    Let's chat

This is frustrating...everytime I try to get into the chat, it tells me "unable to connect" and yet I'm having none of the issues it says - I AM connected to the internet, I obviously have the correct address...so confused!
  6. Hey girl! I've been great! Probably not working out as much as I should be, but college is starting to get really busy. Don't worry - your stall has to end eventually! :) Just keep your chin up! I'm down 25.8 since Jan. 3rd, day before surgery, as of Monday. Trying to weigh just once a week now plus had Aunt Flo this week so didn't want to weigh! LOL. I feel so much better now. :) Sounds like you're doing great! :D Keep it up!!!

    Pre Op Store List?

I know some Dr.'s say different things, but I was allowed to do whatever protein drinks I wanted on clears as long as they were mixed with Water. Then I started using skim milk when I got to full. And you will be so thankful for the tomato soup! Just make sure it's not very thick. I had a lot of cream Soups during full liquids, though the sodium count was kinda high. I got the lower fat ones and just strained out the chunks of whatever was in there. Others have said they pureed the soup so they didn't have to strain them. Hope that helps. :blushing: For full liquids definitely sugar-free popsicles (I like the Crystal Light ones), sugar-free pudding (I was told the boxed kind not the refrigerated kind) and/or sugar-free Jello. Watered-down cream of wheat was good but has higher carbs if you're worried about that.
  8. I had surgery on Monday morning, no nausea until the middle of the night my first night home (between Tues. and Wed.). I woke up dry heaving, about 1 a.m., had to sit up in bed with a bucket and every time I started to nod off, I'd dry heave again for another couple minutes. This lasted til 4a.m., I got up when my fiance was getting ready for work and sat up in the desk chair until 8a.m. when I called my bariatric clinic. Then Dr. prescribed two different nausea meds ( a suppository & a tablet). I took a dose of each that afternoon and didn't have nausea again after that! :blushing:

Scrambled eggs were not what I expected

I read somewhere here that a lot of people don't do well with eggs right after surgery, with similar results to what you had it sounds like. My dietitian said to try everything, and if something doesn't work, try it again in a week or so. May just be that you need to mix something in with the eggs? The only eggs I've had so far are some mini crustless quiches I made, so they had artichokes, crabmeat, onions, etc. mixed in and that was fine for me. :001_smile: I was never that big on eggs so I'm kind of trying to hold off on 'em for awhile! Good luck though!
  13. Hmm, the protein shakes shouldn't be making you gain. Were you wearing much heavier clothing the day you weighed more? That could be part of it. And if you were on your period you could have weighed more that day. Did the doctor mention anything about how you had "gained"?

has this ever happend to u be 4 surgrey

I would trust the dr.'s scale. And for my first post-op appt., I took my new scale (it's lightweight) with to the office so I could see how different they were. Mine says .8 lighter than the dr.'s scale.

    Really frustrated with surgeon

OMG. I would be irate! That is ridiculous! Wow, I'm sorry you're dealing with these jerks. I would do what both ishary and Tiffykins suggested and then, like Mary, find someone else if possible. Excuse my language, but those assholes don't deserve your patience or your business. Screw 'em! Sorry if I've offended anyone. It's been one of those days. :thumbup1:
  16. You are HOT, woman! :001_smile: Congrats on the losing half of your body! That sounds weird, but you know what I mean! That is amazing! :thumbup1:

    NSV shout outs

So my roommate and I have a class together, and the classroom has the desks where the chair is connected, you know, the ones designed for SKINNY people? :thumbup1: Anyway, I always grab the ONE desk that has a little extra room (wow, put one fatty desk in the whole classroom...geniuses). The other day, my roommate grabbed my desk and I said "Hey! You took my fat desk!" and she laughed at me. So I sat in a regular one. And for the first time that I can remember in a long time, I didn't feel like I was wedged in there! I fit in desks now!!! WOOT! I need to try the shadow thing as well. Woot Mini-me! :001_smile:

    Coffee... How Naughty, Really?

I tried my first coffee since surgery earlier this week. I work at a coffeeshop and made myself the weekly special - so I used (all sugarfree) white chocolate, raspberry, and strawberry flavorings, 1 shot espresso, skim milk. I could only drink half, so about 8 oz. and that took me an hour and a half! By then it was cold. I just made sure I added some extra water that day and didn't count the coffee drink toward my 64 oz. of fluid (my dietitian has told me to count everything I drink, counting shakes too, WOOT!) I've also had the occasional cup of non-decaf tea here lately. I figure if you're getting all your water and the coffee is on top of that, should be okay. :001_smile:
  19. Hey Lee! Hope this message when you read it finds you well! Welcome to the losing side. :001_smile:

How are you exercising this week?

So far I've only done 2 days of cardio this week...which means now I get to work out for the next 4 days straight. But it's my own fault... Anyway, Sunday: 30 mins of Leslie Sansone's "advanced" 12-minute-miles DVD (= 2 1/2 miles) & about 30 mins of strength training (abs, legs, & arms) Today: 30 mins of Leslie Sansone again & about 20 mins of strength training (legs & arms today). I get disappointed with myself but I'm just getting burnt out on college so I make excuses to not do stuff I need to do. Senioritis big time! Wish I had some advice on the scale situation. But I'm only 6 weeks out so I don't have any words of wisdom. :biggrin0: But keep doing what you're doing! Don't get discouraged! Keep working out, eating the good stuff, and you can't help but lose! We're here for you! :001_smile:
  21. Woot! Congrats on the big loss! I definitely wouldn't beat yourself up over the fettucine. And that does sound delicious! I made dinner for my sorority "daughters" one night last week & made pasta, used chicken, onion, garlic, and some no sugar added pasta sauce & it was SO good! Simple and I've had it 100 times before, but food tastes so much better now! And while I wouldn't do it every day, I think we can afford to treat ourselves. :) I'm doing well! I was 6 weeks out on Monday and had lost 25.8 since then, so I'm feelin' good! I'm so much happier, I feel better, and I'm looking forward to the future!!! Glad to hear you're doing well. :)

    Buffet??

Woot! Thanks! :biggrin0: I was pretty excited that I actually found the menu since Bossy/nosey lady said she couldn't find one! Bonus points, LOL. :001_smile:

    Buffet??

Ok, so here's the deal. I am taking a Chinese language class and as Chinese New Year begins on Sunday, we decided to go to Des Moines (about 45 mins away) to have some good Chinese food. Our class is small: me, my roommate, a bossy lady that works at the college, and our visiting professor from China. Not sure why we are going to a buffet (that's what bossy lady decided) since I'm pretty sure most buffets in Iowa aren't exactly authentic & if we were just going to go to a buffet we could stay in town........... But whatever. So we will be going to a Chinese buffet in the next week or so. Obviously I won't be able to eat much though I am now on solids. My dietitian recommends 1/4c. food at each meal. So what should I do? I'm not thrilled about paying $15+ for a buffet meal (I'm a broke college student), but I don't really have any options, so any ideas on what would be sleeve-friendly on a Chinese buffet? I'm worried because I know most of the foods have sauces that are probably high in sugar. :crying: And while my roommate & professor both know about my surgery, I'm not looking forward to bossy lady (also nosey lady) asking questions that she has no business asking! Grr, can you tell I'm frustrated?! Sorry bout that! Any advice on eating buffet style post-sleeve would be GREAT.:blushing:

    Buffet??

This made me laugh. And she SO would!!!! LOL.

    Buffet??

So, here's the update! Bossy/nosey lady took a poll from people she knows and came up with a list & reviews of like 6 different restaurants. She asked which one we thought sounded best. Me, being so subtle, said the sit-down-and-order-off-a-menu place sounded good. And she went for it! Luckily, I found a MENU online! Woot! http://www.menupix.com/menupdf/GreatChinaCarry1115.pdf I looked it over, did some research on some of the things to see if there were any Entrees without sauce because I reasoned with myself that I could do as Tracy suggested, order the huge meal, and then I will have yummy Chinese leftovers for a few days! I've narrowed it to moo goo gai pan or shrimp with lobster sauce, depending how I feel that day. Although I'm sure it varies, I found a cool site that gives some nutrition info for some of the more popular Chinese-American dishes (and is what helped me narrow down my choice). Chinese Food: A Wok On The Wild Side Ultimately, I decided if I skip the rice, I should be okay with one of those choices. I'm going to skip appetizers, and no drink, of course! Then I will be more comfortable not having to dodge questions from Bossy/Nosey Lady and I will have leftovers! I'm "allowed" to eat pretty much (within reason of course) whatever I want now, and am only eating 1/4c. per meal, which leaves me full! So if I keep the carbs + fat + cals as low as possible, I think I'll have a yummy, fun lunch! Any input on this?? Am I making a mistake?
