  1. I was nervous as I was being wheeled in. But it was worth it. I am adjusting to my new life style but am very happy about the weight loss. I wish you all the best of luck with your surgeries!
  2. Hello all. Had my surgery Jan 6 and have been alright so far. Started to PMS yesterday and am all of the sudden a lot more hungry than I have been up to this part. This is where it gets hard I guess. I am still being pretty diligent and I stepped on the scale today and am still losing but I hope this hunger subsides soon! Up until now I was full from a few sips of anything.
  3. Well I am not even 2 weeks out yet and 16 pounds down. I have no idea how long it takes to get to goal weight...not close though but very happy with the loss thus far. Of course everyone's journey is going to be different, we all have different surgeons and they will advise us how they see fit. I think from the posts I have read up until this point the masses are just stressing to consult your physician and see they what they think vs. taking someone's word on the internet that its okay to try something more substantial that could potentially cause a problem. No one is trying to attack anyone else. Its more of a safety issue.

    New to forum, advice please!

I told my job I was having an outpatient procedure but am a very private person about my health and would prefer to tell my unit I was going on vacation, Because of HIPPA my supervisor couldn't ask me and I didn't share, No one even questioned me when I returned this week to work. I told my husband, parents and brother and NONE of them were supportive of the surgery. They didn't think I needed it. Ummm 240 pounds and climbing and plenty of failed attempts I'd say I needed it. I told a close friend who is supportive and thank God for her,
  5. I am mid week on my full liquids week and clear liquids was tough but I couldn't handle throwing up after still having issues sitting up from my incisions. Once you get to full liquids when your doc gives you the green light you will feel a lot better. An Atkins shake I could have pounded pre-op I barely can get the 4oz in without filling up. Walking around helps to take your mind off the hunger too. Good luck!

How much did you lose on post-op diets?

I am one week and two days post op and as of this morning have lost 15.5 pounds post op. I'll take it. I have to do full liquids the rest of this week and then mushies for three more weeks before seeing my doc.
  7. The first few days a few sips of liquid would make me feel very full. But the past two days I haven't felt that super full/tightness feeling I guess and have just stopped eating before feeling it because I am not a fan of feeling uncomfortable. I find standing and walking to be helpful and I prefer it to sitting now.
  8. Although this is all still new to me and I am truly not hungry my head tells me different things. The biggest motivation for me is I fear throwing up. Otherwise I would be thinking way more about pizza and chips and tacos. I am having a bit of a hard time dealing with the fact that I wont be eating those things again even though the logical part of me knows they are bad for me. I clearly am not a naturally thin person who can eat in moderation or I wouldn't be here. I guess I am mourning the fat girl but I am also excited about the thin girl that os going to emerge if that makes sense??
  9. The way my doc explained it to me is that they fill you with gas to do the surgery. They attempt to "deflate" you best they can but there is some trapped gas and since there is no where for it to go it settles in your left shoulder. That's all I know haha

    Mushies!

I just saw my doc for one week post op and was told to move onto full liquids (which i knew) and then 3 weeks of mushies. This I wasn't expecting. I suppose I expected one week of mushies maybe two but three threw me for a loop. Here is to coming up with an extensive mushy recipe list.

    Post op Dizziness

That is great info. I suffer from hypothroidism and take synthroid daily. I intend to have my levels checked.
  12. I returned to work today and it was fine. I really wasn't that hungry but had to take gas x strips because I had a little pain in m shoulder. I didn't tell anyone what I was doing so no one besides my superviser asked how I was doing which worked well for me. Today is one week post op (hard to believe) and I am 14 pounds down. Crazy right? I am excited so far so good. Best wishes for your banding tomorrow I am sure you will be so happy once it is all said and done.
  13. Congrats on your band! My appetite returned about 2 days ago but you still become full so quickly so I can only have a little bit of whatever I am trying to eat. I most def need more water than I have been drinking and am really trying but it is hard. And I love water so that isn't the issue. I have been using my kids baby spoons to eat and stop the minute I feel full. I am terrified of vomit so I trying to prevent that mishap.

I just had lapband surgery yesterday

My doctor tried the tylenol with codeine and I told him no go. I actually stayed over one night in the hospital and they gave me one dose. It didn't help. So he prescribed me Diludin (sp?) it worked better. He wrote me a script to go home with and I used them the first few days. The past 2 days i have only taken one pill for bed time because it is still uncomfortable to sleep. I am hoping I wont need any tonight because I return to work on Monday and want to be drug free to drive.

I just had lapband surgery yesterday

I am still on liquids so basically I have been having chicken broth protein in crystal light sugar free jello and the broth from beef barley soup. Yesterday I added sugar free pudding and tolerated it just fine but always listen to what your doctor says.

I just had lapband surgery yesterday

I am 4 days post op and still a little sore. But today felt so much better than the first 2 days. Good luck!
  18. 4 days post op and feel almost normal. I am still a little sore in the abdomen area when get up and get down. Otherwise I feel pretty good. I thought it would hurt putting jeans on and what not but it doesn't. That's good news. So it is harder than I thought to get all the liquids down but I am really trying. If I feel too full I get up and walk around. I keep the gas ex strips with me too and they are helpful. All in all everything is great. I weighed myself today and so far I am down 9 pounds! Woo hoo! Of course it is all Water weight weight from the liquid diet but hey! I will take it I return to work on Monday so I stocked up on soups and different atkins shakes and slim fast shakes that I am looking forward to trying. I have also been scouring the internet for bariatric friendly recipes so I can start to get an idea of what is out there and what I will cook. So far there is a butternut squash and pear soup that is good and I saw a recipe for mashed cauliflower I am looking forward to trying. Best of luck to everyone hope I hear some banding stories soon!

  21. Okay so 2 days post op and I feel pretty good. My doctor found a hiatal hernia while performing the surgery so he fixed that. I am grateful because I imagine this will lessen heartburn and acid reflux substantially. After a few sips of liquid I am FULL! I mean Thanksgiving dinner full and have to get up and walk around. The gas ex strips help a lot. No more pain in my shoulder but still haven't had a BM (sorry TMI) since before surgery. Getting comfortable to sleep is painful though so I am still taking the pain meds for resting time. I intend to return to work on Monday and pray all goes well. It is interesting because last night my hubby and kids had pizza and I looked at it and thought I know that tastes good but I am soooo incredibly full I couldn't even imagine! So it was a lot easier than I thought. I am very happy thus far and know the more I walk and as the weight sheds off I think I will have an easier time being around things that used to rule me. I am looking forward to hearing some post op stories as they come this month. New year new us! Here is to 2014!
  22. Well banding went fantastic! I am in the hospital overnight mainly because I requested it since I have small kids who like to jump and climb on me. I feel so incredibly full though and I realize that is the gas but I will be very happy when that goes away. Otherwise I have been up walking around and feel okay. The incisions hurt but I think it coupled with the gas that is causing discomfort. I am so glad I did this for me and I am looking forward to a wonderful 2014!!
  23. My doctor only required me to do the clear liquid diet today and then 7 days post op. I almost wish he had required it for a week or so pre- op because I am definitely having carb remorse right now and wondering what I am going to cook after the first few weeks for myself and will I be changing what I feed my hubby and kids as well or just eating differently? I don't know yet and it is kind of freaking me out. I am sure I will be fine after banded but am having all these thoughts right now..
  24. Hello November Bandsters I need a little guidance. I am scheduled for surgery Jan 6 woo hoo! And am getting a little nervous. Yesterday I went to GNC and bought the isopure zero carb that has 40 grams of protein, Would this suffice for the clear liquid diet for days 1-7 post op? Can you all tell me specifically what you drank that week during the course of the day so I am not confused. This may sound like a silly question but this is what worries me more than having the surgery! I can sip on crystal light, water, and this protein drink correct? Will that carry me through for the week or should I be sipping on something hot too? Also week 2 when I am to switch to full liquid I understand I can have adtkins shakes or slim fast, muscle milk, etc but what else did you have? Any and all advice and as much detail would be appreciated. Thanks!
