OK MAD AGAIN!!! different topic

Recommended Posts

I also belong to another board on obesityhelp.com, the AZ board!

There was someone there telling about a Dr. Juarez in Phx. She told the Dr. that she was 90% sure she wanted the band and he told her that the band was only for the younger and very active people who wanted to lose only 40-50 lbs. WHAT???

So I told her about our group and how many successful people were here. Then others piped in saying that Bandsters don't lose weight like RNYer's do!

No, we don't but that's a good thing!!! WE DO IT THE HEALTHER WAY!!!

Well, I told them what I thought and that you could lose as much weight as you wanted with the BAND. I don't think I will be alowed back there. But that's OK because I don't want to go back there! I have you all here!

Who need them anyways.

OMG I don't really know why that made me sooo mad, but it did. I quess it is just one of those weeks for me. Yes it is PMS time. frown.gif

I love you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

((((HUGS))))

Terri, I feel your frustration but all I can say to those Bypass people is

I have lost 91 lbs in 13 months, I have no loose saggy skin, I have no rerouting of my intestines, I have no dumping or malabsorption issues. I will never have a stretched out pouch because I can always get my band tightened, I do not have fears of gaining weight back because again I can get a fill. If I have a medical problem or a health issue my band is reversible so I say to all of those people if losing weght faster then us banded people is worth all of those things then more power to them. I'm happy and healthy! Do not let them get to you. They are not worth your energy!

I went to a local weight loss support group too and got the same response by the leader of the group who worked for the local bypass office. She didn't believe I had lost so much with the band in such a short time and just seemed condesending. I never went back either.

Sssh, don't tell my DH that it is for folks who only want to loose 40-50 pounds! He might be tempted to give back 150 just to make them happy!

Terri, I too agree with the others.

Why does everything always have to be such a fight? More like competition. WHY? Why cant everyone just be HAPPY that we have ALL taken this giant step towards a healthier lifestyle - regardless of RNY or lap-band or somekind of switching of things.

When I was checking into WLS my good friend had just had the rny. She encouraged me to do the right thing for ME - not what she had done, or what this person says about this or that, but a decision that I would be happy with 20 years from now. And when I choose the band, she was just as happy - because I had decided to do something for my health regardless of what procedure.

I think we should ALL get together and give each other a pat on the back, because weve showed courage that many others will never have (like my mom).

Thanks for being here:) We enjoy you as much as you enjoy us! God bless!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
