Is there any point that I will be able to take a normal sip of things after surgery?

This was great info! Thank you so much.

I had been thinking about it for years until I made the call. I had even called insurance to see if I had options. One day I woke up and made the call, haven't looked back since. It will be exactly 1 month from calling to having my surgery done. Excited but nervous!

Kelfir liquid yogurt is yummy!! Give it a try - it's been easy on my tummy.I love drinkable yogurt!

Liquid Tylenol' date=' chewable Gas-x (works great for getting gas bubbles to come out. chicken broth, crystal light, Protein shakes. My NUT allowed yogurt the first week, so plain low sugar yogurt, sugar free popcicles, sugar free fudgecicles, sugar free Jello and pudding. sugar free hard candies (they are nice to suck on when you want to taste something).[/s']Hard candy!!! That sounds like a great idea for any after taste I may incur. I would love to be able to have yogurt as well. Thanks!

I do not have one and must say I'm very happy to be left out of that category. I can not imagine the will power some must have, I don't know if I could be that strong. At least not with my stomach today.

Sending you good vibes, I'm sure you won't have a problem!
-
You are not alone in any of those things!
I wonder if I will actually clean my house more often when I have lost weight. Right now I am too heavy to do a good job.

Do you know if there are any pre requirements?
While I don't have autozone, all that was required was the Psyc eval. Sent in on Friday to insurance and approved Monday morning. BCBSIL seems to be the most amazing company when it comes to approval. Good luck!!!
Also, there's a clause in my documents that allows for a Tummy Tuck if documented issues are proven. Can't wait for the 2nd best surgery I will ever have.
-
Psyc eval was simple. Talked for a few minutes, took the test, went over my results and that was it. Maybe if you have deeper issues it will be longer?
Haven't had my but consult yet, can't help you there. You will do just fine!

Thanks! I will order some. I wasn't sure because it seems very mixed as to whether I will be able to eat anything or not. I don't see my nut until the day before surgery because our schedules conflict.
-
What do I need on hand for the first week? Vitamins? supplements? Did anyone really eat (post op diet eat) the first week?
-
I would guess that most on this forum would admit to being at least a little scared. Heck' date=' I worry every time I board an airplane that it might go down, but I still get on.Your Dr. Will run a lot of tests to find anything that might cause a problem. Try to relax and think about your new future. You are in good hands, I'm sure.[/quote']
Haha that's funny, I do the same thing when I'm going away.

It's interesting you bring this up now. I just had a conversation with my grandpa yesterday and this came up. He had a version of this same surgery but in 1971 and for totally different reasons. (Back then' date=' they did this surgery as a treatment for extremely bad ulcers. And of course it wasn't laparoscopic either.) But he had the same titanium staples ever since then, and never a single problem. He just recently had an issue where he had to have images taken of his stomach, and his doctor today told him the staples look just as good now as they would if this was a recent surgery.[/quote']Very good to know.

Oh' date=' the only things I have left to do are, ABG's, an all day education class (nutrition I think), and to meet with my doctor again. I have my ABG's on Sept 30th, and I'm going to pick up my preop diet info at that time.[/quote']Just did my ABG this morning. The pulm test took all of 10 minutes!
Who DOESN'T have a pre-op diet?
