  1. I am down 3 dress sizes, whoop whoop !

  2. Hi there I had my surgery on the 15 August at Dolan Park by Mr Sigurdsson. I felt that I wasn't very well informed when in hospital waiting for my surgery. I was just left waiting with no idea of when I was due to go down. Nurses were OK but not brilliant, I have had just as good service with the NHS. The nurse and dietician who have called me since surgery have been lovely and really helpful. I had my first fill this week with a lovely nurse and it was totally pain free, have felt fine since. I am pleased that I have gone for the surgery and feel that the hospital group has been good value. Good Luck everyone

Are there many people from the UK here?

Hi I am from the UK, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, only 60 miles from Birmingham. This is a great site, and so easy to use and everyone is very friendly. Where are you from?

    Had my 1st fill yesterday

I had my first fill as well yesterday. It went really smoothly and I didn't feel a thing! I already had 4ml from my surgery date and they added another 1ml. I have felt quite weak and tired since my fill, but I wonder if its because I am back on fluids, which has been a real shock. I have been enjoying proper food so much. Just two days of mushies now and back to proper food on Saturday. Bliss Good Luck everyone
  7. Hope the fill yesterday is going to do the trick :)

    How is everyone doing??

Ah this sounds good. I had my first fill yesterday. I had 4ml when I had my surgery and then another 1ml put in yesterday. I didnt feel a thing, I couldnt believe it when she said she was all done! i had forgotten how hard liquids are though, I hate milkshakes and have had soup for lunch and tea today. My energy feels quite low. Looking forward to the mushy diet tomorrow and friday, but cant wait for normal food on Saturday. They were really pleased with my weight loss though, and I just hope I don't feel as hungry when I start proper food on Saturday. Onwards and upwards. Good Luck everyone

    How is everyone doing??

How is everyone doing? I am due for my first fill next week, I feel really ready for it as feel hungry and could eat anything and everything at the moment ! x
  12. I am 4 weeks post op today and have lost a total of 29 pounds. I am feeling so good, I have started on normal food today, a bit scary at first but it has gone so well. Today I had weetabix for breakfast, 2 crackers and soft cheese for lunch with 2 plums and then fish fingers, potato wedges and baked beans for tea followed by some peach slices. I can definitely feel the difference between eating mushy and firm food on my band, I felt fuller quicker. Just hope it continues so positively.

    How is everyone doing??

I am 4 weeks post op today and started proper food today. I am due for my first follow up on 24 September. I really noticed a difference with my band today when eating solid food rather than mushies and couldn't eat as much, but then felt hungry after about 2 hrs when before I could go for 4hrs without hunger. I think I was probably a bit nervous as I ate some crackers and I was so frightened about them getting stuck ! But that didn't happen and I was fine. I too feel a bit frustrated about not being able to drink for an hour after food, and have started to make sure that I drink plenty before I eat now. I am really trying to make good food choices and have succeeded up until now. I have lost 5 pounds this week so feel good about that, but realise that I won't probably lose that sort of weight next week. We have all got to try and be motivated and pleased that hopefully any weight loss is good and hopefully it will remain off for ever Good Luck everyone x

    It's the little things

That is such a positive story. Its so important to be able to go and do social things with friend without feeling a freak. I too have been able to go out and socialise with friends and felt a bit anxious at first, but was able to chose baked potato and tuna, and enjoyed being out so much and can't wait to do it again! Onwards and upwards and looking forward to all of those social events
  15. I have had real problems going to the toilet since my op. I have had to have two enemas to help me go, as it was impossible. I am now on 15ml of lactulose day and night to help me. Is this a normal problem? I know I am eating much less food now which I realise must impact. But I would love to know if anyone has had similar problems and how long it took for them to resolve.
  16. Thank you for all your support. I am in the UK and haven't heard of Miralex, but will ask about it and see if it will help. It is reassuring to know I am not on my own
  17. Feeling well supported :)

    Starting over?

i don't feel I can really help as I am only 3 weeks post op. But looking at your stats you have done so well, losing 79lbs is amazing, its a huge achievement, and I am assuming your band has helped you do it. Try and think positively about it now and how it has really helped you achieve your goals. You have only 35lbs to go and you have achieved so much so far. Think back to when you started your journey and how you felt then and why you made the decision to have a band in the first space and you will soon get your mojo back

4 Weeks Post-Op and Feeling GREAT

I am 3 weeks post surgery and also now feel really good. I had a rough first week and also felt like why did i do something this drastic. But that has changed now and I feel pleased with my decision. Since I have been on mushies my appetite has really increased and I am definitely craving food now. My sense of smell and taste seems to have intensified as well. When I smell certain foods I really fancy them. I am eating around 800 -900 calories a day which I think is the reason the weight loss is slower as it affects our metabolism, and this almost needs a kick start. I too want to constantly weigh myself but I am now doing weekly weigh ins as it was becoming an obsession. Our weights vary so much from day to day anyway. Good Luck on your journey
  20. All the very best to both of you. This is the start of the rest of your life as a fitter, healthier person. Good Luck

You definitely are trying to do too much. Remember you have had major surgery and your nutritional intake is much less so your energy levels will be much lower. It is normal to feel weak and tired at the beginning, so rest up as must of you can and try and get your liquids in. You will feel so much better when you start on your mushy diet, your energy levels will improve and you will start to feel back to normal. You take care
  22. Thanks Pastor O we are now!

  24. I live in England and am interested where you had your surgery. I know that where I had mine done, they have a lot of clients from Scotland and Ireland. I had my surgery with The Hospital Group - Dolan Park - Mr Sigurdsson on the 15 Aug. Hope things work out for you
