3 weeks and 3 days post op STALL?

Hey Guys! Thanks for all your posts. I got on the scale this morning and I was down 5lbs! Just hope it keeps up. I am kind of worried about not losing like everyone else does, because I also have a slow thyroid and it has always hindered my weight loss. The cake I ate went down fine. I didn't have a problem at all, but I don't plan on doing that again. I have not been exercising. That's probably another problem. I need to get back in that tomorrow. Also I have been struggling with my Water intake. It is so hard for me to drink one 20oz bottle of water and I need to drink 3 a day! I don't know what I will do! Have to find a way. Also I believe my calorie intake has been low. Maybe 300-400 calories. I don't know quite how to raise it... Also I'm still on mushies and it is hard to get much Protein in during this stage. Any suggestions?

    Whatcha' Eating?

Today I had: Breakfast: Scrambled Egg No lunch Dinner: 1/4 cup mashed potatoes and 1/4 cup cooked carrots with splenda brown sugar. Yummy! Snack: String Cheese (80 calories) I do good through the morning and afternoon, but I always get hungry at night. Like now it's 9pm and I'm hungry! Probably isn't good to eat this late is it? I also need to get a protein drink. They're hard to find here in Nicaragua. I'm going to try to have someone from the states bring me some.

    depressed and can't sleep

Hey Okalani, How much weight have you lost? I am 3 1/2 weeks out. I have been feeling bad lately too. The first 15 days went great and I lost 20lbs, but since then the scale hasn't moved at all... :crying: I don't understand it since we are not eating hardly anything. I am at the point with my drinking that it doesn't bother me to take bigger gulps. So, I am just starting to get more Water down. I went out with a group this week to eat and everyone was eating fried chicken and french fries and I was there with my side of yucky mashed Beans... :confused1: You don't feel as bad about it if you are really losing weight, but if you're not it sucks! Sorry that you haven't been sleeping well. I don't know about that one.
  4. I'm 3 weeks out and I have lost 20lbs. But, I lost this during the first 2 weeks. I haven't lost anything this last week... Is that normal? To go a whole week and not lose anything? I'm on mushies...

    Day 15

Day 15: I weighed this morning and I have lost 20lbs! I can't believe it! I hope this keeps up. :cursing: 2 days ago I got the rest of my stitches out. So painful, but at least I'm glad they're out and it's OVER. :biggrin2: For some reason it seems that I can eat more than most people this far along... :sad0: I don't know why... Today I had a scrambled egg for breakfast and ate the whole thing... :mad0: For lunch I had 2 crackers with chicken salad. I had a fudge bar for a snack. And for dinner I had soup w/rice (3/4 cup). But even though I am eating more than most at least I am still losing... It's so hard for me to get my water down... I am usually getting 1 bottle down a day. :scared0: I went walking yesterday and today for about 30 mins. I think it really helped me.

    unusual question

I made homemade chicken soup and blended it up. My doctor let me have it on the second week of liquids, but it was a little weird because of the chicken and all the different vegetables. It really didn't have a distinct taste... They have a vegetable here in Nicaragua called pipian (it is like squash). My doctor told me I could boil it with a little Water and the add skim milk and blend it. It was great! I think the more items you blend the more confusing the taste, but hey anything is better than only liquids right?

Hello Nayna, Welcome to VST! I was just sleeved 2 weeks ago. Getting the sleeve is one of the best decisions I have ever made! I have lost 20lbs. in 2 weeks and a lot of other people on here have lost faster than me. I was in the hospital for 2 nights. The same day as the surgery I was up and going to the bathroom on my own. I was able to take a shower the next morning. Keep us updated on how you're doing. Let us know if you have any more questions. I'm a newbie, but there are a lot of people here that have had the sleeve for quite a while.
  11. Hola Miguel! Felicidades! I vivo en Nicaragua! Yo soy una misionera aqui. Mi esposo es de aqui. Yo soy de los estados (Tennessee). Mi espa?ol no es muey bueno... lol I got sleeved here in Nicaragua 2 weeks ago. It was one of the best things I have ever did! Welcome to this site! Keep us updated on how you are doing.

    Whatcha' Eating?

Breakfast: a scrambled egg. Lunch: 2 crackers w/chicken salad Snack: Light frozen fudge bar Dinner: 3/4 cup of Arroz Aguado (It's something they make here in Nicaragua with chicken and rice, but it is kind of like a Soup. I didn't eat the chicken though. and 1 bottle of Water...
  13. I'm 2 weeks out and my incision areas are already healed. You can just see a small scar. But where I had the drainage tube is still healing. It's taking longer there. I'd love to have a bathtub! Here in Nicaragua everyone only has showers. I enjoy the 1x a year I get to go home and have a real bath!

    Day 6 (Drainage Bag Removed)

Day 6: I got by drainage bag and most of my stitches out today! YAY! I'm so happy! I couldn't wait to get that tube out of my stomach. Yuck! :mad0: I feel 100% better! :biggrin2: They only left the stitches by my belly button and I get those out in another week. I'm so happy that I can start feeling "normal" again... I have a little pain, but not much. The doctor said taking the stitches and the tube out wasn't going to hurt, but he lied! :scared0: I was ready to scream! But it was worth it! :cursing: I've lost 10 lbs. so far. I have been so hungry today! I so wish I could eat something of substance! Somehow I'll have to make it on my clear liquids...
  15. Hey Everybody! I'm here with another question. I went to the nutritionist that my surgeon recommended and she is giving me plans of what to eat every meal, every day and how much to eat of it for every stage. I am getting ready to move to mushies on Tuesday. Is this really necessary? I know I need to eat healthy. Not drink drinks with sugar, but as long as I'm eating healthy foods I should be ok shouldn't I? Like right now she told me to eat 1/2 cup of pureed Soup for lunch and then for dinner, but what if I drink some more times than that? Is it going to hurt me? Or what if I don't feel full with 1/2 cup? Is it going to hurt me if I have 3/4 cup? I'm confused....
  16. Hi Carolyn! I'm on day 11 and I have been eating cream Soup and I find that I can eat at least a 1/2 cup sometimes more. Today I went to TGIF and ordered Broccoli cheese soup thinking I couldn't eat much of it and it wouldn't hurt me, but I ate all of it! I mean it wasn't a whole cup probably, but it was more than 1/2 cup. I didn't feel bad afterwards or anything. Am I eating too much? I wonder if it can hurt me eating this much?
  17. Hey Everyone! I know Cokes and anything that is carbonated we have been told that we can NEVER drink again right? I was thinking yeah, but maybe after I'm healed a little bit here or there wouldn't hurt right? I have read about other people that have had a little bit and didn't bother them. Well, I am finally cured from all carbonated beverages. My mom was talking to a doctor friend of ours and he was wanting her to know how serious the decision I was making to have the sleeve was and how I need to follow all directions and take care of myself. He was telling her that he helped assist on a WLS, not sure which one this lady had and afterwards I'm not sure how long it was, but she drunk a COKE! :w00t: And... her stomach exploded and she died... :001_tt2: So, for me and any of you that are tempted to have a soft drink from time to time we just need to remember this story. I'm sure I won't be tempted anymore... It's just NOT worth it! :svengo:
  18. Hello Everybody! It has been 10 days since I was sleeved. I'm doing pretty well. Looking forward to moving to mushies next week! YAY! I've lost 16lbs. so far. :lol0: When I went back to the doctor he told me that I was dehydrated and needed to drink more. They told me I need to drink like 3 20oz bottles of liquid everyday. I probably have been drinking 1... I guess I have been worried about drinking too much or taking too big of sips. HOW do I know if this happens? I really haven't had any problems since the surgery. I haven't felt like I was going to throw up or anything like that. Also when I drink soup, I am finally able to eat soup with chicken and vegetables if it is put through the blender! What happens if I put too much in my sleeve? I usually go with 1/2 cup, but sometimes I still feel hungry... Advice anyone? :001_smile:
  19. Hey Guys! I have finally committed to getting the sleeve this Tuesday. My doctor told me he could do it on that day, but I'm been trying to see if I could make up my mind to do it. But I AM going to do it! Not sure what time. I think in the morning. I'm a little bit nervous because I have not did any kind of pre-op diet. My doctor told me not too worry about it because I'm not extremely overweight... I have over 100 lbs. to lose, to me that's alot... What do you guys think? I wonder what time I will have to stop eating or drinking tomorrow? Maybe some of you that have just had your surgery around the same time we can keep more in touch and see how we are doing? I love having found this site and having people that can help me along the way! Also I enjoy reading about you guys that have already been where we've been and we can learn from your experiences.

*** My surgery is 2 days from now, what should I take to the hospital ***

Congratulations! Everything that deedee said sounds great! Can't think of anything else that I took. I didn't take the chapstick, but I had to get some while I was there. Definitely needed! Everything will go fine! I was sleeved 6 days ago and I'm doing great! Let us know how everything went when you get home!

    First part of my journey...

I got sleeved 5 days ago :biggrin2: and I am doing well. Lost 10 lbs. so far. I believe I have made to right decision. I guess only time will tell. :cursing: Right now I am on clear liquids for another 9 days  and then I can start eating a little bit more of food. Why did I decide to get the sleeve? I have been overweight my whole life! :sad0: I remember being on and off diets since I was like 9 yrs. old. I would always go on them with my Mom and Dad and both of them would lose weight and I would lose hardly nothing. When I was 15 yrs. old I was FINALLY diagnosed with hypothyroidism (my thyroid was not functioning currently) Since then (12 yrs.) I have been on medicine everyday for my thyroid. It did help that I was no longer gaining 5lbs. a week like I did when I was a child, but it still made it extremely hard to lose weight. All my life I have been trying, but it doesn't work. For the last 4 years I have been working in Nicaragua, Central America as a missionary. And it is so much harder to diet here. I also got married 3 yrs. ago and I have a 2 yr. old daughter, so I have to say since I have gotten married I have kind of let myself go... :scared0: I've probably gained close to 40-50lbs. since I've been here. It is so hard with my busy daily schedule and the foods here for my to try to lose weight. Everything here is fried! I know even with the sleeve that I need to start eating healthy, but if it happens that I have to eat a few bites of something that is not healthy I believe I can still lose weight. At least I'm hoping so. If anyone wants to know about what I do you can visit my website: http://www.missionariestonicaragua.org. Also it doesn't help that my husband weighs 150lbs. and I weigh 250lbs. I know he still loves me, :mad0: but I feel that I have to do something. Especially for my health. I'm borderline on high blood pressure. Both my parents have health problems and it's just a matter of time... So this last Tuesday was my changing point in my life. I am no longer gaining weight. I am NO LONGER addicted to food. I'm going to lose 110lbs!!!!

    Hey...another newbie here!

Glad to hear that it well Jeff! I just got sleeved this last Tuesday, the 13th. Came home on Thursday and have been doing pretty good, but I still have the stupid drainage bag! :svengo: My doctor wants to wait until Tuesday to take it out! You know how annoying that is... Other than that I'm doing good. I'm amazed that they are allowing you to eat all that stuff so soon! I'm on Clear liquids and chicken broth for 2 weeks... :001_tt2:
