ANY regrets getting the Vertical Sleeve?
kromrider replied to pumpkin07's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I started at 395. I have lost 130+ pounds and I am not yet 6 months out. At first I was having this proceedure done as part one of a DS. Since I have lost the amount of weight that I have and I continue to lose, we are hoping that this will be my only surgery. I have no regrets and aside from a occational reflux (I suffered from reflux prior to my weight loss surgery) I do not have any side affects. For me this was the best thing i could have ever done. If you have any specific questions send my a PM. -

100 lb club in less than 4 months
kromrider replied to Bbell's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 4 months out and have lost over 100 pounds. I was hanging at around 98 - 99 pounds and then the weight loss started again. I am feeling better every day! -
I had my three month check in today with Dr. Pomp. I have lost 97 pounds, gone down 14 points on the bmi scale, lost 12" around my waist gone from a tight 4x shirt to a 2x shirt. All of my blood work was normal and I feel fantastic. I got my sleeve as the first part of a two stage DS. I am hoping that the sleeve is the only surgery that i will need. My only regret is that I did not do it sooner!

Officially lost 100lbs

Congrats Tif! That is really quite an accomplishment. You are an inspiration. -
I am also in need of a knee replacement. Before my sleeve surgery I was in pain mostly every day. About two weeks after surgery I had a cortisone shot and five weekly shots of Hyalgan. Right now I have no pain at all. I am walking at least 2 miles a day. I am also using an elliptical machine that has helped me build strength in my knee and its great exercise. I am 46 years old so I need to wait as long as I can before I get my knee replaced. My doctor said that weight loss is the best way for me to put the surgery off.

when do others notice?
kromrider replied to attitudefree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the people that know I have had the surgery see my weight loss but do not say anything, almost like i am cheating by having surgery. Like a baseball player who is on steroids. Its a weird thing. My wife definitely notices and my daughter can get her hands to touch when she hugs me. most importantly i can see it! -
Hi I am new to the form and I am scheduled for my VSG on September 3, 2009 with Dr Pomp in NYC. Over the last two weeks I have really been eating out of controll. I treat every meal like it might be my last. no matter what i do I can't seem to get a handle on it. Anyone have any sugestions?

Eating out of controll
kromrider replied to kromrider's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutritionist told me that "last meal" eating is normal. I did really did not do all that much damage and now 7 weeks after my sleeve I am doing fine. -
I am afrain not to measure my foods! I have a weight watchers scale and I weigh everything.
-
Your initial consultations should be covered either way. Mine was. Once the surgeon tries to get approval for a VSG thats when the fight starts. I was lucky they approved mine on the first try.

I like eggs. I usually eat 1 scrambled egg cooked soft. I either add 1 slice of FF cheese or 1oz ham. I get fresh brown eggs and they are a nice treat! I almost forgot I fry them in smart balance light. About 1 teaspoon. Adds a nice flavor.

Hi Tara: I was sleeved on September 3rd. I had some very bad gas pains that i felt in my shoulder. The nurses said this is pretty typical. By the time i left the hospital I was fine. I did not have a drainage tube. Good luck on your surgery

Fluids and Fiber - TMI story but important
kromrider replied to DownInSocal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am glad that you posted. I have not been able to get much past the protien on my plate. I the past I have taken psyllium husk as a fiber suppliment. I e-mailed my PA to see if it was okay to go back to them. I am trying to get in the fluids but it can be tough. I hope you are feeling better! -
Welcome! I have always been very good at losing weight but not so good at keeping it off. Now that I am sleeved I hope to beable to keep it off forever. I will not be easy but this is the best tool for long term success.
