  1. Hi Steph- Is it the poor food choices, or eating more than you are able? eating too fast? too much and not getting th signal that you're full? This surgury is eventually going to let us eat "normal"... but our "normal" will never be able to eat much of it. However, what scares me is I see I am able to eat more than I could at 3 months out. I LIKED that feeling of just being able to eat a few bites... I KNOW me....... I KNOW I liked to bindge...... eat ALOT...... and if I can eat more now at 9 months.... how much MORE will I be able to eat at 18 months?? and so on? We have to know what we want out of this. We're going to make poor choices, we're human... and the thing with food is............ we HAVE to have it to survive. But we have to know what we want. We can't say I'll never have another piece of cake again in my life...... as soon as I'm told I CAN'T... I WANT. It's being able to have the cake, a small piece, enjoy it, and put it away. Not eat the entire cake and be sick. Not feel guilty, it's what I had, and now I can move on. I'm glad your getting counciling..... I still haven't found someone I feel comfortable with... but I want to find someone. I havn't had as sever issuse as you describe, but I know all too welll... it could be me tomorrow.
  2. JoAnn- Just because your surgery will be a rny- is no reason to leave here. We're all here for the common goal- to lose weight- to help each other thru difficult times and to support each other in good times. encourage, support, be friends.... and that can happen here too. I've belonged to groups where I'm th only sleeve person, but our goal are the same. Their might be a few differences in our surgeries, but the end result will be the same! Of course I understand you might want to be around others that had the same surgery as yourself- but we're all here for the united goal of weight loss, ideas, eating habits, and just all around support! I've made the comment that if my insurance would have covered the RNY- thats where I would have been, but I sdtill connected with alot of people here, and I would have remainded a memeber here. I just wanna say congrats to you! Get done what needs to be done! I know I'm behind you!As I'm sure the others are too!!
  3. My NSV for yesterday was I was getting ready for my first day back to work after Vacation- and decided to try on a pair of pants I bought for 8 bucks 2 months ago........ Size 14 and they fit! COMFORTABLEY!! I almost forgot about them... some pants as you know fit diferently- 'cause I been in a 14 in other pants. Then, being at work after being off, people saying how "skinny" I'm getting.... it still blows me away- 200 pounds + and SKINNY??? But still nice to hear:001_tt2:
  4. WTG NORMA!!! 32 Pounds is WONDERFUL!!! Hope your knee surgery goes smoothly and you have it done soon.... I know how much of a pain it can be. G'luck to you!!
  5. I'm 9 months out and down 150 pounds...... and I STILL have trouble knowing when I'm full. I sometimes push the envelope, and take one bite too many and then I'm miserable. It's a learning process, listen to your body- but it doesn't happen overnight. I don't have "hunger" signals....... I have no hunger. Every now and then I might get the feeling like i want to eat. I do have "head hunger". Think something sounds good... try it.... and YUCK. My biggest problem to overcome was NOT eating.... even if I'm not hungry per/say... I eat 3 times a day. I don't always do this like I should... I might skip dinner if it gets too late...... but I do try to eat three times a day.
  6. DALITEDESIGNS- Welcome and Congratulations on your Date!! Nerves and jitters are normal, we've all been there........ and you will do just fine! Again- Welcome and can't wait to hear about your success!!
  7. I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE the NSV'S!!!!! As Bob said, they're almost better than seeing the scale move...... and plenty more to come!!!
  8. WTG Bob!!! WOW- 85 pounds in 4 months........ thats FANTASTIC!! I lost alot of weight quick, but I think I was the "heavyweight" in here:blush: I'm of course concerned with how I look. being single and all:001_tongue::crying: But am more concerned with how I FEEL!!
  9. I was told by my doctors and by my accountant that weight loss surgery is deductable because being over weight is now concisered a disease like diabetes.. etc. I don't know all the details, but guess I'll find out in Feb. when I do my taxes!
  10. I know all about knee pain! It's AWFUL! Take care of the knee......I just had a total knee replacement and it has really been wonderful! The weight will still come off, and you can always do arm exercises, and lying on the bed sit ups, and streches ( thats what I did ) and still do. Just be careful of the knee until you see your doc. G'luck and hope you get to feeling better soon.

  12. Personally- that list is way too many carbs. Even at 9 months out I don't eat cereal, rice, pasta, or bread, or crackers of any kind.... or drink any juice. I stay away from the carbs, I might have a baked potatoe or mashed potatoes MAYBE once a week, more like once every 2 weeks. I stick to fish and chicken. I did add pork to my diet at 6 months. I also do turkey. I eat that first- then a veggie or sometimes just the meat. Personal choice as I said.... I know my weaknesses, and carbs are a BIG ONE... so I stay clear of them. But why go back into bad habits having gone thru all this??
  13. Keep up the good work Judy! You've just been on meds a short while, so whatever you're doing, seems to be working!! Keeping fingers crossed for a Dec. Date for you! Glad to see the numbers coming down!
  14. I'm 5'8" But I look sooo much taller- Doc has my weight goal for 160-At times I think that will be VERY skinny for me. I am large boned. I definitly want to get there..... but right now am very anxious to get to 180-190. I don't know about 145 at my height and bone structure.... will just have to wait and see..... but it sounds wonderful!!
  15. Welcome KZol!! I was a self pay- researched for several years, and when the time came- I just went for it. Yes, lots of fears, concerns, but was more concerned that I would not be able to work anymore the way I was going.... Being a self Pay- my doc got me in right away- only thing that slowed me down was having to quit smoiking for a month- or I believe he would have done it the next day! LOL
  16. WTG Ryan!! And ya know what?? It just gets better and better!! I hadn't thought about the snoring....... I snored like a freight train, and use to wake myself up.....( not very lady-like ) hmmmmmmm...... that hasn't happened.... wonder if I quit snorring???
  17. Thanks everyone! I made it thru nights, am on Vac... and go back to days on Monday. I got a feeling tho that I'll be put on nights after Christmas.... so will have to come back to this thread. I actually lost 2 pounds working overnights! I was soooo busy that a few nights I didn't even sit down. Not good, but it was necessary.
  18. Linda- I use the Body Fortress Cookies N' Creme- It's kinda sweet- I couldn't drink it early out, but now I LOVE it in coffee. My bad- it has 270 cals ( per 2 scoops) 7 carbs 52 protein I split it up between 3-4 cups of coffee........ yeah. ino probably drinking too much coffee, but I love it in the mornings now. They sell it at wal-mart, but not all walmarts carry this flavor. I can only find it at one store, so I usually buy 2 at a time at 14.99 each. Last a long time. Loved your answer Social!! Gonna try it for lunch today! They had all different kinds, I just got the original to be safe, but I love garlic- have you tried that flavor?
  19. I'm 50 I've lost 148 pounds... and I don't have that turkey neck going on!! LOL..... I was worried about that ( ino ino ino....... vainity) I think I look older....... but I've had alot of people tell me I look 10 years younger.... were they just being nice?? who knows.... But I can say this....... I FEEL 10 years younger! I'll take the looking older/feeling better any day to the being morbidly obese!
  20. Yes- Losing hair is part of it... And Vegas, Thats about the time I started losing mine, about 5 months out. I also had alot of hair, and didn't think it would effect me... WRONG... it did. So my suggestion is to start taking OTC VITAMINS .. HAIR, SKIN AND NAILS, and I also use Minoxidil ( generic from Wal-mart) its a liquid that you put on your hair twice a day. It has worked and I have alot of new growth. I'd take the precaution- even if you don't lose your hair- it won't hurt... but could prevent it from happening.

  23. Burnout- GREAT Post...opened my eyes to a few things, I like the line you used.... "Do you know the guy that is overweight, and just lets his beard out cos there's no point in shaving? Well that changed." Even when I was at my worst, I would do my hair and make up ( it would ruin fast from sweating... but I did it anyway )... but it became a chore... now I do it because I LIKE to... and WANT to. "How about the guy that neglects friends and passes on outings? no more of that..I find myself WANTING to do fun stuff...laziness is departing gradually from my life." How about the "girl"... did the same here too...... and am feeling quite differently now too! It's so good to see you post... and you hit the nail on the head with alot of what you said... male or female, Being overweight.......... we have the same emotions and feelings. And alot of adjustments to make getting our lives back in order. I'm really glad you're doing so well!! And don't stay away so long!! Gotta know whats going on with you! LOL Big Hugs!!!
  24. Thank you all for EVERYTHING! I feel very comfortable in this group, and I think we all bare our souls. I was a bit "weepy", having to take my son back to East TN. the long drive ( 5 hours there- and 5 hours back ) The beginnings of a cold, and just got depressed. Lots of thinking I was doing on the ride home. Believe it or not, I'm actually alot more "mentally" healthy as well as becoming more "physically" healthy. I appreciate the hands out to me, and to all the members that need it, I believe it is heartfelt! Thank you again, and am so glad I found this group!
  25. Is Chike the one that advertises for it's coffee?? I've been wanting to try that one... anyone know?
