Thanks everyone. Once again, you've calmed my fears and given my great information. I hadn't been told about the Protein first rule, but that makes a lot of sense. I just keep hearing "the weight will just fall off" and I keep expecting that, but obviously those people don't know what they're talking about.

Hi! Look up Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) online. There are many youtube videos showing you how to get rid of this. I figured out that was what was bothering me. (see my response #5). The videos will show you some simple movements/positions to move the crystals in your inner ear back into place. If that is what you are experiencing you should feel immediate improvement. I was 100% dizzy-free within 24 hrs. Good luck!

I'm exactly with U! I had my lapband 2+ weeks ago - Oct 23rd and I'm barely down 10lbs w little to no restriction. My incision hurts, I feel like I have foreign object in my body & eating ZERO sugar - I'm staying focused but I get down looking at my big budda gut
    We're in it together.

I had my surgery about the same time and my glue is also peeling. I've been clipping the edges off (very carefully of course), because I'm paranoid of it catching on something and ripping off. Seems to be working out well.

Yep, definitely sounds like vertigo! You must have done the Epley Maneuver. I used to have to do that occasionally too. Then I'd try to stay upright (sleep in a recliner) for about 24 hours afterwards to give those crystals time to settle down again. I feel for you, sweetie - there is NOTHING worse than vertigo! It is the scariest thing to lay on a bed and feel like the whole world is spinning and you're going to fall off! SO glad you found some relief!

I guess I didn't know there was a difference. It was definitely vertigo. If I closed my eyes, it felt like the whole room flipped upside down around me. Very scary feeling. I did the exercises I found on youtube, and it I am about 98% better. I think now what I am feeling is mild dizziness from my pain meds. Feels so good to feel like I'm on solid ground again!

Are you having vertigo or dizziness? They are actually two different things. I had BPPV for years following a car accident, so I learned the hard way all about it. Vertigo is when everything around you seems to be moving or spinning, but it isn't really. Like if you were laying on the bed and rolled over and the whole room felt like it was spinning around you. Dizziness is when you stand up and get light-headed and feel for a moment like you could maybe pass out. It sounds like you're having dizziness. That could be caused from low blood pressure, especially if it only happens when you stand from a sitting position, or it could be pain meds, if you're still taking them, or even some antidepressants will cause that. It took us months several years ago to figure out the my mom's antidepressant was doing that to her. She actually did pass out a couple of times! I would ask your doctor again about it. There has to be a reason for it. Good luck!

My post-op dizziness was due to my BP med being too strong with my pre-op weight loss. We cut it in half, and the dizziness was dramatically reduced, but not gone. Two weeks later we cut it out completely and no more dizziness!!

Excellent post kBrown. Often I find that the person that is the worst critic and makes the nastiest comments about my weight is myself! There is no escaping myself, but I have learned over the years not to take myself so seriously, and to not beat myself up.
I am who I am, take it or leave it. When I start thinking negative about myself or think that others might judge me, I take a step back and ask myself what is the worst they could say...? You have already said it to yourself more then once...so get on with it girl get up and get out there and be happy.
Life is too short to do anything else, so I get up get ready give the critic a smirk in the mirror and stride on out the door. There is life to be lived, and I'm too big to fit under a rock so I might as well get out there and soak up some sun! My Vitamin D is too low

I never really had too much concern over that. When you're overweight, you live on a daily basis with others' judgment. I'm always amazed by the fact that I could be at the gas station buying a donut, and the lady next to me looks me up and down like "do you really need that?" while asking for her pack of Camels! Really?? The way I see it, we all have our vices. Some of ours are just more visible to the public. At least mine only hurts me - hers could actually kill me. Bottom line. We are who we are - we all have people in our lives who love us big, small or in between. God made us perfectly and we have value in this world. You rock!

Just had my surgery yesterday. Just wondering how long the pain will last? I'm hoping to go back to work on Monday, but if I still feel like this, there's no way. What have been your experiences?

Thanks everyone! This really helps my decision and calms my fears. I keep reading that you have to eat healthy and completely change your lifestyle and I feel like - if I could have done that, I wouldn't need the surgery in the first place, right? Anyway, thanks again. I'm glad to know I won't have to eat like a rabbit to be successful. XD
