@@Essence46 Anything in moderation. Just learn your triggers. If candy bars leads to other poor choices then candy bars should probably not be on your eating list. Other than that, enjoy it while you're eating it.

@@ArtSmartInNH also try some heating pads in your painful areas. But for the most part walking and releasing are the two best methods.. as well as time.

@@nzlmx6 yes this can be a very common thing. A lot of us don't feel any physical hunger post op but some of us start experiencing hunger pains sooner out. Are you on any kind of PPI or acid reducer? If not, you might want to bring up the hunger feelings with your surgeon. It could be acid and it can feel very similar to hunger pains. Or it could be you're actually hungry. I'm not sure where you are as far as your post op eating plan, so perhaps discuss this issue with your nutritionist as well. Good luck!

@ On this journey its always better to assume that everything your surgeon tells you is mandatory. Never take anything for granted. That said, I congratulate you for taking it so well and getting it done! You will be a good patient.
ETA: The surgeons pre op diet is not meant as means of torture. It is for your health and well being during surgery. It's called the liver shrinking diet and will shrink your liver for a safer surgery.

Everyone's journey's are much different than the next person. I didn't really have a lot of cravings post op. In fact the smell of food literally made me nauseated. But I've had friends tell me the exact opposite, that their cravings came back almost immediately. So what you're experiencing is not uncommon. You are not alone! You're just going to have to stay a bit stronger during this time. Hopefully its not so bad and the feeling will pass quickly. @@crayon67

Hello @@Laurabrown929! Are you keeping with your Protein first rule? Are you making sure that you are mostly filling up with solid Protein and then veggies? Are you working out regularly (At least 30 Mins per day, 5x per week)? Do you do any kind of muscle toning routine? If you need to get back on track, here is a little eating plan you might find useful. Good luck!

@@Truthella Hello and welcome! Don't be afraid to ask any questions you might need to. I have pasted a link you might like. The Bariatric Surgery Do's and Don'ts. My best bit of advice would be is don't procrastinate getting everything prepared for your sugery. That day will get here before you know it!

That's true. So far not so good... lol but with 3x Champs in 5 years I am still just over the moon. We are going to our first game this season in about 3 weeks.

I'm fresh out. It's been one of those kinda weeks... and it's only Wednesday.
The how is not important. It's what you do once you're here. Ancient Chinese secret.
Or voodoo.

@@KF2007 this can all be very frustrating and it can also feel like everything is so slow moving. But once you actually hit your surgery date you will wonder how you were able to fit everything in time flew by so fast. Hang in there. At least you know it's going to happen now. That's the most stressful part.

@@Bandista - I hope your weather can continue to climb. I really HATE winter. Always have. But that's probably because I was born and raised here in California. We like it hot! You sound like a lot of fun with your artsy self. I get along great with those kinds.
@@Alex Brecher - I remember AOL Chat! Those were my crazy party days. BTW your kids and dogs are very adorable.
As for me, in case it's not obvious I am female. I am also 41 years young and married. We have a bunch of furbabies but no human kind. Haha I love to write and I also love to inspire and bring people together. Maybe I should've been a matchmaker?

Metallic Taste
in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Posted
@@canes2015 the metallic taste is a side effect of ketosis due from a low carb diet. It subsides in time. In the mean time you can brush your teeth more often or swish with breath wash.
