  1. Hi and WELCOME! The lapband is quite unique in dealing with acid reflux! For those that have a history of reflux , they've found that the lapband seems to 'cure' it. For those that have never had reflux issues, sometimes, the lapband causes it! weird! Good luck in your journey!
  2. Congrat's on your band date!!! It's gonna be here before you know it!
  3. Hey Jason, chances are - nothing has happened! Some people vomit after surgery, due to the anesethesia or pain meds. Very sedom is there any problems that occur from this. If liquids are going down smooth with no pain or stuck feeling, then you're fine! Careful with that gum, next time!

    Joke

    Only you, TOM. Only YOU!
  5. I definatley think its reflux. Sounds like something irritated your esophagus, which caused swelling, which could be the underlying culprit of these reflux issues. Have you tried switching to liquids for a couple of days and see if this helped? Of coarse, I need to reinstill the words, "Call your surgeon and get his opinion!" he may want you to take some acid reducering meds like otc prilosec or something of this nature! Could be very easy and simple to cure, with the right treatment/meds!

Cancer is back...No lapband for me

Donna, Know the saying, God will never give you more then you can handle....???? Sometimes these little scares, aka road bumps, arent necessarily for us! Just kep that thought in your mind. I pray that God continues to bless you and your family on this journey we call life.
  7. So.. You wanna get your ennerds checked out... does your doctor do a barium swallow WITH your current level of fill?? or does he require you to get an unfill for this small test?
  8. Thanks for responding Jack! So, you've had a barium swallow with a fill AND without one? My surgeons office said they require their patients to have an unfill before a barium swallow.... ???? said that the barium wouldnt go through the stoma with a fill!

    Im Still around

Hi Trish! Remember me? I was just thinking about you and decided to check your last log-in date. Sure do miss ya... thanks for checking in. (((BIG HUGS)))
  13. Barbara, could you please put surgicenter's info in your sig-line(or profile?). I've tried 'finding' YOU to find the info - and boy, what an aggravating situation! I was banded by Spiegel back in July of 04. I liked HIM - due to my 'consultation' - which was the one and only time I met and talked with him. Didnt put my eyes on him till the day AFTER my surgery. ((gee, hope he was the one who placed my band .)) His office staff is **HELLISH**... always has been! Looks like things havent changed. The day after my surgery, when he came into my room to discharge me, I unloaded on him about his horrific office staff. he looked shocked. :omg: Anyway, if you are looking for experience, then he's the man! He's #1 for expereince. But... His office staff doesnt do a cotton-pickin-thing, so YOU will be the one to get your insurance moving. If you are looking for better after-care, then keep looking. By the way, Im having some slight band-related issues. First time in my near 3 years of banded life. I called his office yesterday and talked to a *obviously* unexperienced office worker -who claims to be banded. duhhhhh..... I think I'll get better answers/results from my 6yr old.

    Weird Neck Feelings

"Spams" is a very accurate word to use here, thanks Jack! At the base of my neck, it even feels like a light choking sensation...... and these symptoms have been worst in the evening then morning. Wheet's - most meats come back up. Only very slow and teeny tiny bites will stay down. Yes, I know Im tight. Distance in band doc, and kids, and this or that have been the reason for not going to see the doc... one day leads into another and before you know it - its a year and a half later!

    Night Cough

gosh, 2 years later and you just NOW develope a night cough. Unless you've had recent adjustments, I doubt this is band related. Allergies maybe? How long has this been going on?

    Rosacea

Dealing with one problem at a time... Last month I went to the Dermatologist for pail red blotchy rough spots on my cheeks (not really on my nose, just cheeks). And Rosacea is what she diagnosed me with (**Ive been using 1% hydrocortisone for the past 10 years. Ive just NOW decided it was time to get proper treatment for this problem** i know, i know... :eekB: ) Anyway, the doc gave me a regimen of different creams and moisterizers to try (both otc and scripts). With the instructions of, "some thing work for some, and other things work for others. We just need to find the right treatment for YOU." So that left me feeling a little nervous. So Ive started using all of this new stuff. But the same thing is happening that has occured in the past when I tried to stop the hydrocortisone... my skin gets flakey looking and itches! I look like a shedding lizard when this happens. PLUS I have mulit-colored skin tone. All of this together is NOT pretty. I really dont think Rosacea is the correct diagnosis. Any of you have this? What did your skin look like before treatment? And, what is your treatments?

Unfill NOT working out this time

Goodness, you have responses from the BEST of the best. Im very nervous posting this, so please be kind to the 'slow' one in the group... BUT.. out of my own experiences (cause I LOVE spicey foods)... you were fine till the JALAPENO chips caused a reaction. My theory is that the spicey caused pouched swelling which resulted in stoma swelling which caused very little food to pass through the stoma... which equals reflux (cause its usually food from the pouch that we reflux-for the newbies reading this) . I dont think this was the FILL levels fault! Once you noticed a 'flare up', did you try immediately switching to liquids to help unswell things? you know, kinda 'baby' that GI tract. Good luck with the new fill.
  19. My husband grew up as a S. Baptist. About 4 years ago his mom called to ask if their church's Music Minister had ever touched him (my DH) on private parts... Seems this BAPTIST, MARRIED (with Children) Music Minister had recently been charged with over 15 counts of child molestation (on boys only) that happened over a 15 year span.... ..wonder why we didnt read about this in the New York Times?? :kiss anyway... :focus:
  20. Phew! Goodness, Id say you ARE lucky to be here. The heck with the band.. you are 95 pounds lighter now. Thats a reason to smile. Hang in there - and PLEASE keep us posted on your outcome!

    please read about my gastroparesis!!!

Hi Heidi, I am so sorry that you have experienced this. And Im scared as well to think of the long term affects that this band will have on my system. Like you, I have young kids -which is the biggest reason WHY I got the band! Hopfully it will extend my life - not shorten it. Your closing statement is something I want to comment on.. PLEASE be careful, the band I know is reversable.....the condition is not!!!! How true! God bless you and thanks for coming by and sharing.

    gastric band after gastric bypass

Welcome to LBT! Every now and then we'll have someone pop in, announcing they've had BOTH surgeries. Not a commen occurance though. Being SO restricted that only liquid goes through is NOT a way of life.. and usually we gain everything lost - once restriction 'loosens' up. So thats not an answer. But.. IF you are able to eat a sandwich, then you may not be restricted enough.. ?? Being very tight in the AM is commen. Because of this, most of us start our day with liquids... then as the day progresses, our restriction is less and we are able to eat solids. (Im just commenting on things you said in your OP) From the foods you listed, I wouldnt say that food is your problem. Looks like the band is doing its job by reducing your food/calorie intake. But -10 pounds since May is discouraging. With that in mind, have you thought about the possiblity of having some type of Thyroid disorder.. maybe seeing that its a medical reason for lack of weightloss?
