    Dear veterans...... Need help..... :)

I can DEFINITELY relate to this. I got so depressed when I was dealing with my parents failing health/deaths and a very stressful job! I ATE!! Then I got my lapband and lost 60 lbs. but I need to lose so much more! It is a struggle, but it is so wonderful to be able to do more things with family and friends! I struggle every day!! If you don't do it for yourself, do it for your family and friends. You may not always feel it, but they need you. Find a person/ group that will hold you accountable, get a fitbit, go to a support group, read your Bible, and pray. You are not alone!!
  3. I have never admitted that to anyone. I was banded on Aug 2013 and lost 50 lbs and have lost no more!

    Sliming

I was banded in Aug. 2013. I am finally in my green zone, I think. I am still sliming sometimes. I was just wondering if this could be caused by drinking too soon after eating. Any thoughts?

    I Need Prayers

I am fifty-four, single, and was banded in August 2013. I have finally maybe gotten to my green zone. I am a retired third grade teacher. I never dreamed I would have to retire so soon. I didn't want to stop at thirty years, but I had to because of my mental and physical health. I had gained so much weight (307 lbs.) and my job was so stressful even though my students were awesome. I was also dealing with precious parents who were in their late eighties. One was healthy and taking care of the unhealthy one with Alzheimer's . I was so depressed. I would not let anyone in my house because it was so embarrassing. I just didn't have the energy to do anything. I was diagnosed with an inactive thyroid, vitamin D and B deficiency, sleep apnea, etc. I had my lap band done, but I had to pay for it out of pocket which has led to money problems. I have only lost about fifty pounds. It has been hard to exercise because of knee problems. I have happily had two knee surgeries and am improving every day. I am doing therapy and riding my recumbent bike. I still feel like I overeat at times and don't follow the rules as strictly as I should. I am a Christian and I definitely believe in prayer. I also need encouragement from people who TRULY understand. Thank you so much!!

    I can't exercise!

I just wanted to say I used this excuse for a long time. I have had two total knee replacements in the past six months. Therapy has taught me, I can exercise!! If I do my leg exercises and add some arm ones, o am making progress. I am also riding my cheap portable bike from WalMart! WooHoo!!

    A new attitude

I love it when people are honest. I know I have needed help, but I felt so frustrated at times. It seemed like EVERYONE BUT me was losing lots of weight and making miraculous progress. It is very encouraging to see you doing so well after a period of discouragement. Keep up your healthy choices!!
  10. I chose lapband because my doctor suggested it and it was less invasive with impressive weight loss. Also; because I had to pay out of pocket, it was less expensive. I do not regret it!!

    Accountability Group

HealthyNewMe, I will not ever feel guilty again for failing to be "perfect" and doing all the wrong things. I was single, working a full-time stressful job (teaching precious 3rd graders), and dealing with unhealthy but determined elderly parents in their late eighties. I was overwhelmed and depressed. I am now doing much better with God's help. I so admire people with children and elderly parents who are also trying to take care of themselves. You are doing great! Remember to take care of yourself and forgive yourself when you don't get it all done!

    So frustrated!

Am I the only one who isn't losing weight? I haven't lost in almost a year! I lost about twenty-five before the surgery and about fifteen after. I have been out a year August 27. I had knee surgery on July 2014 and will have my second knee done on October 29th! I hopefully will be able to finally exercise now! I am using my portable bike now and doing therapy which has helped. Thanks for your feedback!!

    Just curious.

You will find through experience there are de things not good for you personally! I have found that peanut butter, shrimp, wheat bread, and sometimes pasta and rice are not good for me. You will learn! Be careful and chew!!

    Peanut butter

Has anyone had trouble with it going down? I am out 6 months!

    Stuck pill

I usually have no problems with swilling pills, but today I swallowed several together and one got stuck. It felt like it was right below my throat and back near my neck!!! The stuck feeling has lasted all day! I took the pill at about 7:30 this morning. I have drunk liquids and eaten solids with no trouble but I still have a chocking feeling at times! Any suggestions?

    Antacids

Can we use them? When do you feel the need to use them? Do they help we you are stuck?
  22. slkesler

    Peanut butter

What do people mean it is a "trigger food"? Is it that they have trouble getting it down without sticking?
