Maybe now insurances will have to "treat" obesity with dignity and action and not be dismissive. This is great progress.

I just called and they told me to call back tomorrow. I talked to a super nice lady.
Not even five minutes later she called me back!
I'm APPROVED! I started crying. Wow.

This help alot... thanks Ladies, i think she might be jealous a lil... but i don't know. i am very open about my process and she is the first person who freaked me out. I can see why people don't want to tell other about the surgery now.

I was sleeved on May 8 and only down 26lbs. I'm nauseated everyday and yesterday was vomiting everything I attempted to eat or drink. Prior to the surgery I was borderline vegaterian only eating poultry and fish. Since the surgery I can't take either one and have not been getting in the recommended amount of protien. The thought of some foods make me gag. I've wasted so much money on Protein shakes and powders it ridiculous. eggs don't even agree with me.
I go in tomorrow for my 2nd post op visit and hoping they have some advise for me. From what I'm hearing the more Protein you get the more weight you will lose, is that true?

When I was in the hospital, the nurse told me about a patient who decided to eat Pasta 2 weeks post surgery. The person came into the emergency room with severe abdominal pain and they did everything possible but the patient passed away. They said that his stomach was full of pasta and had caused a leak that couldn't be repaired. The kicker - he was a nurse and should have known better. The story scared me to death and really emphasized the importance of following my surgeon's food plan.

I was speaking with my aunt who is a nurse. She told me to stick my tongue on a tiny bit ginger powder to take away the nausea. I tried it and the urge to vomit disappeared. I hope this helps.

The worst thing I did was lick the seasoning off of some wheat thins during week 2. But I must say, those wheat thins were delicious. My sweet lab mix was happy to eat the evidence after I licked them.

Sleeve Goddess reacted to HatheryOnHerWay in the worst thing about the sleeve so far...
I had my VSG done on 5/22, and so far the worst thing about my recovery has been the disappointment of eating. When I start to get hungry, I go back to my old habit of mentally making a list of all the things that sound delicious and crossing them off one by one until I come up with the one food I absolutely must have. Every time, without fail, I will gleefully eat that food and end up disappointed. My tummy starts up it's gurgling symphony and usually I feel a little sick or bloated. I think to myself, "Hmm, well that sort of sucked."
The good thing about this is that hopefully it'll break my habit of looking forward to eating like it's some sort of treat or chance to indulge. Now I need to learn to see eating as a way to fuel my body with the most efficient food that won't make me feel sick. I'm sure someday eating will be somewhat more enjoyable, but for now...it's a generally unpleasant task that just has to be done.

I've never been one to swallow but this morning while performing oral on my husband I was gagging and extremely nauseous. I couldn't help thinking how embarrassed I would be if I vomitted on him.

Sleeve Goddess reacted to notmeanymore in What can't you eat, that you used to be able to.
For me its more of what I CHOOSE not to eat because so far Ive been able to tolerate everything Ive tried. I find that I dont crave sweets nearly as much and if I do, a big chocolate covered strawberry does the trick. I dont do fast food unless its an emergency and even then I make sure to choose a non-breaded whatever with the most Protein. When I started seeing the numbers on teh scale go down and my clothes getting bigger and the compliments coming, I did not want to do anything to sabotage that by eating fast food or falling into old habits. This coming from a girl that was a closet eater. Id have 2 big macs at lunch in my car by myself where no one could see me or even stop at McD's for 2 double cheeseburgers on the way home before dinner. Those days are LONG gone! Size 10 pants, medium (almost in a small) yoga pants and being fit/healthy have trumped any crap-ass food I could shove down my throat.

If you are on Facebook there is a collection of groups for plus-size clothing resale. It is called FatToo. Here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/276863985732449/
It is a closed group which means you have to ask to be a member and none of your friends can see your activity on there. Once on there I recommend checking out the "about" section because there are certain rules for buying and selling and also a host of other related groups. ForFatSake is sizes 14-20, FatToo (link above) is 20-26 but tends to be a bit of everything, FatTooGrand is 28 and up. There are also accessory and lingerie groups. I was a member for a while before I became active because I was too lazy to figure out how to do it BUT, let me tell you, it has been awesome!!! It is very easy! And I've made over $1,000 in a month!!! I've spent a lot of it too buying clothes from other women in the groups. I have found tons of awesome used clothes for great prices that I wear all the time. It's a great community. I have several regular "customers" because I had such a large wardrobe I'm still clearing things out. I had been meaning to post this in here for a while. I highly recommend checking out these groups! Apparently there are others on FB but none as active. If you have any questions about buying or selling on there, feel free to ask!

My surgeon spoke with BCBS and specifically the official that denied my surgery because my stupid PCP completely screwed up my letter. After Dr. Le spoke with them, they told Dr Le what to change on my paperwork and told them to send it to the original reviewer directly. He said that there will be an approval forthcoming. Yeah (I hope)
