  1. I am throwing my home scale away. When I weighed in yesterday and posted I was a bit disappointed and tiny depressed at the "results" finding fault with my eating and lack of exercise. All that before my appt at the gym with my trainer. WELL!!!

When I had my appt with her it was the one month check in. ( I did not remember that) So, here are my results. weight 203 -20 lbs. -27+inches. 9.6% body fat loss. I lost 6+inches in my waist! I now have a 34 inch waist. Me. Big fat ole me. I gotta get a new mind set. a 34 inch waist is not a fat girl any more. I cannot believe my results. If I had done the measurments myself, I would have NEVER believed I took them from the same places or what ever. I came home and just bounced for about 30 min. I grabbed my husbands hands, put them on my waist and said whattyathink? He guessed 37 and I got to say lower lower lower. Oh you guys this is so fun! I am just having the best time. I love my sleeve. I love my life! WOOHOO!

I am gonna weigh only on the gym scale from now on on Mondays!

  2. Lan2K I am so sorry you are having these issues again. You have really been thru it. Are you taking your vits? If your lab work is ok I guess eating by the clock is a good thing. My husband is on anti depressants and they had to change them recently, now that I am aware of this I can understand his lack of appitite. I did not know these drugs could do this. (He does not need to loose any weight) Thanks for posting, you helped me, wish I could help you!

  3. Hi, welcome to VST. I was sleeved in Mex. The Mex Dr.s you will hear about on this forum have done Hundreds of this surgery. Here in the U S not so much. and the Dr.s I interviewed with wanted me to do the band first. (No way)

I have seen a lot of posts on here for Dr. in San Francisco, CA, Ohio, and also Texas. I have not seen any for AZ.

I think there is a forum on how to choose a sleeve Dr.

Good luck with your research. You are on a great journey. Much sucess to you.

  4. Hi,

Well, New Years turned out to be my worst holiday for weight also! I have a houseful of people, and I have not been to the gym, and excuses excuses excuses. Phooey, I gained 3 1/2 lbs. 207 this morning. just phooey.

I am going to the gym today. I am getting my Protein today. I am throwing away all the cookies~cakes~pies~nuts~candies that my guests brought. I thought I had not eaten that much of that stuff. Guess I had. or maybe it is the lack of exercise? Anyway, I am going back to working my tool.

If I want to put a silver lining on this whole "holiday" season~~~I can say that before Christmas I was 212 and now two weeks later 207 for an overall loss of 5 glorius pounds. Yeah, I kinda like that thought better.

    Onward and downward!!! ; }

  5. I remember wanting a "planned" food program so I would not screw up. I was very afraid of hurting my new sleeve. All I can say is~~~~R E L A X all you newbies. Honestly, your sleeve is working. You are not screwing up (or you would be vomiting) You have another 3 to 4 weeks before you will finally get it. You will loose weight and be so amazed. Like, you did not even try your best or anything and bam the scale is just going down on it s own. That is the sleeve working. You are eating the right amount. I promise your sleeve size does not matter. Whatever the size, it will work for you. Have faith and patience. Try not to be so totally consumed with this. Go for your walks. Sip Water and get your Protein, honest you are doing it right.

Clean out your closets in preparation for all new stuff in just a few weeks time. Seriously. I am only 2 1/2 months post and have cleaned out my closet 3 times. I need to do it again. The clothes I thought would be "fine" feel like clown clothes or pajamas. It has been so long since anything was too big on me I did not relaize how fast I would need clothes. This is a good problem to have.

Breathe. Plan. Watch a funny (belly laugh) movie.

    grins and giggles

  6. Mountian Lover: Good job! You are learning to trust your new tool. It will work for you when you "slip up". I think I tested mine several times before I finally got that my sleeve will work for me even when I am not working for it. It works much faster if I work (eat right) with it. I am down over 40 pounds since Oct 15. 40 WOW just wow. I so love my sleeve. My stomach is so much smaller. (outside) I do not have food cravings. I do get hungry, but am satisfied with very little. Sweets used to be my downfall. I had them hidden everywhere in my home. My friend brought me her home made fudge for Christmas. Now, she was not being mean. She knows I am sleeved. She brought me 3 pieces in a darling little tin box. I love her fudge. I am here to tell you it is still sitting in its little tin. I have 0 interest in it. I cannot believe I am not eating that fudge. This is a wonderful tool. I only pray it keeps working. I still have the head fear of gradualy slipping back to the old ways. Thanks to the postings of DeeDee and Tiffy I am starting to believe it won't go away. It will keep working. Wow, I am so emotional this morning. Just so darn thankful.

I am going to go and make a great day for myself and everyone in my home. ((((hugs))))

  7. I got the gastrointestianal bug the day after Christmas. YUCKS. If I had gotten it 3 weeks out I would have been in the hospital too I bet. I got very dehydrated and was kinda wondering if I could have a nurse come and hook me up to an I V. I managed to get better on my own, but, if I had not improved I would have gone in to the hospt.

I hope that is all you had. Sounds like your sleeve is fine. GREAT news. Now, back to normal recovery and great new things. Walk, Water, Protein. = fantastic results.

  8. Hi Carla, welcometo VST. When you get really scared, think of the positives. In fact if you would write them down and post them on your mirror it will help. You will be so much healthier. Happiness comes with health. Yes there are complications that can come with any surgery. Even our members that have experiences with these complications are still so happy to have been sleeved. I think my sleeve has added years to my life. Healthy active years. This is not vanity surgery. This is the same to me as getting my gall bladder out. Had to go to save me. I was scared to do it, but my fear was more about what if it does not work for me.HA! it works. Have to have patience. It works. You will be fine, think positive. Keep posting.

  9. Glad you took action and got-er-done. Jeeze we can ignore stuff forever thinking it will go away. Guess the pain of that just made you take action. Your body did its amazing job of gathering up all the bad stuff happening in your body. Good thing the Dr. removed that nice tight package before it burst.

Now, you are on your way to working the sleeve and a great new life. Complications aside, you are still happy for your sleeve? Hope so.

    Best, speedest recovery wishes.

  10. Oh DeeDee you are so wonderful! I just love your smile. You would think everyone would notice the body first~~~~but, to me the smile says it all. You are a happy healthy young woman. Congratulations to you and continued sucess through out your life. I too hope you keep posting.

  11. How come no one has posted this first monday after Christmas???? Hummmmm? Could it be no one wants to admit and up in the scale? ??

Well ya all, I get to post waaaay differently. But, I will be brutally honest. THe day after Christmas I got the flu. the WORST flu ever. I had my two little grands with me and my poor husband had to get them Breakfast and CHANGE A DIAPER. The man has not changed a diaper in 40 years. Luck was with him it was not poopy. I meanwhile was piling the bathroom rugs any towels I touched and numerous underwear into the tub to be washed when and if I recovered. (I did) Honestly that was just the worst bout of flu in the entire space of time. I did however loose. Yes I did. 5.5Lbs, from Friday to Monday. I am back on Clear Liquids and got a bit of myoplex (protein) to stay down and in! so far so good. God my stomach is sore! Hubby had the flu shot so he will probably be ok. I did not as it was right at the time I was being sleeved. I will NOT miss my flu shot in the future. UGH! so, that is where I am, how are the rest of ya doing? Come on we talk about the good and the bad so fess up.

  12. I bought a pair of size 16 from costco yesterday. only 15 bucks. Brown strech jeans. I have only 3 pair of pants that fit now. Black Grey and now Brown. I had to get more than one pair. Every thing I had was size 20 and up.

I have to say, It was REALLY hard for me to buy a 16 off the shelve. No trying on. I still cannot believe I am down to a 16. Oct 1 I was a 22. All my tops are hanging off me too. I have bought a few tops 14/16 and XL . THey fit! God, I am having such a hard time getting this in my mind. I wanted to wait until I was a size 10 to buy clothes, but, I now know that is impossible. So, I have opted for the cheap clothes route until I hit the size 10. Oh man I love having this problem.

  13. Hi, I make myself drink some chocolate fudge Myoplex (3 oz) BEFORE I indulge in a snacky treat. It usually kills the head hunger. I have had a few mixed nuts, but, I thought thoes were good for me. hahhaaha. not having any trouble with cakes etc. I generally have one bite and am done. I have been re-packing everything large that comes in and giving it to neighbors and friends. That way tempting stuff does not stay around too long. I also am trying to get one fruit a day down. I can only eat 1/2 a small bannana. I working on it. Sheeze!

  14. MGambino: after only 9 weeks and you look like that? WoW you should be the poster child for VSG. LOL Please tell us that is a picture from a long dam time ago, that you are trying to get back to looking like. huge sigh. anyway, drink a small amount of what ever you want and if it tases/feels good count the calories and get on with it. I used to drink beer too, and still buy it for Hubby. I don't miss it though. I had some champgne punch at a party last night. No problems. I do not believe alcohol per se is a problem with the sleeve its self. I think the problem is the usless calories. And, the fact of staying hydrated. Alcohol will leave you quite de-hydrated. You need to protect your sleeve for awhile yet. I am really watching it until I get my lab work done Jan 15. Be cautious.

  15. Welcome to the VST board. God I hope we can make your journey easier than your last one. I opted not to do the band when I was researching WLS about 4 years ago. For all the things that happened to you. I am sooooo sorry you had to go thru all that. This sleeve is so darn simple when you think about it. I am having such great sucess with it. I have already had my gall bladder out from the weight loss in 2004. So, I have NO pain and it is easy now eating well and OMG I love my life. I am down 42 lbs since surgery and I have a ton of energy. Loving my sleeve more each day. It takes over when I slip up. (eating) I sure hope you get approved for this and can become a sleeve sister on the loosers bench. We welcome you with open arms. (flapping a bit still, but, not for long as I am exercizing them like crazy) (((((((((hugs)))))))))
