  1. I have heard that at a buffett style resturant you can tell them you have had stomach surgery and will only be eating a small bowl of Soup and they will either not charge you anything or a very small amount. They want the business (paying customers) you bring with you. I think as a manager I would be most understanding. If you frequent a certain Buffett contact the manager and ask before hand. In this economy, I cannot see them turning away business. Its worth a try.

  2. I burped for the first week or so. But, it went away. I do not have acid reflux. I am not on any prilosec. I am starting to feel hunger today as a matter of fact. gurgling in tum when I eat. I hope the gherlin is not back. I had huge problems with it before surgery. Kinda like MacMadame described. Iam going to go back to my Protein Drinks one meal a day for awhile and see if that helps.

  3. Oh sweetie, you are in such a hurry. I am the impatient type also. But, it does not work that way. Think of the sleeve as a turtle or snail. they go slowly along their way and get there in the end. It is the end results that matter. You have been successful so far and will continue. Do not worry about this 3 week stall. Keep on your program and walk. You will be getting a new outfit or two for Christmas for sure. Keep the faith, slow down your expectations, and get outside and enjoy life. Do not wait to be a certian size to enjoy yourself. Every moment counts.

I go back to eating Soups whenever I eat something that my tum does not like. I will re-introduce that food again in a month or so. Soups and Protein drinks have been my fall back position since surgery. Do not worry about what yur Tum does not like now, it will again later.

Aren't you just amazed at how little you are eating? Ya gotta know in your head that you will be loosing weight with the reduced intake. The scale will catch up. Honest.

  4. Tiffy, you crack me up. I loved that triangle story. I will giggle all day thinking of you contorting trying to get in a better position to see the triangle of light. so cute. I am looking forward to that moment also. You are so far ahead of me. Keep giving me stuff to shoot for.

no patience here, I want it all and I want it now. hahahahaha

  5. Mountianlover: Cut the Protein Bar into 4 pieces. You can have all four if needed, but, try one piece at a time with Water and wait to see if that one piece does the trick.

The up side to this is, you will be eating these smaller amounts after surgery and you are getting a head start. You will remember how difficult,(=willpower) it was before surgery to eat this small amount. and you will giggle at how easy this is after. Life is gonna be soooo good. hang in.

  6. Ruby, God bless you and your wonderful Hubby. I will nominate you for what not to wear! Or, at least second it. I wish all thoes shows would do military personell at least once a month. I bet the ratings would soar. It did for the extream makeover home edition when they did the wheelchair vets house.

congrats on not caving in to old habits.

take real good care of yourself and your little girl, so hubby comes home to a happy healthy family.

I appreciate you and your Husbands service to our country.

  7. Gallbladder is a consiquence of weight loss. At least that was what I was told after emergency surgery to remove mine. I had been on a weight loss diet and dropped 30+ lbs. (2003) I had a steak for dinner and then threw up all night. went to the hospital in a ambulance. So much pain! I had a gall stone stuck in the duct. The surgeon said it is the most common mis-diagnosed problem in the U.S. I had been taking Alka-selsers, pepto bismal, and acid reducers for months. sleeping sitting up, or, with a "wedge" of pillows. I had complained of sever pain under my right boob. My PCP never picked it up. Had words with him about that.

Once the gall bladder was out and I had recovered, I felt so darn good. I lost more weight and kept it off for about a year before it started creeping back.

We do not need our gall bladders to function. So, if you need to get yours taken out, go for it. It is not worth the pain, and drastic measures necessary to keep it.

Oregon daisy, I am so sorry you have to go thru the pain, you will feel so much better when the gall bladder is gone. try not to worry about your hair, it will grow back. Can you ask for Proteins in your IV? Just kidding.

Get well, be healthy. I am sending Angels to be by your side. God bless.

  8. Yea, even putting small portions (3oz) on a salad plate and 6 asparagas spears, (less than half of "normal") I could finish about half of it. It was good fish too! My husband laughs at me also. I only order Soup when we go out then I eat some of his food. Like three bites. I did eat some pumpkin pie yesterday. just the pumpkin part though, not the crust. I do not like to bring home left overs. Don't know why, just don't. Guess I will have to get used to it. Changes come in more ways than just the weight!

  9. Robin34, husbands are so afraid for us. You will be able to have every thing you ate before the surgery. You just have to wait 2 or 3 months until after surgery to start introducing various foods. You will not be able to eat as much cake and ice cream. I had 3 bites of pumkin pie and was FULL. Drinking, I am not doing yet, but do look forward to it. My husband now sees the light, I eat way less and I am a cheap date now. hahahah It took him time to come around to the surgery idea. I hope yours will too. I am curious, when can you have this surgery? I notice you have a 4 month old.

  10. yikes Tiffy! spin and strength on one day and right after each other? wowo you are just superwoman. I am up to 20 min. non stop on the bike level 1 still but my heart rate is up over 100 by 2 min. I do not know when I will get to a spin class stage. 2011? ahahah. anyway keep up the good work . the soreness wears off but the results stay, right? Please oh please oh please.

  11. thinoneday: your sleeve will be your self control tool. You will be so happy with the sleeve. I am one month out and eating regular foods now. I ate the most delicious fish last night. I put a 3 oz size piece on my plate (which is less than half of what I would normally eat) and I managed to finish half of it. I was stuffed. I LOVE seafood. I was so satisfyed. My husband was so amazed at my "self controll" LOL I love him. He does not get how easy it is for me now. maybe I do not want him to understand, just let him be awed by my wonderful power! hahahaha

Worst eating moment this year was last June, I was on the east coast and staying with friends one of whom is a lobster fisherman. He came in with a mega load of lobsters and brought an entire sack over to our house. One guy is a chef so we had this lobster feast. I ate an entire 4+lb lobster, claws and all. about a quarter pound of melted butter and 2 lemons. there was other food on the table, coleslaw, Beans, corn, fishermans-bread and brownies for desert. I cannot remember if I ate any of that. I was soooo sick later. But, by God I had finally had my "fill" of lobster. The next day I had the swollen ankles from hell. we went out in the boat anyway and caught halibut for dinner. I was in heaven that whole week as far as food was concerned. But, I paid the price later. Now, with the sleeve I would not be able to overeat like that. I know I would enjoy myself more for it also. Ahhh the lessons we have to learn. I am tired of attending the school of hard knocks. I think I like my new "sleeve" school waaay better.

  12. I did not tell all my family either. I just did not want to fight over this PERSONAL decision. I would not have done it with out my husbands support. I did have to fight there a bit, but, it was worth it. As he is my partner for life (36 years and still going) I was willing to wait him out and get him on board. I am glad you have a friend to go with you. Whish your family could be more so. I may tell mine at some point. As it is they are all chimming in about my Protein diet and how that is not good for me. hahahahaha. sheeze!

  13. Mine are not healing as well as I would like. The one where thy took my stomach out is fine.all healed up. the one above it ( under my left girl) is a mess. It keeps oozing blood and pus. It was/is a tiny little thing, but, it just won't heal. I am one month out. I am keeping it clean with alcohol. and covered lightly. (gauze) I think I caused this to happen. I wear an underwire bra. I think it irratated that site and ground some dirt in or something. All my other wounds are healing nicely enough. One of them opened up when I took the stiches out. Pcp here said it will heal from the inside out. Will just take longer. I am with Cajun on the scars VS fat. gimme the scars, there is always a one piece suit for the pool. Plus you can say you had some moles removed.

That is what it looks like. There is always tatoos for coverage. LOL Wait for at least a year or two before resorting to that. Tiffy could get a pink (breast cancer) ribbon to cover hers. HA
