Had a GOOD day today :))
Had a good FOUR days!! I've exercised everyday but today- and I really havn't done the 5DPT as it should be done, I just went back to basics, just Protein drinks and broth etc. I might try it next week- I'll be on vacation. The 5DPT is suppose to help you get back to how you felt in the beginning of your surgery, it's not for those just starting out- I'm gonna be 9 months out on the 9th of Nov. and being at a stall and knowing I can eat more, I want to get that feeling back and more control back. Here's the link explaining it better.... Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test I'm also a member of her site, very informative but mostly RNY. I think just a few days of really Paying close attention to what I was eating and HOW I was eating, made me refocus. I'm not a "normal" person.... I can't pretend to be. I will always have to pay attention to what I eat. But I feel good today too!!

Had a GOOD day today :))
We all talked about getting serious again, and today was my first day!:crying: I exercised for 30 minutes this morning, and I decided to go back to basics like when I first had my surgery. There is a site that talks about the 5 day pouch test, and I started it today. Today is clear liquids, and I have done well, and I also got in 80 oz of water :001_tongue: I also had an appointment with my PCP and he and his nurse are some of my biggest supporters!! He kept telling me how proud he was of me! He's also curious if I had seen my doc that did my knee replacement, they're buddies and he kept say Charrette isn't gonna know its YOU! So that kind if kept me motivated all day! I felt so good when I left his office. My nine months is Nov. 9th, so we're gonna go ahead and do my Labs this week, I go back to see him in 10 days! Great First day!!!!!! Anyone else have a Great day???? POST it here........ lets stay motivated!

Scheduled for tomorrow - OMG!!!
I just got in from the doctors(my PCP ), and there was a new nurse there and she was discussing my weight loss and I told her I had the Verticle Sleeve done, and she had the band........ a few minutes later she commented that she had never heard of it, and what does it do? fit over the band??? I was about floored! But I just explained the procedure very simply.....

Do you consume more calories than you think?
I've been half heartedly using several, but I started fresh with Myfitnesspal.... it's really pretty good, you can even make your own exercises to do... in my case I just logged Knee replacement exercises- so I can keep up that I'm doing them! So it's gonna be the only one I use from now on!

Chicken Pot Pie
Ok... I altered this one a bit... I just pan cooked mychicken on low till tender- and for the veggies I just used a large size bag of frozen mixed veggies ( I let them thaw at room temp before adding) I actually think it would be great with a boiled chicken shredded. The next time I make it thats wht I'm gonna do. I;ve already made this about 3 times, but warning......... IT MAKES ALOT!! Chicken Pot Pie 1/4 cup butter 1/4 cup flour 1 cup fat-free milk 2 cups chicken broth 1 lb chicken breast 1 cup chopped onion 1 cup chopped carrots 1 cup peas 1 medium potato, chopped 1/2 green Beans Salt, pepper, Italian seasoning 1 store bought Pie Crust First, cook your chicken. I cooked mine in a slow cooker for 6 hours on high. You could pan "fry", use left over chicken, or chicken from a can. Next, to make the gravy, melt butter in sauce pan and flour. Stir. Add milk. Continue stirring. Mixture will start to thicken. Add chicken broth and seasonings. Add vegetables and chicken. Let cook on medium heat while you prepare pie crust. Here's a Tip: As bandsters, we are always looking for ways to reduce calories. So with store bought pie crusts, I roll them out on a floured surface to make thinner. Then I cut it to the size I need. With this pot pie, I only used 2/3rds of the original pie crust. Hey, it saved me about 200 calories off my total dish. Anyhow, fill an oven safe dish with the chicken and vegetables. Then top with your pie crust. Bake at 350 for about 1 hour. Makes a ton! Somewhere between 8-10 bandster portions with about 200 calories per serving.

Unapproved for Sleeve - Ready to CRY
JoAnn- I don't have any advice or information- just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you! It really is a shame with these insurance companies... don't they realize this is like preventive medicin? All the comorbidies that go along with extra weight........ It's frustrating!! Keep up the positive attitude! I'm sure there will be someone to come along and answer your questions.

Dreamy cheesy crockpot chicken
Cajun- you sound like I was- was very hard for me to get in my protein- I was very sick the first few months. I still use protein drinks to get in my protein. I'm also glad that you mentioned the hair loss.... I never dreamed it would haopen to me. but at 5 months out it DID!! I was taking no precautions because I always had a thick head of hair. I'd reccomend anyone that had weight loss surgery to take extra hair and nails vitamins, and I also started using a topical solution of Minoxidil- Generic at Wal-mart and I can see a difference! I ended up cutting my hair a bit shorter and I can see a difference lots of new hair groth.

Do you consume more calories than you think?
GREAT responce guys!! Getting me motivated too Susan!! I'm gonna be under 200 pounds for your Birthday toooooooooooo!!! Before I logged on, I already made my eating plan for the day, and did my morning exercises...... I AM SERIOUS- getting back to basics. I think alot of my problem is I have gotten too comfortable at the weight I'm at now. I'm in a size 14 pants which I havn't seen in MANY years...... and going from a highest weight of 373- welll--- I FEEL almost skinny... I know it sounds crazy. I don't want to stay at this weight, but it is such an improvement to where I was.... does that make any sence at all???? So I'm shooting for 199 by Nov. 1st!

Do you consume more calories than you think?
I was doing really good at journalling all of my eating, then tonight I decided to go to a new site I found: http://www.fitclick.com/ It's free- kinda like fitday- but when I added up everything I ate today............:sad0::sad0::thumbdown: So I was wondering if anyone else is going thru this?? Maybe thats why I'm at a stall?? I also checked when I last logged on and only lost 14 pounds in 60 days:confused: I wanna be at ONEderland by Susans Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2nd follow up done now I have questions...
I'm one of those that WANTS to see my surgen. My PCP was one of his patients too... so I use both of them. My surgen has BLISS insurance and it hasn't cost me a thing to see him, and I have insurance that pays for my PCP visits- so why wouldn't I use them both??? I was never on prilosex, but after the first month my surgen gave me Nexium. I only take it when I need it. I needed it the first month or two- infact- I just got my script filled. I wanna know its there IF I do need it. I don't know why they want to ween you off.. but some docs just don't like to dispence ANY kinda drug- and Phenegan is one of them. One of my docs in the past did that too. only 12 pills! Hope you get things sorted. why not try to change docs? do you have that option?

Surgery in 2 days!!!!
Stoongal hit the nail on the head..... said about everything. I brought my personal night gowns, but ended up just using the hospital gowns. Only suggestion I could make was to take your measurments the night before- you will be amazed at the difference!! Keep a journal, with measurements, food experiences etc. Will be thinking of you!

Scheduled for tomorrow - OMG!!!

Dreamy cheesy crockpot chicken
I know what you mean about recipes making tooo much! This one wasn't too bad, and my son is here, so that helps. But usually when i cook something that makes alot, I freeze some or I live on it for the week....take to work for lunch and have for dinner. I know alot of people get bored with this, but I HATE to waste food! It's probably what got me in trouble in the first place!
-
Drinking cokes anyone?
Thin- When you wrote about drinking all in one swig....... THAT was me TOO! I could suck the bottom outta a beer in no time flat! A 2 liter of coke was nothing to be gone QUICKLY! That was one of my biggest concerns prior to surgery..... can I "Sip"? Yes.......I CAN!! And I wasn't all too crazy about water, but now, if I don't have one in my hands I feel like something is "missing" LOL I always make sure I have one when I drive, and I drink so much water ( with crystal light in it ) I usually pack 2. You will get the hang of it, just like me and all the others have. I don't know if you read my story at all, but I had doubts too, and researched for 3 years, not wanting to spend the money, but ended up being a self pay and now wish I had done it 10 years ago! You'll do just fine!!!

Is this normal
Do I regret anything??? NO WAY!! Do I regret being able to wear a size 14 pants instead of a "stretch" 4X?? Go from a size 5X to a XL/1X??? Do I regret being able to eat a 'normal/smaller portions of food' and feel FULL??? Do I regret being able to tie my shoe? Do I regret being able to exercise?? THOSE are just the "cosmetic" points of view.... Do I regret having normal BP? Normal Sugars?? Normal Cholestorol? Normal breathing? Normal or above normal activity level? Nope. I would do it again in a heart beat! The only regret I have is not having it done sooner....... but I have it now, and have to work at it every day, but it is worth it!
