How funny! Weve NEVER thought of you as one. My goodness Mary, youve been through the wringer! I had my gall bladder out about 12 years ago - and the pain from the stones is something you NEVER forget. Are you going to have the laproscopic surgery? ((hugs)) Heck, your insurance may "cut you a deal" since your giving them so much business! lol

OK MAD AGAIN!!! different topic
Terri, I too agree with the others. Why does everything always have to be such a fight? More like competition. WHY? Why cant everyone just be HAPPY that we have ALL taken this giant step towards a healthier lifestyle - regardless of RNY or lap-band or somekind of switching of things. When I was checking into WLS my good friend had just had the rny. She encouraged me to do the right thing for ME - not what she had done, or what this person says about this or that, but a decision that I would be happy with 20 years from now. And when I choose the band, she was just as happy - because I had decided to do something for my health regardless of what procedure. I think we should ALL get together and give each other a pat on the back, because weve showed courage that many others will never have (like my mom). Thanks for being here:) We enjoy you as much as you enjoy us! God bless!

First Fill 5/7 3 cc's??
Hi Rhonda! This does seem a little aggressive for a first fill, but everyone is different. This may be a little tight for some, and not tight enough for others. If you find that you are not able to drink Water then you may want to contact your surgeon's office and get an unfill. Good luck!

Were Moving!
OK - so I guess we wont be moving out so fast! We just got a phone call from the people buying our house - they are backing out! What disappointment! We are trying to sell it ourselves, so the "For Sale" sign is already back out. Besides all of this aggravation, my 9 yr old came home from school Friday with a stomach bug... then Saturday night I came down with it. Life, huh?

Happy Mothers Day!!!
awe Kellygirl, what beautiful words! Thanks Terri for this thread! I want to share what Mike and the kids got me for this day... nope, not beakfast in bed, nope, not a "day off" (just finished folding/putting up a load of clothes and waiting for the next to dry). But this morning -I was allowed to sleep late- and the 3 kids came in the bedroom and gave me my gift... a hardback picture book of John Paul II. But my FAVORITE was the hand drawn picture of our family that Anne Marie made. Then they started fighting - which brought me back to reality. Happy Mother day everyone!

Telling or Not
Ive chosen a select few to tell. Being this far down the road, Ive realized that the people that know about my band, tend to "watch" me eat. Another thing is people that I havent seen in a couple of months expect to see me so much smaller... so Ive regretted telling a few, and so happy with not telling some. The one thing my surgeon told me for my initial cosultation is that folks that get the band are able to get away with telling NOONE - he is right!

Usually 4 to 6 weeks, depending on your surgeon.

Staples
Oh yeah! I remember the staples. Like you, mine stayed itchy and red - and irritated the heck out of me. I was supposed to leave them until my 1 week check up... HA! We must have some type of sensitivity to them - because most people never really "notice" them. Dabbing vit. E oil on them may help. Oh - and welcome to Bandland!

Pictures of Jenna and her rantings
Jenna, You get a round of applause for having the courage to show these pics. and in all honesty, I have no idea what my BMI was when I had my band.

Post Op Pain
Hi Trish! Hows the leg pain? Any better yet?
-
banded for three weeks
Everyone's experience in getting a fill is different. For me, Ive had 2 and didnt feel a thing. As for as post fill instructions, each surgeon is a little different. Most require us to have liquids for at least 24 hours, then 24 hours of mushy, back to regular eating on day 3... something like this.

Do fills hurt? What is the process?
Hi Pamela! Welcome to LBT! You will probably get lots on answers on this one, since the process for getting a fill is a little diffrent with each surgeon. Each doctor has his own protocol for this small procedure. You may want to ask your surgeons office (or someone who uses this doctor) this question, this way you will have accurate information. For me, I have recieved 2 fills only. Both times my surgeon accessed my port on the first try. Neither time did I feel it. Its a very small office visit/procedure, probably takes less then 5 minutes once the doctor enters the room. My doctor does not use fluro for fills, nor does he give a anesthetic shot before the fill. Some doctors do, and this would require a little longer time in the office (maybe 30 minutes - 1 hour). After the adjustment, my doctor requires us to sit in the waiting area and drink a little Water to make sure we are not over filled. If everything goes down fine - we are free to leave. This is my experience only! Hope this helps.
