    Finally!!!!!

Thinoneday! Congrats! You have lost soooo much! I was sleeved just a week before you and I'm only at 76 pounds? I was curious if you're watching carbs and if that has helped, and what kind of exercise routine? Its really helpful to watch and be motivated by other people's postings, thanks!!
  3. My doc recommends peri-colace, which is a softener and a stimulant I take it with no problems having to run to the bathroom urgently
  4. I tried the multivitamin and i threw them up everytime, with food! I do much better with the chewable adult centrum
  5. I was tired, yes. I had mine on Dec. 22 and went back to school the second monday in january (law school) and was just fine. The only thing i had issues with was carrying books/laptops which was well over my drs. 10 pound limit so i had to invest in a rolly briefcase

What was your first month like?

The first month for me was rough. My first week I was in more pain than most seem to experience. The second week I was very sore. I did not have problems with vomitting or keeping things down, but I was tired. I know just what you mean! I didn't even dry my hair, or if i did i had to take a nap after. It'd take me 2 hours just to shower dry and dress. My advice would be take it easy, and don't forget your vitamins. It does get better. Six months out I have twice the energy i did pre-surgery. Blood work may be a good idea. I wasn't anemic ever in my life before surgery, but found out after that first month I was and the iron supplement has been the key for me. Keep us updated!

    Hungry hungry hungry

I actually LOVE this thread. I am so glad you started it. I'm gonna try the acid reducer thing and see if it helps me.

    Hungry hungry hungry

I don't have any advice, I am right there with ya. My mom had the surgery after me and isn't hungry, and I am almost 6 months out and am constantly hungry and barely losing. I don't regret the sleeve, but some of us get the short end of the stick it seems

    the biggest loser

I agree with Tiffykins. Jillian is absolutely annoying. I did find Shay inspirational. She did that subway challenge and in 7 months lost 52 pounds since her season. It just seems so much more realistic of a number and she did it in real life. Its people like here that make me watch it. Oh, and UNC. I just absolutely adored that man this season.

    puking vitamins

Bariatric Advantage chewables made both me and my mom puke everytime! However, I have had zero issues with the centrum adult chewables. And they taste like orange flintstones.

    Alli, anyone?

I used it pre-op and never had any of the side effects. HOWEVER, I asked my surgeon (though, as always, checking with yours and following his advice is best) and he said absolutely never touch this medicine post sleeve. While because of our diet we are unlikely to experience the side effects, its a serious issue with malabsorbtion
  13. Ditto fatsecret! I use it on my blackberry! free for blackberry too

    Sushi

I just had sushi for lunch. As MidWestGirl mentioned, it can be a little painful and you have to be mindful of how quickly you are eating. I can eat 3 pieces of a small roll (veggie/ spicy tuna/ etc) I find that sashimi or sushi (the kind with the raw fish over a small ball of rice) goes down the easiest. I can eat an order of sashimi and 2 pieces of sushi easily. Maybe try take out your first time, just in case?
  15. Well, I have decided to take some of your advice and set mini goals for myself. My first one was to be able to use wii fit (which has a weight limit of 330 pounds) My second one was to be under 300 pounds! This morning I was 295.2!!! My next mini goal is to wear size 20 old navy jeans and to weigh less than my fiance (he's 265). So another 30 pounds and I *should* meet both of these (unsure about the pants, but I am currently wearing a good fitting/on the loose side 22....

    Coffee

I was told that decaf coffee was ok immediately after surgery. After two weeks I could have caffeinated coffee, but I can't count it in my 64oz of liquids requirements.

    Well Here Goes.....

Check out bariatricadvantage.com They have calcium chews (in lemon and raspberry) I am a big fan of the calcium crystals and they're flavorless, as well as the lozenges (the cinnamon ones taste like cinnamon altoids!)

    Wiping

I wasn't allowed to leave the hospital until I did :confused1:
  19. PinkJewels

    Wiping

I couldn't do it. Had to have my fiance (poor guy) or my mom (nurses are tough!) help me for 4-5 days. It was embarassing. I couldn't even turn around or twist to come close, and I had 0 issues before surgery doing this myself... guess i was the unlucky one

    I'm young

I am 23 and was sleeved on Dec. 22. I absolutely do not regret any of it. I am more than happy to share my experiences or answer any questions, PM me anytime
  21. Lan2K/Tiffy I second the neti-pot in addition to a nose spray. I don't use anything fancy though, just the packets that it came with. It is weird at first but has helped a lot with my allergies!!
  22. Hey Tiffy! I have been using Flonase since right after surgery for sinus/allergy issues! If you spray it in right (your PCP or pharmacist should explain how to do it correctly) you should be fine. I have had absolutely no issues, and find it really helpful this time of year! The only bad-ish thing about flonase is it smells strongly like roses for about 30 second after you spray it. Nasonex and Rhinocort gave me bloody noses, but my mom (a VSG patient) uses Nasonex daily. Hope you find something that works for you!

    stomach spasms?? anyone?

Were you on oxygen in the hospital? I was and got a few bloody noses and the dr. attributed it to that. I second the warm liquids. Anything cool/cold hurt pretty bad for me the first week. Stay patient and know that you will be back to normal in no time!!!

    Broke the 130 barrier

Thats awesome! Congrats! Maybe I'll see you at the Crim, my goal is the 5k at the Crim!!! Never ran anything before!

Dual surgeries or one at a time?

I had a similar situation. Will you be doing the surgery in the United States or in Mexico or some other location? Will you have anyone there to help you the first couple days home from the hospital? I had my VSG on 12-22, and my mom had hers 12-28, and it got a little bit stressful, even with my dad and fiance there to help us out. If you have someone to drive you to appointments/ run to the store for broth/juice I think it is definitely doable, though we did find that two people who normally get along great can be tried during the stress of recovery and not feeling 100%
