I am impressed by the knowledge of our posters. Thank you!

I am 4 months out and have lost over 100 pounds. I was hanging at around 98 - 99 pounds and then the weight loss started again. I am feeling better every day!
-
I had my three month check in today with Dr. Pomp. I have lost 97 pounds, gone down 14 points on the bmi scale, lost 12" around my waist gone from a tight 4x shirt to a 2x shirt. All of my blood work was normal and I feel fantastic.
I got my sleeve as the first part of a two stage DS. I am hoping that the sleeve is the only surgery that i will need.
My only regret is that I did not do it sooner!

I just got cleared for salad today at my three month check up.
I am actually looking forward to having one!

I am also in need of a knee replacement. Before my sleeve surgery I was in pain mostly every day. About two weeks after surgery I had a cortisone shot and five weekly shots of Hyalgan. Right now I have no pain at all. I am walking at least 2 miles a day. I am also using an elliptical machine that has helped me build strength in my knee and its great exercise. I am 46 years old so I need to wait as long as I can before I get my knee replaced. My doctor said that weight loss is the best way for me to put the surgery off.

I think the people that know I have had the surgery see my weight loss but do not say anything, almost like i am cheating by having surgery. Like a baseball player who is on steroids. Its a weird thing. My wife definitely notices and my daughter can get her hands to touch when she hugs me. most importantly i can see it!

My nutritionist told me that "last meal" eating is normal. I did really did not do all that much damage and now 7 weeks after my sleeve I am doing fine.

Your initial consultations should be covered either way. Mine was. Once the surgeon tries to get approval for a VSG thats when the fight starts. I was lucky they approved mine on the first try.

Hi Tara:
I was sleeved on September 3rd. I had some very bad gas pains that i felt in my shoulder. The nurses said this is pretty typical. By the time i left the hospital I was fine. I did not have a drainage tube.
Good luck on your surgery

I am glad that you posted. I have not been able to get much past the protien on my plate. I the past I have taken psyllium husk as a fiber suppliment. I e-mailed my PA to see if it was okay to go back to them. I am trying to get in the fluids but it can be tough. I hope you are feeling better!

Welcome! I have always been very good at losing weight but not so good at keeping it off. Now that I am sleeved I hope to beable to keep it off forever. I will not be easy but this is the best tool for long term success.
-
No stall yet! The best part about is that I have not been hungery. I have been eating between 500 and 700 calories a day. I know the stall will come but for now I am feeling pretty good!

I had my surgery on September 3, 2009. My surgery was done by Dr. Alfons Pomp at NYP hospital. In one month I have lost 49 Pounds. I have gone down 6" around my waist. I have gone from a tight 4X shirt to a loose 3X. I am walking daily and hoping to be able to expand my workouts after I see the Dr. on Monday. I have been lucky enough to be out of work for the whole month as I really have used this time to heal and focus on myself. I have started talk therapy to try to circumvent the head hunger.
Getting sleeved was the best decision I have made for myself. While I know I have a long way to go I really feel like I have the tools that I need to be successful. Thanks to everyone here as this forum helped me decide on this surgery. The fourm has also been helpful with my after surgery questions.

My dog has benefited from all of my walking. He and I are up to 3 miles per day. He is great company!
-

The insurance companies are realizing that in the long run the WLS is cheaper for them. I guess that is a good thing.

omorrow I will be 2 weeks out from surgery. I found these super whey Protein Shots. They are 26 grams and only 90 calories. fruit punch flavored only one carb. So far I like these. They do not have the Isopure here so I am going to order so to see if I like it better. I just can't seem to stand anything related to milk? I used to love milk.
ANY regrets getting the Vertical Sleeve?
