  1. Yipppppppppppy Tiffys Home!!!!

So glad you're home tooo!! Have missed your posts!!

Glad you had a good time... and I understand all too well about the coooking! Moving here is when my weight got outta hand, and then LEARNING how to cook like this sure didn't help!

    WOW- 6 pounds!!

I need your strength! I'da caved lol

Still fighting to get under 200- but am back on the wagon!!!

Good to see you home Tif! Glad you had a good time!

    And just like Dorothy said...

    "There's no place like HOME!"

  2. Hi! And welcome to the boards!

Congratulations on your surgery- and don't beat yourself up! You're far tooo early out to be getting stressed!

    The sleeve will work-

Keep a positive attitute and follow the rules... and it will happen!!

It sounds like you're doing the right things, so be patient... you didn't put the weight on overnight... and it will take a little while, but it will come off!!

And it will go faster than you think!

  3. 201.2 This morning

    Up exactly 1 pound

This week was Thanksgiving- large dinners, Dinners at work... Snacks.

I think I did pretty good.... I did have the forbidden chocolate this week at work:cursing:

I needed it to put up with the crazies on "Black Friday" Totatally INSANE!!

    I had our dinner Yesterday-

Had a nice day! My youngest couldn't make it home, but a friend of his was going to West TN and took him some food

( I was able to send alot!! )

But it was nice to cook and spend time with family and friends. And I didn't tatse while cooking.... and when I ate- I took a bite of everything... and thats about all I had " A BITE" wasn't a good eating day for me... but that was ok...still enjoyed it!

I sent the pies and most of the food home with my oldest son, and will freeze whats left. Very hard to make a "small feast" lol

I've had several drinks this past week.. so think alot of the calories came from that and the chocolate-

    Back on the wagon-

New week- I didn't measure today- lazy I guess.

But I know I put the jeans on I just bought... way big!

Might go shopping tomorrow- will try on a 12 - crazy stuff!

  4. Donedidit-

Yes- I did it too..... and I also spent 5 days in the hospital because of it. I haven't run into anyone else that spent that many days in the hospital because of nausea and vomiting.

If it's any consulation, I'm now 9 months out..... 154 pounds lighter......... and it DOES pass. I had no one to talk to and hadn't found this site until I was a bout 6 months out.

I too had no complications with the surgery, everything went according to plan, but I was one of the ones that got sick. I've nevere had problems with anesthesia, and I think that made me sick too. Also the pain meds they gave me made me sick, and never had problems with that either.

I was sick for about 3 months. Not every day, but it was a constant battle.

It is all a blur, in the past, I survived it and so will you. I hope your's doesn't last as long as mine did. I still will get sick if I eat too much or too fast....

Just take your time when you eat, it has a lot to do with it. Even when I thought I was eating slow..... I wasn't.....

I still can't eat breakfast- I have Protein drinks for my morning meal. If they bothered me, I can't remember- because I knew I had to get my Protein in.

I wish I could help you more, but the best advice I can give you is to document everything, keep a food journal, and how things effect you- try it again in a month... and see how you do.

Drink your Water, sip sip sip- don't get dehydrated. One thing that sat well with me was powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken broth... it was soothing, and I liked how it tasted.

G'luck to you and if you ever want to talk... just IM me!

  5. Lan-

I just had my Thanksgiving dinner today- both me and my son had to work and my youngest is in east TN. But I had to cook... I always do. And even tho he's 28 my son was really wanting it.

How do you cook "small" was my first question to myself... it didn't happen... got enough here to feed this whole community of VSG'ers LOL

Second- I couldn't eat... didn't even want to. They all know my situation- so there was no fuss over it... but it was just nice to have everyone around.

So my answer to you is yes... go.. be social- just don't make a fuss over it. If you can eat- GREAT!!! But if you can't, just enjoy everyones company, and don't fret about it. Don't let the others if they have something to say about you not eating get you down. Just smile and say you ate earlier and aren't hungry. Whatever, just don't let it consume you.

I do have to add...... I NEVER have an appetite. does anyone else? I just know I have to eat 3 times a day, and I try. Thats why I get frustrated with not getting under 200. But I am still struggleing with the "chocolate" slide food/ doesn't hurt me... doesn't make me full...... but makes it worse to even eat real food!

  6. I really lost alot on top- I was a 54 and my ribcage measurment now is a 38. My cup size is a C but think I am in between sizes... I will end up a B- I'm sure.

I finnally found some bras that make me look almost "perky":lol0:

I am going for a lower body lift.... and will see what happens. My legs and stomach are in so much worse shape than the "girls"

But can tell you if I could afford it- I'd have it all done.

  7. Walmart has a generic minoxidil liquid hair treatment and it WORKS.... I litterally had a bald spot right in front from my hair loss- I use it twices a day and also take hair skin and nails Vitamins.

    I highly recomend it.

( I use to be a hair dresser too)

all the ingredients are the same as the name brand... so don't waste your money on the name brand. I noticed a big difference and the hair trap in my bathtub isn't full everyday like it use to be or the floor covered in hair after I dry it.

And for the newbies... I wish I had started it sooner... but I didn't think it would happen to me... and I tooo have THICK hair,... I'd be bald if I didn't have so much hair!

  8. WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!

    WTG BOB!!!

I'm really happy for you and of course I had to go check out the tat before I posted here ;)

I told myself I was gonna get one when I made "goal"... and I want it sooooooooooooo bad!

I gotta get me a new computer....... I've got several on here that I have to make a "Century card hold"

I'll have it for you as soon as I get things under control!!

    Again...... congratulations!!

  9. I'd like to sell my house at times......... I really like where it is, and I do Like my house.. but its way tooo big for just me...

    4 bedroom-2 story..........heck- I don't even know what the upstairs looks like!!!:001_rolleyes:

My kids don't want me to sell.... but I just don't know what to do at times...but it would be nicde to have a nice lil 2 bedroom house!

  10. I would also like to wish every one a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm so happy that I found this site, and I feel so right at "home" here.

So Thank you all my VSG Family!

I have so much to be thankful for this year- mainly getting my life back. Not just exsisting... but living again!

Even Thankful that I have to go to work today, because there are many without jobs, and at times I dont realize this and get angry that in retail it cuts into our personal lives, but I am greatful to have a job and able to support myself.

    So happy Thanksgivng everyone!

    Remeber.........Protein first today!!!

  11. Mona-

Your fears are soooooo very normal!! The first month is alot of "What if's".....

We're getting use to alot of things and sometimes our "head hunger" is there.

My fear was I had SO much weight to lose-I really didn't think it was possible, but here I am 9 months out and down 154 pounds!!!

    Thats a WHOLE person !!

It will be a bumpy road, but it's been traveled by many who have succeeded.... once you start eating, seeing the weight come off, the inches almost "melt" away- your fears will subside.

You will also have "stalls" and they might come back.... but just keep making the right choices, drink your water- and get in your Protein, and it will get better!

I am there right now- a stall- but my bad... I KNOW what to do- I actually need to eat MORE... to lose, and this time of year I am so busy with work, I get home late and don't want to eat.

But I'll get over this hump...and am not getting discouraged. And as far as eating and not being able to stop.... You WILL know... and you will stop.

If you ever just wanna chat.. IM me.

Hoping you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  12. Daughterinlaw-

First I'd like to say I'm so sorry that your MIL -you and your family are going thru this. I know it has to be difficult.

I appreciate you writing your story, and I believe we need to hear it all- the good and the bad.

Prior to my surgury, I read alot of "negative" post- I got scared, but what it did was make me research more, weigh my options and make an informed decision.

As with any surgury- this should not be taken lightly- it IS SURGURY.

I think DeeDee said it well- you need to help her thru this. You need to become informed and educated and help her thru this difficult time. I'm sorry to hear that she didn't follow her doctors instructions, so maybe you can help her with this. It does sound like she needs alot of help and support.

Wishing you and your family only the best- especially on this Thanksgiving day!

  13. Hi Bob-

What a great idea! After the last two weeks I sure do need one! And retail............. sigh... will be ruff till the 1st of the year!

What a great way to kinda reward yourself too!! I might have to find time to schedule one for myself!!

  14. Sweetie-

Everyone is different... just as long as you "know" your full- and not over doing it.. you're ok...

Listen to your body... I don't know how far out you are.. but there are times I can eat ALOT.... and then on other days.... hardely anything... a few bites of something.. and I am done.

I went for chinese last week.. really hungry- got take out figuring I could have it for a few meals.. well I could only eat about 3 bites.... LITTERALLY and i took it home. there are days I just can't swallow it... or I know I will be sick. I have learned that feeling.. the way it tastes .. and I have to quit.

So there really isn't a "normal"... it's what your body responds to.

  15. OMG....... don't turn in your "man card"

There was a book out about 20 years ago ( gezzzzzzzeeeeee.. showing my age)

"Real men don't eat Quiche"-but ya know what? They do!!! LOL

( It REALLY is good )

Just don't think it would be the thing to take on a hunting trip tho.

Belive me when I tell ya- I liked the "man food" all too well........ ( just look at my before pic) but your new stomach will let you know how much of it you can have.

But- with anything- this surgery is a "tool"- and yes... you can gain weight with any weightloss surgery... so it is a decision you have to make how much to eat etc.

    G'luck to you!!!
