  1. I'm with dmh102 - I've got my toes crossed for you too!

My surgery is scheduled for Friday...starting to get a little jittery but not much. I know this is the right decision to get me healthier than I am now.

Getting super nervous as well... I did all my pre-op last Friday, liquids for the last two weeks... reading my lap band book again and going over my diet for the next few months.... Good luck to all! :-) :-)

  2. Sorry it took me so long to reply, but I have been catching up on my sleep and taking this rare opportunity to veg out. My doctor is DR Krish out of Zephyr Hills. day 3 post op and I have no pain other than my stitches. No gas pains (thank god). I haven't lost any weight yet but I am sure that's to come. Have a good day

I''m glad you are doing well. Actually your doctor is affiliated with my Dr. Diciccio thats awesome. Wishing you the best recovery.

  3. Well I am banded. I got it put in yesterday at 730 a.m. and slept till 7am this morning. Feeling pretty good although it does feel like I just did 2.75 million situps. No gas pains yet and I hope they stay away. I hope for my sake that this is as bad as it gets so I can have a good 2 week vacation from work.

Anyone else on here from the Spring /Hill FL area?

Hi, I'm from Valrico, fl..(Brandon area) how are you feeling? May I ask who was your surgeon? I wish you much success and a speedy recovery...

  4. One of my best friends and I decided to embark on the WLS journey together. We both kept it very private and really only talked to each other about it.

I had lap band on May 9, 2013, she had gastric bypass on July 2, 2013.

I am absolutely heartbroken to say that she passed away this week as a result of the surgery (just over 2 months after the surgery)

I'm lost. I've devastated. I'm so sad for her husband and two young children.

This doesn't change the statistics. We all know the dangers of WLS. It just sucks that it was SO close to home.

My sincere condolences to you and your friends entire family. May God give you strength, peace and serenity during these difficult times. Blessings!

  5. I did the Protein drinks to get at least 60 gms per day and I never got hungry. Bored but not hungry. I had my surgery on Friday and went back to work on Monday. I'm home health nurse and that meant alot of bending and getting in and out of my car. I wouldn't do it again. I think if I had taken Monday and Tuesday off I would have been better off. I felt like myself by Wednesday.

Thanks makes sense...I think I am going to stay off until Tuesday, see how I feel that day. I think I will be fine.

  6. Hi Cingee. No, you don't feel the band, no you don't feel tightness, and no, you don't feel different. It's not until you start to eat solids and realize once you get in the green zone that a small amount of food goes a long way. I am still amazed at how much less food I eat since being banded and that I am no longer starving, and can feel satisfied almost all the time.

I had a treat tonight. I went to a Ramen noodle restaurant for dinner and had three gyoza and a small bowl of Soup. There's alot of sodium in all that stuff so I eat it very seldom but when I do want something like that, I go for it. Anyway, it's now six hours after that meal and I'm still fine. No hunger at all. Before banding, I'd have had a big old bowl of soup, and at least twice the amount of gyoza. And maybe dessert or another appetizer for sure. I'm not sure what the calorie count was but I'd say it was a fraction of what the calorie count would have been pre banded.

Thanks for replying. I am real nervous and excited. I truly appreciate the information provided, I was just super curious. How long were you out of work? I work in an office setting and they told me that I could go back to work on Monday...But I took monday & Tuesday off..so a total of 5 days including surgery day, weekend plus Monday & Tuesday....I'm wonderingif that enough time...

  7. I was banded 2 days ago and granted I'm supposed to be on clear liquids only with the surgery and small pouch and all but I feel like I'm still hungry. Maybe its all mental but what have any of you had to eat/drink that you have found filling in the 1st few weeks post surgery?

Congratulations on getting banded...hope your situation gets better. It must be real hard, stay strongand drinl your liquids... I'm doing the pre-op diet and I kind of know what you feel those hunger pains are something else. ? Do you feel the band? do you feel tightness? do you feel different? Just curious, cuz my surgery is on 9/27 Good luck and keep us posted.

  8. Hello everyone! I was just banded yesterday 09/13/13! Im so happy and excited about my new future. I must say that this website has been a god sent for me because i went into surgery knowing what to expect due to everyone's previous posts! I have to admit that I was very very scared because id never been under before. They did have a problem getting my iv in, but after that everything was ok. After the surgery, I was on a cpap machine because i have severe sleep apnea which i found out the night before my surgery at my sleep study. Yes I said the night before! lol My surgeon ordered it at the last minute. At first i was angry but im glad that i did it. The shoulder and chest pain were pretty bad at first because of the hernia repair and the gas x and walking have been a great help as well. I did have horrible leg cramps afterwards but the nurse gave me a muscle relaxer via iv which worked immediately thank god!!Im now ready to see what the future holds!

Congratulations on your surgery...how are you feeling today?

  9. I am scheduled for surgery today - Friday the 13th (lol). I was previously scheduled for surgery yesterday but it had to be cancelled because of an emergency with my surgeon. So - I'm nervous but I'm looking forward to my new life!

    Things I'm looking forward to:

    1. Being able to sit on the floor & get up gracefully (lol).

    2. Looking in the mirror and not seeing that second chin.

    3. Feeling full.

    4. Being able to bend over to buckle a sexy shoe/sandle.

    5. Having less pain from carrying this weight around.

    6. Not being the most overweight girl at my office.

    7. Being

    7. But the best things of all - comments from everyone ! "You look great" "look at you - you've lost so much weight" and from my husband: "you're hot" (let me just say here - my husband and I have a great relationship and we are very close - he's my biggest inspiration and he doesn't say anything about my weight at all. But I know that he has to notice it.)

I'm doing this to look better & feel better & I'm taking charge of my health right now & putting myself first for once! So- I will post afterwards to let you all know how I'm doing. For me - since I've been on this forum I read the posts from everyone and how they have done after surgery and the days after that to get an idea about how it might be for me. Telling your story (no matter what the progress is or what stage you are in) helps someone else! You all have helped me through this and I read your posts for information and a little guidance - so I'm thanking all of you who've read what I have to say and have commented or just liked them!

I'm going to get my lapband today! Going to get my lapband today! I'm going to get my lapband today! Yea!!!!!!!!!

So Super excited for you. Please let us know how you are doing? Much success to you on this journey. :)
