. non-belief arguments. Having a mother who's fairly devout has taught me that when I answer that my non-belief is as heartfelt as her belief, I only get blank stares. So I've learned to just live and let live and accept that 95% of the rest of the population doesn't share my beliefs (errrr, non-beliefs :) ) and, that's perfectly okay.

    I agree with this.

  8. So, atheists and other "nonbelievers" make up, I believe, five percent of the population. And sleevers are, what, 1% of the population? Less?

So agnostic/atheist sleevers like me are literally one in a million! I KNEW my momma was right when she said I was "special!" :)

I thought I was the only "nonbeliever" here! Guess we're two in a million? Two in two million? :lol0:

  9. It only goes to my elbow but thank you...It is going to be a reward to myself when I reach goals I can finish parts of it = ]

I like that idea! I only have 2 so far, both wrists & one on my upper back, but I want more! I just can't decide what. I'm sure you know the feeling - once you get that first one you just want more! :001_unsure: Maybe I'll think up something to get when I reach goal.

Keep up the vlogging, lady! It's cool to see people I "know." :)

  10. Thank you so much for posting about this! I uploaded it to my iPod this afternoon and I did my first day, week 1 today....in-place in the privacy of my dorm room! :w00t: I'm still super-self conscious since I live on a college campus & I don't really want all the really fit athletes watching me work out! Hopefully later this week, when I go home for Easter break, I can do it outside.

I've never been athletic in the slightest, but even at my pre-op evaluations in meetings with both the recreational therapist & physical therapist I told them I wanted to start jogging someday. I did that first one and it wasn't too bad at all! I'm actually sweating much less than when I do my Walk-away-the-pounds DVD for half an hour. Pretty happy that I finally talked myself into downloading it! Thanks again!
