Home sick...

Recommended Posts

I'm going home in less than 2 weeks, and I'm starting to get home sick... I get to go home for the summer, yay! for me. I'll be getting home in time for my son's high school graduation, but I miss his prom.

Of course, once I get home I'll be getting my first fill, 10 weeks out. I feel like I've done really well so far, 25 pounds in 8 weeks isn't bad by half. But it is definately time for a fill, since there are many days I doubt I actually have a band, just a port! :)

The only bad thing about going home is actually a bitter sweet thing. I have a very old dog, his name is Astro, and we got him used 6 years ago. He was 10 when we got him, which is old for a lab, but now he's really old. I know that he won't see the end of the summer.

Sigh

Well, next week I have to finish packing up my apartment for the summer. Ick.

25 pounds is terrific!! Sorry to hear about you dog. We also had a dog for 21 years, it was the only dog all my kids ever knew. Have a fun time at home this summer.

I was a Navy wife... :D Also, my Dad was always stationed in a differenct city from my mom (both parents worked for the airlines), so this is sort of normal for me. But then again, I was raised by wolves ... :)

Some days I make a game out of it, pretenting that they are in the next room while I instant message them. Instead of yelling from one end of the house to the other we will IM each other.

Paula, if my Spudboy was little like yours I couldn't have done it. He would be here with me, no question. But he's a young man now, so it is a little easier.

Time will fly and those 2 weeks will fly by.

I'm glad you're headed home. How sad about old Astro, though. I'm sure he's had a wonderful, spoiled life, but it's hard on us to watch our old friends falter. Many of us have been through painful doggy goodbyes, so if/when the time comes, we'll be here for you. Meanwhile, give that pup a Porterhouse! (My mother's last Siberian Husky almost made it to his 16th birthday -- as rare for that breed as for Labs -- in part because he was eating Thai food and BBQ for the last few years of his life. After he hit 12, she was afraid he'd die at any minute, so she gave him whatever she was having for dinner.)

I have to laugh Zoe, because Astro's new favorite food is Thai! I not sure what makes him happier... he knows when I come home he gets Thai food... not sure which he looks forward to more!

He loves this one tempura dish we get, I don't like eggplant or greenbeens, but you should see my dog gobble up the veggies!

My old Labrador loved Mexican food, even plain tortillas. She also had a thing for margaritas and Corona beer! Try chicken & peanut sauce from your favorite Thai place; all dogs seem to love it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
