  1. I know why you want the phentermine, I went to a meeting with a Dr. about sleeve in mid August. He talked mostly about Band. He said he has had great results using phentermne when people are not loosing (fast)enough. I was flabbergasted. He had only done 6 sleeves and was really pushing the band. (He reccomended band first then sleeve). You know phen is such a bad idea. You can get hooked on that darn stuff so easy, and then what happens when you don't loose on the phen? Look at the long term, stop with the icecream and get eating sleeve-wise! You can do this we will all support you. Keep coming back.

  2. God I hope you get him to a Dr. that can explain away his fears. Mine sat there in the office while I was getting the SynviscOne shot in my knees. The Dr. talked at lenght about how this is a great idea for me, how it would help my knees etc. Still he hesitated until Stoongal's story came up. He made me verify that she was a real person-----She gave me her Email and phone number so he finally gave in.

Wish I could help you some how. They just love us so much and are afraid of loosing us so try to reaffirm how much you want to be around for a long time to recieve that love. Hope it helps.

  3. wow. we are married to the same man! almost. mine finally gave in. He said ok on Monday and I made my appt for 10/15. not letting him back out.Honestly, the Stoongal story is what pushed him over the edge. ( to acceptance) Mine thinks I won't exercise and I will just blow this deal. Hard to succeed with this much negativity around. But I shall, cause I am stubborn too. I sure hope you do not have to wait 5 years. God Bless your parents for giving you the money. Do this for yourself, not against anyone.

  4. sign me up for the cruise. It needs to be next fall though, I won't be thin enough until then. Seriously, you should get some meds for the anxiety . It is just temporary and sounds like you need some help. Age is a factor. When I was younger, I had no fear and could NOT understand people who did. Now I am older and much wiser about all the issues one can have. It does alter your thinking. Go see a therapist and get some help you are not a wimp or weak or any of thoes negative terms. You did a very brave thing for yourself. get that chin up and give yourself a hug. You deserve it. I am behind you 100%

  5. thank you. only two weeks post and you have positive results? wow that is encouraging. I had the SynviscOne injected in both knees 9/17/09. It has provided some relief. I did not even realize how badly I was walking. (short shuffle steps) People have noticed since the shot. My Dr. had the Xrays to show the bone on bone in both knees. I need new ones. He is all for this WLS. so I can get the weight off before surgery on the knees. He thinks I may even be able to prolong the new knees for a couple of years. My Hubby wassitting right there when Dr. was telling me this, and still he has been against it. Bless him, he has finally given in. I so hope I get the results you did.

  6. My knees hurt, my back hurts, I am not going out if I have to wear these ugly clothes again.

    THink I need to make a change!:help:

I have been lurking for months on these boards. :001_unsure:Posting some, but, could not get to the point of an actual date. :confused:Well finally I am on the schedual for Oct. 15.:w00t: When my husband finally said ok I called Sandy that next minute! He was my only obsticale for going ahead with this.

I have 2 friends that are doctors. (peds & Path) I have asked both of them their medical opinion about this surgery.:laugh0: At first they were both "you do not need this, go back to weight watchers or--etc". :svengo:When one of them finally did really hear me, she did send me medical research and agreed with me that this is a path that could help me.:redface1: This was in May 2009 and I became convinced it was the right thing for ME. Then came the decision of who and where to get it done. :tongue_smilie:In that process, I faltered in my determination. I am self pay.:crying: What finally turned the corner for me was Stoongal. At 71 she went and did it all by herself.:001_wub: love her! WOW. See, age is an issue for me also, I am now 63:thumbup1: a very cool 63 thank you, but, I was worried about the "senior" thing. :blush2: Stoongal sure blitzed those fears!:001_tt1:

So, I am going to Dr. Alamanza in T.J. :thumbup:Never thought I would.

I have been researching Dr.s in my area and price is triple.:cursing: Plus they are all selling/pushing the band. None of them have done over a hundred of the sleeves. They all want to do the band first. I undersand they get the fills charges forever. :001_rolleyes:Their pricing reflects this.:) If I could find a surgeon in my area that has done 100+ of these and was only double the price of Mexico I would do it here. :001_huh:(Maybe) But, if I have to travel anyway, it might as well be Mexico. My husband:001_wub: is not happy with going to mexico for 5 days.:sneaky2: He is just putting bricks :mad24:in my path to stumble over, but, honestly, I will over come all his hurdles and still go no matter what.:yesnod: He will support me in the end.

I am not going to tell to many people I am doing this. I do not need to explain myself over and over. :sleep0:I am amazed at the negativity out there. I do not want to waste my energy fighting the mental drainers. :nonod:(nay sayers)

Everyone needs to do their own research and find what is best for them. These boards and others like them make it so easy to get good reliable information.

Decisions can be intellengently made. Even if my spelling is not.:crazy4:

    Forward to wellness.:eek::party4:

  7. stoongal, thanks for the details. congrats on your return. So glad your family has accepted your change. I cannot get my husband on board with this yet. So, I have not made an appt yet. I have a best friend in toon town, would love to have her meet you and the other toon girl. Maybe if she wants to do this we could do it together. Thne my husband would lighten up. (?) So many more issues than just the right Dr. or place to choose. I am so glad you had such a good experience, it helps me.

keep posting progress reports. you can email me direct at carolyn24seven@aol.com.

  8. I'm sure it is normal. was one enough? I can never eat just one of thoes evil things. do not dwell on the negatives. treat yourself like you would a 3year old child who has goofed. it is just a temporary slip. good to write about it. you will be ok again now.

  9. wow Phoenixrising, thank you for that answer. you have helped me make my own personal decision. For the lady in N.C. go the 200 miles. you will not need follow up care with the sleeve. find a nutritionist close to home. From all I have read, With the sleeve a good nutritionist is a God send. I am going to find one that has knowledge in the barriatrict field. Once you get the hang of eating right for your body, it should be simple.

  10. how many Dr.do a barium swallow follow up after 2 years? not many if any i bet. they just go off of what studies are done by Universities. They are also selling this surgery, so they are only going to tell about the positives. The sleeve will only help us get to a healthy lifestyle. my never to be humble opinion.
