    Pregnant !

My story is similar we had been trying for the past 10 months I only have 40 left to lose was banded in Jan 2014 and found out this week I was prego. Interestingly enough I had an unfill two weeks ago because I was too tight and have already gained 6 pounds! That is a lot and I am freaking out!

    Pizza

I have yet to have the bread on s piece of pizza. I was banded in January. It literally takes me two hours of very small bites and intervals to chew a piece of whole grain toast. Instead I eat the cheese and toppings off the pizza and leave the bread. I think I was about five months out when I did this. Everybody responds differently to things though but the toppings taste just like the pizza minus the processed flour and carbs. Wine I had sooner. I don't drink much but never do I feel guilty when I do. We aren't supposed to stop living just modify our lifestyle to healthier choices!

    Stuck episode

After hearing about first bite syndrome for the first time yesterday I googled it and read what I could about it. I also took the advice of others and did three things this morning. 1. I waited about two hours after waking to eat anything. 2. I drank something hot first to get my system going. 3. I chewed the tiniest pieces until they were mush and put my fork down in between bites to ensure I gave myself time to really chew and slowly swallow. The results were positive two fold. Not only did nothing get stuck, I felt satisfied on less. Lesson learned but I am certain I will need a daily reminder to slow down when I eat!

    Stuck episode

It doesn't matter what I eat, how much or how little, how slow or how fast, there are certain times of the day (which vary day by day) that my food gets stuck. Even after one bite and I know I am too tight to eat then. Keep in mind I don't eat bread, pasta, or rice. I find this frustrating. Does this happen to anybody else? I spoke with my doc about it and he said if I am eating too fast that is why it would happen but after one bite can that be considered eating too fast?
  7. Anyone getting banded this month or has already and wants to share their experience? I go in tomorrow for banding @ 8:30 am! I am excited as well as nervous. Any and all advice is appreciated.
  8. Hey January 2014 bandsters! Hard to believe it has most been a year! How is everyone doing??

    Stuck episode

Also I have hit a plateau but don't want to get a fill because we are trying to have a baby and my doc is aware of this. I have beefed up my exercise significantly and am training 3-5 times a week 45 minutes a day to keep losing but my weight hasn't budged. I am not gaining which is a win but I am not loosing either. Could this have anything to do with my stuck episodes and not getting the food in? Or pbing after the stuck episode?

    Stuck episode

You know it is most likely chicken. I try to eat it often for protein because I am so picky. I don't ear sea food, and red meat I find stays with me too long so I don't eat it more than once or so a week. What should I eat for protein then? I sometimes drink the shakes but I don't want a slider...

    not loosing weight

You know interestingly enough, I did a lot of research before getting the band, went to the support groups, asked my doctor a ton of questions but I honesty don't think anyone did a great job of explaining "bandster hell" and all that is involved until you begin to receive fills. It was only through the kindness if the people on this site and the encouragement I received that I knew I was on the right track. So fear not, your doing wonderful it will take time but you will achieve your goal. Slow and steady wins the race. Eight pounds is great. Just think where you will be once your fills help you with restriction. Best of luck to you! Keep the faith.
  13. Thanks for replying! I had some soup for lunch today but ate the barley sparingly to be safe and so far so good.
  14. Question: does anyone eat barley and if so how does it go down? I haven't tried I am too afraid and I am ten months out and 50 down. I want some beef barley soup but don't want any stuck episodes. Thanks on advance for the info!

    scared its not working

I too am hypothyroid had my left thyroid removed in 2005 and was banded in january 2014 and am down 50 pounds. I am exhausted when I get home so I try to walk 2-3 times a week at work during break. When I do I lose more. I too shy away from bread, pasta, and rice. But I haven't given up sweets entirely. I would be happy with 30 more off. I am not looking to be a size 5 but an 8 would be great! I signed up for this ten week fitness challenge that starts in two weeks. I am excited because it will hold me accountable. Keep pushing through you will be happy when you achieve your goals!

    Pizza

I eat the cheese off of a slice of pizza and give the bread to hubby to eat. It tastes the same. I also eat hot dogs all the time no bun. I just stay away from the bread products but go in for the cheese and meat whenever.
  18. Bacon doesn't agree with me and I love bacon. But it doesn't matter how long I chew it is a hard swallow. Sometimes I chew and spit just to get the flavor. Is that bad?

    Sick Of Compliments And Comments

You must work in private sector. I work for the state government and let me tell you if someone made a shrinking ass comment to me or anyone else in my office kidding or not, they would have been written up immediately for A) sexual harassment and a hostile work environment. Let me tell you, start throwing around catch phrases like that and the comments will seize immediately. Your size and clothing are irrelevant to the integrity of your work. Maybe they are just impressed, but anything that makes you uncomfortable should not be tolerated in the work place.

    Pre-op confused!

Its true that everyone's pre-op instructions are different. While I read many bandsters had liquid diets for a few weeks prior to surgery my doc didn't require any restriction. It is essential to do what your doc tells you and all will be well. I agree with you though, you are making a great decision, I know at least for me I feel that way. Even on my worst day I still feel so much better than I did on my best day forty pounds ago... Best of luck!
  23. Update I am officially down 40 pounds and have hit wonderland! (Just barely but I will take it!) woo hoo!!
  24. I thought I would miss soda more but I don't. I mourned a little before surgery about pasta and rice and bread, but I don't really mind the pasta and rice and I will have small amounts of toasted bread or biscuits periodically and handle them fine. I think the only thing i do miss is drinking with my meal. But I have a trick for that. I really like the Arizona Arnold Palmer frozen. So I put it in freezer at work and take it out at linch time. It takes about an hour to thaw. So it thaws while I settle from lunch and then I am good to go. I only drink one or two tops a day and then ally water intake. I am 40 pounds down and feel pretty good. Looking forward to the next 40!
  25. My band holds 10cc. Last fill (my third fill) he filled it 1cc totaling 7cc. It was much too tight. After vomiting all night and losing 3 pounds in one evening, I called the answering service the next day andy doc's partner called me back and told me to come in. He took out .75cc so now I have 6.25cc in. This happened about 3/12 weeks ago. At first I felt restriction and have even lost 1 more pound, but as of yesterday I don't feel restriction and I am nervous because I can tolerate liquid after eating. This has not been the case this far for me. I believe another .25cc totaling 6.5cc will be my green zone because I know for a fact I cannot go to 7cc. Should I be concerned that I can drink after meals like 20 minutes after instead of having to wait 45 minutes?
