Hi there. Congrats on getting the band. I'm not an expert by far, but recently had this done myself. I was banded on Oct 15th. The first few days I was only supposed to drink Clear liquids...broth and such. I was able to move to full liquids like the Protein shakes a few days after surgery. I slept in my recliner the first 4 or 5 nights. I just couldn't lay flat. I probably had the gas pains for a week or two....however, it got less painful each day. I found that the pre-made shakes were easier for me to drink then the ones than the powders. I'm feeling great now....I've had one fill....lost 14lbs since surgery, for a total of 22 including my pre op diet. Down around 3 inches from my stomach!! I also had my gall bladder removed several years ago and didn't have any gas pains...not much recovery time. I thought this was going to be similar, but found out it was a bit more recovery! Good luck on your journey.

Anyone getting banded in Nov?
kcgal62 replied to swankybangles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on a Tuesday and went back to work at a desk job the following Monday. The only problems I had was sitting straight up. I couldn't slouch because of the incisions. I brought a throw pillow the next day and it was so much better! -

That is awesome! Have you had any fills yet? Exciting and motivating since we are headed toward the holidays. Keep up the good work. -

Congratulations! I haven't been that brave yet. I get my first fill on November 13th. Hope when I do go out, I make good choices of portion size like you did. -
I like the 'On The Go' shakes. I found them at walmart. 180 calories, 4 carbs, 25 G protein. The chocolate ice cream shake is awesome.

Mine is in the middle, about 2 inches below my bra line.

I have the iPhone app. At the bottom there is a MORE tab. From that I can go to MY SURGERY and update my weight. Hope this helps

Swanson has a Chinese hot and sour broth in a carton. It's a bit strong, so when I was on the liquid part of the diet, I mixed it with low sodium beef broth.

i have something similar...the pain is in my left collar bone. I hadn't made the connection of when it flares up, but it has been bothering me right before lunch and tonight is was on my drive home from work. i'm 2 weeks post op. Hope its not going to be a permanent addition!

What kind of work do you do? I have a desk job and was off work for a week.

As you are staying hydrated, instead of plain water or flavored water, try the Special K protein water. An extra 5 grams of protein with your water!
-
Take a small throw pillow to put between you and the seatbelt on the ride home!

Getting enough calories??
kcgal62 replied to ccjll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's about healing right now and not counting calories. I found during this time that I like butternut squash bisque. Also, the tomato soup with basil tastes like the sauce that ravioli is served in. Hope you get your energy back soon! -
Mine is in the center about two inches below my bra line.

Oh Vickie, I wish I could come get you. So sorry to hear you are still in such pain. Where did they place the port?

Congrats to all of the newly banded. I'm ten days post op and feeling pretty good!

Hi. I went back to my desk job six days after surgery. What hurt the most was sitting up straight in the chair because of the incisions. My desk chair isn't very ergonomic and the rest of this week I brought a small pillow to put behind me. Just something to think about.

You'll probably see this a lot...best advice after surgery is walk, walk and more walk. It will help the gas release from your body. I'm 10 days post op and it's only been a few days that I've actually felt hungry. My tummy rumbles, but no desire to start munching. Good luck to you all!

I can't even imagine! A male friend of mine had to have surgery to have one removed.
