  1. That is interesting... most Drs will stick to the Rny idea. He is leaving the choice up to you, so get what you want. I have the Bypass. I love it. You're on the right track though, and since you are diabetic, keep researching the Bypass. It really works.

When do I stop regretting my Gastric Bypass?

Regretting WLS immediately after surgery is very common! Lots won't say it because it can be seen as a weakness or they might feel ashamed. I felt very regretful post op. It lasted maybe 4 months, and of course that was around the time I started feeling normal and my weight loss was incredible. I have a feeling that will be the case for you as well @Velados

    Veterans....#1 thing you miss / don't miss

Hey y'all! Long time no chat... So, I do miss my life pre-op. I won't lie. Things weren't so damn complicated. My every thought wasn't weight loss this, workout that. Self deprivation, wondering if that food over there is going to make me feel sick or nauseated. Am I going to have a blow out on that turkey? LOL okay... enough of that. I liked eating. I am freakin foodie. Of course right? Otherwise I wouldn't have needed WLS. The funny thing is this... those are all the same things I enjoy in my life too. Thank GOD for my WLS tool, because otherwise I'm sure I'd be a showcase on My 600 Lb Life. Dr. Now would have to save me from the trenches of despair and hating myself for allowing myself to get so large and unhealthy. Irene

@CowgirlJane I am doing fine. I have had several surgeries not related to WLS and on top of that had to have my sleeve revised to the Bypass because the GERD was literally killing me. But since then I have been good, except I have to stay more diligent with my vitamins and supplements. As long as I'm doing that, I'm doing good! :) I am a little above my goal but as I always do I am working on me. My next adventure will be TAKING MY FINAL STEPS! To get skin removal. I am hoping that can happen soon. Xx

LilMissDiva Irene besides having Rny this has been the best decision I have ever made with all of the weight lost and my Tummytuck with muscle repair has allowed me to become a gym nut. I workout 6 days a week for 70 minutes a day . I have received so many compliments and encouragement from friends and strangers . Who would have ever thought I could feel so good. Going from a size 32-36 pants to a 8-10 has been unbelievable . I am thinking about a breast lift now but don't know for sure but I do see it in my future in about another year .

  5. Are you losing "Friends" now that you are losing weight? Someone you think of as a "good friend" is someone you thought for all intents and purposes they would be supportive and that they would genuinely be happy for you as you get smaller and healthier. The sad truth is many of us will lose good friends because they might think we have changed so much that it messes with the dynamic of the friendship. They become jealous or uncomfortable with the new us. Has this happened to you?
  6. You pick off your significant others plate instead of buying your own at a restaurant.

    Belly sleepers

I am a stomach sleeper too, since a baby! I had to stay off my stomach for a few weeks because of the pain, but after that I was okay. Every time I needed to move around I had to move slowly because of the soreness. I still sleep on my stomach even after the weight loss. So it's pretty much for me only a few weeks out of my life that I had to alter my sleeping.

Feeling full with only 2-3 bites

@@mh97686 yes it will get easier to eat more and then you'll be wishing you were back here. Enjoy it! Kinda like a little kid who wishes he was a grown up and then when he's grown up he wondered why ever wished that. Same thing. Enjoy your journey every single day.

    Metallic Taste

@@canes2015 the metallic taste is a side effect of ketosis due from a low carb diet. It subsides in time. In the mean time you can brush your teeth more often or swish with breath wash.

    Miniature Candy Bars

@@Essence46 Anything in moderation. Just learn your triggers. If candy bars leads to other poor choices then candy bars should probably not be on your eating list. Other than that, enjoy it while you're eating it.

    Post surgery gas pain!

@@ArtSmartInNH also try some heating pads in your painful areas. But for the most part walking and releasing are the two best methods.. as well as time.
  15. @@nzlmx6 yes this can be a very common thing. A lot of us don't feel any physical hunger post op but some of us start experiencing hunger pains sooner out. Are you on any kind of PPI or acid reducer? If not, you might want to bring up the hunger feelings with your surgeon. It could be acid and it can feel very similar to hunger pains. Or it could be you're actually hungry. I'm not sure where you are as far as your post op eating plan, so perhaps discuss this issue with your nutritionist as well. Good luck!

    Disappointed

@ On this journey its always better to assume that everything your surgeon tells you is mandatory. Never take anything for granted. That said, I congratulate you for taking it so well and getting it done! You will be a good patient. ETA: The surgeons pre op diet is not meant as means of torture. It is for your health and well being during surgery. It's called the liver shrinking diet and will shrink your liver for a safer surgery.

    Cravings

Everyone's journey's are much different than the next person. I didn't really have a lot of cravings post op. In fact the smell of food literally made me nauseated. But I've had friends tell me the exact opposite, that their cravings came back almost immediately. So what you're experiencing is not uncommon. You are not alone! You're just going to have to stay a bit stronger during this time. Hopefully its not so bad and the feeling will pass quickly. @@crayon67
  18. Hello @@Laurabrown929! Are you keeping with your Protein first rule? Are you making sure that you are mostly filling up with solid protein and then veggies?
