That's kindof a red flag for me. The fact that she won't attempt any weightloss through traditional means but she's gunning for surgery. its as if she's treating this as a vanity procedure - a boob job or a Tummy Tuck. I don't think she has any idea what she's getting into.
Honestly though, this may be the only way for her to practice Portion Control. That's such a hard one. She's not actually addressing why she wants to have SURGERY. Just what she wants the outcome to be. We don't live in a toaster society. You can't just push a button and have what you want.
Why surgery instead of attempting to diet? Why one but not the other? Surgery is a last resort, not a first. That's the question. Why one but not the other? I hope she will answer that for you
Have you tried talking to her surgeon friend? Ask him why he thinks she should have the surgery if she refuses to try to eat healthy?

Have you noticed, toss the bun is pretty much universal from everyone that has posted? If you want to have a bun, ask for it extra toasted (crispy) and still chuck most of it. Protein, protein, protein! I rode my motorcycle the Sturgis rally in 2010, 8 weeks after I was sleeved. I was miserable because I was so unprepared.I satyed 2 nights and came home (1300 miles each way). Good luck on your trip, you are going to do great!

I don't care about the food - as long as I'm not hungry, I could care less. Would it be nice to have a big juicy burger tonite? Yup - but I can't yet so I won't until I can. There's a bigger picture. You MUST deal with your head hunger. Get counseling before you end up turning this REALLY bad.

If I could have asked for Jesus directly to heal me (like he did so many in the times talked about in the New Testament) I would have asked for him to heal me from being fat - to heal me to be a "normal weight" person. So, I did ask Jesus to heal me - be guiding the hand of my surgeon - by helping the people that were involved in my surgery in the hospital - by giving my husband patience to make it through my recovery - and for myself to have the strength and wisdom to do what was necessary to use this tool correctly and to change my life.
Jesus gave me what I prayed for.

The other line is "how about you let me worry about that. I'm sure you have enough of your own personal issues that need attention"

Before the sleeve, I was never able to eat meat that was cooked past medium. I felt it was dry and lost all of its flavor. I think any meat that's dry is flavorless and pretty much always have. I think juiciness is the key to the flavor AND nutrients. You cook them all away if you turn the meat to shoe leather

went back this evening for a quick checkup - got my antibiotics and pain meds for the night - and the blue goo to drink in the morning. They take out my iv thingy, my drain and do my xray tomorrow. Then I go home. Its been quite a great trip actually - the whole staff is so delightful.

My sleeve sister is going alone, but not anymore. I will be there!!! My husband is going and he will also help if she needs anything.
Your not crazy but it is not a bad idea to start a post and see if anyone is going there to the same Dr. on the same day as you. Or better yet, get a hold of your coordinator and ask her if there is anyone. It is just a buddy, not responsibility. Sharing the experience. Best of Lick to you.

Eating Soups, mushies or other foods with high liquids is going to allow your pyloric valve to open up allowing more food to be put into your tummy. When you eat dense Proteins, just the opposite happens. The valve stays closed and you feel the restriction. This is one of the reasons why you shouldn't drink while you eat.
Since you are eating pizza, you should be able to eat dense Protein. Give that a try and see how much you can eat, but don't overdo it. Your sleeve is still healing ...
