  1. Are you losing "Friends" now that you are losing weight?

Someone you think of as a "good friend" is someone you thought for all intents and purposes they would be supportive and that they would genuinely be happy for you as you get smaller and healthier. The sad truth is many of us will lose good friends because they might think we have changed so much that it messes with the dynamic of the friendship. They become jealous or uncomfortable with the new us.

    Has this happened to you?

  2. @ agreed "scrawny butt" is not nice at all.

I wonder if perhaps some might take offense to being called skinny and confusing it with the lack of self confidence. I highly doubt most are saying skinny in an offensive manner. I'm sure most of us just aren't used to being called that and maybe we don't feel skinny... but in the eyes of another person we really are. In comparison to who we used to be we are. It is in my opinion a compliment.

  3. Just a reminder that the Bypass is not a guarantee that you won't be able to eat sweets anymore. It will help your blood sugars almost immediately. The dumping though is only true for about half of the people. That said you can still get dumping with the sleeve too. I did.

The proper eating comes from a strong mind, nothing else. Whatever you choose, you're going to have to put all your willpower into it. 100%

  4. I make myself a Protein power shake first thing in the morning. Several reasons, it helps to ensure I'm getting all my Protein in for the day, I take my daily supplements mixed in with it which also helps from making me nauseated from them, it gets my metabolism started right away and not only that I do a workout early in the morning and immediately after we should get a minimum of 15g protein to help repair the damage from it. Whew... long winded... did you get all that? ;)

I've been doing this since 2008. I'm fine and in fact I believe is a huge reason why I don't look run down, instead healthy. No one would ever suspect I had WLS. Not that I'm hiding it, I just don't want to look like I'm all sucked up.

  5. Oh no not the booty! ;) Sounds like you're already doing lunges and squats perhaps? Try using Kettlebells, or weights while doing them too. Also any leg workouts flex your glutes too at the same time. Squeeze squeeze squeeze! I kid you not it works.

There's also a workout DVD called the Brazilian butt lift (I think that's what it's called) sold through beachbody. Try that. I've never used it but I heard it does work.

    Good luck to ya. :)

  6. Couple things going on with me, firstly today is day 206 that I am sugar free! I don't eat anything with more than 5g of sugar per serving except natural fruit. I then only eat half of one serving. That is probably the single hardest thing I've ever done. YES I eat carbs! And yes I do use artificial sweeteners and no I won't stop that. Just watch my sugar very closely.

And second, just yesterday day cardiologist cleared me to never see him again if I don't need to. No more heart doctor visits! Yay me! He super proud of my progress and said I'm doing all the right things. I'M HAPPY!

  7. @@Redsfan19 yes this is a wonderful website when used as intended. You will find many supportive and knowledgeable kind people here. Best to you and stay around! You will need a lot more support in the coming days. This is not an easy journey which is why bariatric support is so needed.

Take care and know this, your surgery date will approach very quickly. Get everything you need now! Do not procrastinate.

  8. @@Puppypaws57 Yes!! I do feel so much better all the time. I mean I have my days where I don't feel too good but for the most part I feel so much better than I did when I would eat sugar. The most sugar I eat now is from a few bites of natural fresh fruit and then it's usually not much in one serving. I feel very healthy!

Sending you prayers for your strength.

ETA: Yes my weight loss is slow but steady. I'm perfectly okay with that. I just notice I an overall better look of health too. And yes I have an obstacle. I live with 2 other people who are very addicted to sugar. There's always stuff around the house but being this far into my count I don't even get tempted, only sometimes and it's usually at big events like birthday parties and everyone is having cake and ice cream and I'm not.

  9. @@Puppypaws57 I broke down and realized if I can just get through that first 30 days then maybe the rest will be easier. It's true, once you get past that 30 days it's quite easy. I don't think about sugar unless everyone else is eating it in front of me, but I remember if I do eat it then my streak will be broken. The streak wins every time. :)

The first week is the worst though. That will be the first test to pass, then the next 3 weeks are tough but doable.

Good luck if you try it! The counting streak has worked for me like nothing else has.

  10. @@Eclectick

Hernias do cause reflux many times. I was on 40mg omeprazole in the am, 20mg Ranitidine before bed, cough meds and Syrup all day, lozenges. It was a 24 hour deal for me.

Thankfully I am 100% now post op. No more medications at all and my reflux is gone. However I did not have a hernia either so that wasn't why I had it.

The Bypass really isn't nearly as worrisome as some seem to think. It saved my life.
