  1. I usually don't have much trouble eating, but a few times a week, I'll cook something and the smell will be repulsive. Just made a pot of cream of chicken Soup (2c soy milk, 2c chicken stock, chicken breast, clove of garlic, diced onion, gouda cheese, sea salt, fresh ground black pepper, 2 tbsp flour) and it was amazing until I poured a cup and brought it up to my lips. Eww. Some days I should be sipping from a sippy cup so my nose won't derail my Protein attempts. Wanna know my trick for days when I can't stand the thought of eating and everything makes me feel sick? Pork rinds. The kind I get are 33g of protein for only 250 cals. It's a real lifesaver.. crunchy and light and go down really easy.

  3. Hey, I'm scheduled to have the VSG on Oct 2, 2009. My surgeon makes a 300ml sleeve. Almost 10 ozs. Does that seem like a lot to you? How big was your sleeve?

    Food issues, now in reverse.

Someone told me this and I thought it was so weird, but I tried it and it was good... have a teaspoon of warmed up spaghetti sauce for every tablespoon of cool cottage cheese.. the combination together is lovely. I thought it sounded strange, but it was VERY VERY good!

    October Sleevers

I'm Oct 2nd, Friday. I've waited 16 months since being put on the waiting list, and I'm so excited about it finally being my turn. My pre-op was in FEBRUARY! That's how many problems have popped up since then. Now it's finally my turn.. =)

    Hello :)

I saw a study that showed all the patients eventually ended up with about a 8 or 9 oz sleeve after 2 years. Maybe he means 10 ozs eventually? I sure hope so! I'll mention it to him if I see him before surgery.

    Drainage, Leakage and Staples?

That glue is great. Promotes faster healing, but of course it costs more than stitches so not all hospitals use it.

    Weekend Social Club

My weekend coming up involves.. laying in a hospital bed recovering from getting this stupid piece of plastic out of me FOREVER. YAAAAAY. =)
  14. My shaker cups and magic bullet all foam. Sorry :| I think it has more to do with the brand of protein powder than the machine.
  15. I got the lapband Sept 2004. Around December 2005 I started having pain issues in my body and by May 2006, I was a total mess. I've spent the last few years in severe daily chronic pain and taking oxycontin and still not having relief. I had a team of 6 doctors and lots of loving friends and family and no one could figure out what was wrong with me. 9 months ago I figured it out. My body rejected the lapband.. not slippage, erosion, or psychological intolerance.. true full-on rejection which is pretty rare. I'm being revised to VSG on Friday and I cannot wait for my new life to begin. Yes, what happened to me is rare, but all the other problems are WAY TOO COMMON. You're the only one who can make the decision for you. Do your research and make the best choice for yourself, but please remember my story in case you need to know it later. *hugs*

    Homecoming date set

I'm so happy for you!!! Congrats =)
  17. At this point you still shouldn't have any real sensation of hunger. If you are feeling your appetite increasing it's probably either head hunger or more common, the carb monster. If you toss any refined carbs for 3 days, you'll start to feel better and that urge to eat will subside greatly.

    Hair Loss experiences?

Hair loss is from the anesthesia. It generally starts at around 3-4 months out, and starts growing back around 8 months out if you're getting the proper nutrition your body requires. It's a temporary problem.

I'm gonna be brutally honest since you asked for it. You are not eating enough, and unless you get your calories up to 700-800 a day, your body is going to go into starvation mode and hold on to every calorie you give it and every bit of fat you want to lose. You have to eat to lose weight. If you don't you risk starvation mode and even worse, that your body starts burning muscle mass. It goes after that before the fat, because it's more efficient. You need to do whatever it takes to get those calories up. Do you want control or do you want success? You have to use the first 6 months of your journey to teach yourself how to eat. Your tiny tummy is a muscle, and that muscle has to be used so it can get stronger. You can't mess this amazing chance up because you were scared. Get it together, start eating your 800 calories a day, or at least push yourself to do it, and start taking a walk every night with hubby. I know it's hard, but just like when you start working out and your muscles hurt, your tummy will too. It has to be trained. You just have to do it if you want to be a success, be strong, and be healthy. You can do it. This is YOUR time. Be selfish and do this right so you can be strong and never have to fear the scale again.
  20. Congrats Shanda!!! I hope I do as well as you! I'm so excited about the future! =)

    Hello :)

Yeah I'm so ready for this amazing journey, but 10 ozs seems like a lot. European surgeons tend me be more conservative. I'll just have to work harder, I guess. But I'm seeing this as a good thing, I'll be able to get in more Protein to fuel my 2-3 hr workouts I have planned daily. =) I'm trying to look at it in perspective, a normal person can easily hold 33 ozs (1 liter).. most can even hold 132 ozs (4 liters, 1 gallon) if they push it (Thanksgiving?).. so 10 ozs I can work with. =) I'll just have to be extra dilgent about keeping away from the naughty carbs and sticking to the good ones (Beans, lentils, veggies, fruit).... after my protein of course =)
