Odd Shoulder Pain
Trish, Its so good to see you around! Weve missed you, girl! Regarding your shoulder pain, this IS odd. Do you think it could have something to do with the position you are seated in while you are eating? Maybe eat standing and see if it helps... ??? (I hope no one is laughing at me, cause Im being very serious here!) How long has this been going on?

Pain in the Port
Jess, Ive had aches around my port area that lasted for a day or two. Mild pain. Nothing sharp or unbearable, but definately uncomfortable. I just figured that it was from lifting something a little heavier then Im used to - or doing something that Im not used to doing. Has the pain eased up any in the course of today?

Thank You For Your Support Paula
johnnyreno, Your thread was NOT deleted, only closed for discussion. So it is still able to be read and viewed by others. I apoligize for you taking offense in my request. I do not know you or the others mentioned in the email, so please do not take it personal. Just as Nana mentioned earlier, it seemed more like spamming then a member in need of support. I understand that you were very hurt by this clinic, and Im certain that I wouldve been as well if it wouldve happened to me. But I wouldve chosen to vent my anger a little differently, both for legal and ethical reasons. God bless~

Missing Bandsters
Kellymoos, Ive certainly missed you! We went to Beaumont today to do some shopping, since here in LC we have a very limited selection of stores that are open - and we're not gonna talk about a 24/7 Walmart! Whats that? Anyone seen Trish lately? I havent. Hope everyone is ok!

Urgh the halloween candy got me today
3 peppermint patties??? only three??? I remember my surgeon telling me something that I will never forget! He said, "the band was designed for the individual to continue eating a food selection of what they would normally eat - just a smaller quantity." Just think, if it werent for the band, you probably wouldve eaten the entire bag! (I wouldve)

Anyone else experience this???
I started having reflux symptoms about 3 weeks after my last fill. The only thing that has worked is not eating 3 hours prior to bedtime. Also, you may want to flush your pouch out about 1 1/2 hours before bed. This "washes" the pouch so no food particles remain, thus causing reflux. Reflux is pure hell! Definately -DO NOT- by NO means, get your next fill. Also, I would call my surgeon so he (your chart) has this on your record... just better to be safe then sorry!

Funny cartoon

cough and cold
Eileen, please be CAREFUL! I think it was Muffinbirdie that had a slipped band from excessive, forceful coughing. So it can happen. A bottle of robitussin (sp?) is alot cheaper then a replaced band!

Dr. Spivak in Houston?
Out of the many members here that have used Dr Spivak, Ive never heard/read anything negative about him. NEVER. Ever. Ive heard so many positive things about him that Ive even recommened him to others. He's a good one!

another andres letter i received after that WOW
Could the moderators please lock this thread? While this email may be valid, there is certainly no way we can prove it. LBT is a support board for weightloss, NOT a bashing forum. Thank you.

Long time reader-first time poster
Hi Diane, WoW! Nov 28th is fast approaching! To answer your questions, not everyone is required to follow a pe-surgery diet. Most of the time, surgeons require patients that weight above 250 pounds to follow a specific diet. And about the diet cokes... if you feel the need to stop this consumption now, then do so. You certainly will not be able to do this after surgery - so enjoy them while you can! Good luck!

Hurricane Wilma
My heart goes to you. But, in time, things will get better. We had Huricane Rita to deal with. The hardest part for me to adjust to was the stores closing early (and some are still not open - JCPenny, Kato, Dollar tree, Circuit City, Pet Smart) makes me wonder what my grands did before there was electricity. hmmm, may be the reason they all had 15 kids!

Lap-band Blues
Rubina, Oh goodness, what a horrible response the nurse gave you! Certainly didnt make you feel better. YES! weight gain is commen before the first fill. Basically just trying to maintain the original weight loss is a struggle during this time. Ive heard of patients asking the surgeon (or your pcp) for diet pills. Another thing that I did, was go for a walk! (if you can) Everytime the eating urge was stong, Id take the kids and we'd go for a stroll. Also, s/f popsicles seemed to aid and sooth me at this time. I think I ate a 1/2 a box a day, then wash 'em down with a big glass of Water. Good luck - this is really the hardest part of it all. I promise!

So close, yet so far....
Hi Darcey, You are such a trooper! I certainly wouldnt worry about my weight - just like Michelle said, if we could lose weight successfully, wewouldnt need the band. Heck, youre gonna lose major weight the first month you have it - so enjoy this time while you can. psst - before Jan 19th, eat a B I G juicy hamburger for me, please?

cough and cold
Flower, a couple of months ago I remember reading about someone that coughed ALOT (from allergies maybe?) and she blamed that for a slipped band. Im like you, a little scared and cautious when it comes to "coughing spells". just never know.

I'm stuck--and h-u-n-g-r-y!
Collen, just wondering ~ do you have any restriction? Do you feel your food sitting in you pouch for a small period of time? I may give it another week or two and see if I gain more restriction (sometimes we gain more restriction 4 - 6 weeks after a fill) before contacting my surgeon with concern. You may have developed a small leak and lost some of your fill/fluid thus the reason you are "starving"!

LBT Member (Francesca) Needs support!
((hugs)) to you Francesca. And I ditto everything Leatha said - we are so SO grateful this was "caught" now! Also, I want to say that as a LBT member for over a year, that this is the 3rd case of erosion that I remember reading about among our hundreds of regular members (even thousands). Im saying this so the newbies will know that this is VERY uncommen in bandsters! VERY! A slipped band is more commen, and yet - even that isnt heard of very often.
