  1. Maybe postpone is a better word. Work on what you need to and revisit this later. I wasn't ready the first time (about 5 years ago).
  2. I'm almost 2 weeks out and I lost 17 my 1st week and nothing since. You should pbe able to gradually eat more. I went from being able to do 1 bottle of water a day and now I can do 2 plus a protein shake. I was told once you reincorporate real food (oh I am dying for an egg!!!) the weight loss picks up again. Can I ask your starting weight (mine was 230, cw 213)? Some people have said lower bmi's stall more often.

  4. Day 11: A good pain free day (aside from that large incision site). I have 3 days until I move onto the next phase and I am more than ready. I have never been so excited to eat an egg! No weight loss in the last 3 days. I know it will come when I can get some more food in and move more comfortably to do some exercise.
  5. My doctors told me the opposite. They said to focus on water 1st as dehydration can lead to serious issues. I'm 11 days out and I average 32oz h2o, 8 oz tea, 8 oz protein shake. I had to work up to that. The 1st week I was lucky to get 1 16oz bottle of water in. It will come in time.
  6. I added the parm and some seasonings. I couldn't only fit 2 teaspoons but it was divine!
  7. I got sick pre op too. Doc had me wait 3 weeks. Trust me, you don't want to have a cough post op, ouch!
  8. Haha I lost nothing! I'm down 17#'s in just 10 days post op
  9. I need some ideas of what to add to my cream of rice supper supper tonight. I'm day 10 so my diet is still pretty restricted. I was thinking of adding a sprinkle parmesan cheese but I'm not sure if I can have that????
  10. Day 10, pretty good day. The only pain I have today is incision pain. I had my first experience eating out. It was my company Christmas party. I have to admit it was tough to see all that delish food being passed around. But that is why I did this. I would have eaten and eaten and eaten. I ordered tea and a nice bisque. I had a few spoonfuls and savored them.
  11. Happy to say I slept through the night! Thank you lord! I have no as of pain now. I also was able to get in more water yesterday. I skipped the protein shake and stayed up until midnight sipping. Prior to the other night, I hadn't had gas pains since day 4/5 so it took me by surprise.
  12. Yeah that stuff is awful. Every place is different so I'm not sure what you will get. I hope its not awful.
  13. Day 9: No change on the scale today. Not an issue for me, just keeping you in the loop. I have always weighed myself daily, creature of habit. Anyway I had a pretty bad night/morning. All of a sudden at 3am I was awoken by a really sharp pain in my lower abdomen, followed by diarrhea (sorry to put it so bluntly). This continued for 6 hours and it was excruciating. My surgeon said that "you seem to call us every time something feels painful or unusual to you (well duh! Its my body), some discomfort is to be expected". So I did not call him about it. I have had on and off pain all day and I am convinced it is dehydration. I still only get 1 bottle of water and 1 protein shake in a day. I am striving for more H2O. So tonight I sit and I sip. I cannot handle that kind of pain again :/
  14. I was fairly drugged up when they did it but it wasn't hard. They did it on the 2nd day at the hospital. It was a tiny sip and it wasn't barium it was a clearish soapy substance. Tiny sip then they let me rinse and spit.
  15. That was my biggest fear too. Turns out the actual surgery is the easy part. The recovery is hard. For me anyway. I'm struggling getting in my h20. You will do well I'm sure. As long as you have done your research and found a good surgeon, follow ALL pre op and post op rules you will be OK. I am anxious to see what the next few months brings. Best of luck and keep me posted!
  16. New Year New You! Thats great Lolly! Feel free to message any questions you might have. For me it was hard not knowing what being on the other side was like.
  17. I went back to work today! Not because I had too, I could have has the rest of this week off too. I actually wanted to. I did a half day and it was great (for work anyways). Feeling pretty good. Still not getting In enough fluid but it gets easier everyday.
  18. Sending out prayers to all of you December sleevers yet to go. I am day 8 post of and feeling my much better! I even did a half day of work today. Also.....down 17lbs!!! (Starting weight 230). You can do this! Its hard work but it is achievable.
  19. This is a question for the veterans. I am 8 days out so as you know my life is baby sip, baby sip, baby sip. Will I ever take a normal drink of anything or is it a life of sips?
  20. The biggest struggle for me pre op was the "unknown". So I felt that if I could pass my experience along it might help someone else's anxiety.
  21. Sore this morning but good. Stepped on the scale and had to get off and back on again because I didn't believe the number! I am now 213! (Starting weight 230) That's 17lbs in 8 days! I have not been this weight since 2010!
  22. Hahaha while utterly hilarious I would caution others not to do the same. If you had swelling during the surgery it could cut off the circulation in your legs. They would likely cut them off but it could cause damage before they figured it out.
  23. I kept my surgery 99.9% private. I only told my husband. The rest of the world thinks I had a hiatial hernia repaired (it is also the truth because I have one lol). Recovery is similar. Since I started this journey 5 months ago I told people I was seeing a nutritionist and following a high protein diet (all true) so that when I start to lose weight there will be no question.
  24. As soon as I am consuming more than water lol I love cooking and take pictures of everything I prepare anyway.
