    Daily required protein?

Do you watch how much protein is in your food so you have the right daily allowance? On a couple of other threads people have said they do and I'm worried as I don't think I am having enough??!! Does anyone know how much I should be having a day?

    Evening All.

Hey Emma You've already lost 9lb! Well done
  5. Hi MaryumC I had my band fitted at the end of Jan and I def had diarrhea and was starving! Baring in mind that you only have liquids before the op and then for a few weeks after so you get really hungry and your stomach makes awful noises!hehehe You also need to remember that your band isn't working yet as you haven't had a fill so mentally and physically you are hungry. This will pass and believe me when you do start to eat again (even if it is just mushies) it is heaven I also had bad diarrhea when I came out but only for a couple of days and then I was really constipated because of all the medication. I didn't have that much pain to be honest but am sure the port pain is probably normal as everyone feel pain differently and I have been pretty lucky in that area. The pain and everything will get better so keep your chin up. I was back to work within a week (and I am a baby when it comes to pain) so give yourself another couple of days and you will def feel better.

Bandsters, What did you eat today???

anon I was the same before my restriction. My dietician couldn't believe I had eaten a Krispy Kreme but hey ho at least I was honest! yesterday B - 1xweetabix L - went to nandos for lunch and had chicken salad (could only eat about a 1/4 but managed a couple of spoonfuls of frozen yoghurt for dessert! D - Thai prawn curry and 1 spoonful of rice (haven't eaten rice since december so I wasn't sure how it would go down but it went down a treat!) The only thing I need to cut down on is apple juice as I am drinking sooooooo much of it and I know it has added calories

To fill under X- Ray or not????

Hi ukangel When I had my first fill it was under xray and they saw that my esophagus was filling back up when I swallowed the barium drink so they only put in a small restriction. Also they had trouble getting to it so I was really panicked that if the dr couldn't get to the band that easily how the hell is the nurse going to find it doing a blind fill! Luckily, the nurse did the blind fill in a matter of minutes and I have good restriction. I have my fills with the Hospital Group so to pay to have an xray fill is about another £150 or something which I think is too much!

  12. Hello all Have only just found this thread and i'm so pleased I have!! I was looking through the main threads and found people who only have a 50lbs or so to loose and was worried that there wouldn't be anyone as big as me It is so inspirational to see the journey people have been on and the amount of weight people have managed to loose. I am trying hard and have the extra aim that my sister is getting married next summer so I am determined to look good as her maid of honour!

Interesting article I found this evening...

When I originally went to see my doctor about having somekind of procedure this was the one I was thinking of having and my doctor did the research and said it was quite dangerous and wouldn't recommend it to me as some of the balloons had burst etc so I ended up getting banded although not through NHS as the waiting list was ages!!!!!!!

    Losing hair

Hi anon, One more thing, did your hair grow back to normal after lightlife? have you noticed any difference since having the band?

    Losing hair

Thanks for your reply it has made me feel much better! I did lighterlife about 5 years ago and lost 3 st but stopped the diet as I was losing my hair and luckily it has been fine and grown back as before but the rate at which I am losing it now is freaking me out a bit I just hope my body will adjust in a couple of months and stop the fallout. I was banded on 28 Jan 07 and have just had my second fill. I started out at 22st and am now 19st 3lb so I have lost just under 3st in just over 3 months which is about right I think but I am going to really watch what I put in my mouth and make sure it has all the the right nutrients etc. Any foods you can suggest which will help??

    Hospital Group ?

I called the Hopsital Group about 2 weeks ago when I was really down about my weight loss and had a right go at the lady on the end of the phone saying that I paid all this money for the op and I was given misleading information i.e. the fact I was told that there would be support groups etc and I was also told that a fitness adviser would contact me to give me advice if I needed it. The lady was very apologetic and said that they are reinstating the groups and a fitness adviser called me up that night so it made me a little happier.

    Newbie from Harlow, Essex

Hi there Is anyone else from Harlow, Essex? If so let me know as I would love to meet up! My story is: Had the op on 20 Jan and the retractor broke during surgery so when I woke up I had all the scars to show for it and the band wasn't in!!! As you can imagine I was devastated and went home not knowing if I could go through with it a second time. After my family spoke to me and said that I already had the scars I might as well have something to show for them etc so I decided to go for it. On 26 Jan (weighing 22 st/308lbs) I and went back in and had Dr Somers (anyone from London will know him as Anne Diamond’s surgeon) who was fantastic perform the surgery. Everything went fantastically well but the surgeon explained why the first op would have been difficult and that was because my rib cage etc is tiny inside my body and they had to lift all of the excess fat to put the band in and it was hard. I went to see the dietician on 20 March (2 months since the op) and I weighed in at 19.9st/273lbs so am very happy with the rate of everything. The only issue I had is that I was booked in for my first fill on 16 March and they could only put in 1.8 as my oesophagus kept on filling up with fluid – has this happened to anyone else? I am now feeling as though I am the only one working at this and the band isn’t doing its job as I am not really feeling any restriction i.e. I don’t burp when full or have any tightness. Am going to see if my weight has slowed down on 20 April and if it has I am going to ask for another fill. I am due to be a bridesmaid in July this year so it has definitely given me the added incentive to get this weight off!!!:clap2:
