I stopped taking my Vitamins a little while ago as I found it hard finding chewable vitamins. I was originally told to have mulitvitamins and minerals and a Calcium supplement. As a result I stopped and have noticed my hair has started to fall out again. Can anyone tell me what vitamins they take and whether I should just get good quality vitamins like Sanatogen a - z gold and Osteocare calcium tablets and cut them in half and swallow them or take the not so good chewable ones. Does it take a long time to digest the tablets if I swallow them? Please help!

I am finished with the Hospital Group and want to have an x-ray fill and just wondered if any of you have had one in London and whereabouts? Also how much does it cost? I feel after a year I should have one to check everything is ok

Hi Gingercat Who did your consultation? I had mine with the HG and am now a year out. I am also in the same situation as UKangel and going for a full refund as the service provided has been rubbish.

Thanks Anon for this. Dr Somers acutally did my operation so I will find out how much he charges.

I know I am in control but I would rather go to the same person who has done my last few fills and they know what my body can take and where my port is placed. I will look into how much these others charge.

I am doing a complaint letter to Dolan Park today as I have had enough!!!!! My weight has pretty much not moved for a while and I have called for a fill only to be told that there is only 1 lady in the whole of London that does the fills and she only does 1 day a week!! I can't get in for a fill until the middle of November. I let rip at the lady on the phone today to say that in the marketing material they sent me it said that the reason to choose The HG was because they offer a better service than their competitors i.e. we can have fills as and when we need them (we have to pay of course!) and the support groups which have never happened since I had my op in Jan. Will let you know how I get on. Rant over!!

Hi Celina It is a very individual choice and I wouldn't want to say have the band or not but for me I don't regret a second. I had my op over 5 months ago and have lost over 3st so it def works. I was back to work after 1 week and I told everyone I had been in hopsital to have my gallstones removed which worked out well as people were really careful that I didn't pick up anything too heavy etc. I started out at 22st and am now 18st 9lb and I am only 5'2 so I am a LOT bigger than you so your weight loss might be slower in the beginning. I know there are a lot of people who are around your weight who have been banded so it might be worth searching for the lower BMI people to ask their advice and see if it has been worth it to them - Im sure it has. Hey anon I am was in exactly the same position as you. I have totally lost my way (mainly down to the fact I have needed a fill for about 3 weeks but have put if off as I had a wedding on Saturday) The wedding is now over and I had a my 3rd fill yesteday. I now have 5.5ml in my band so Im hoping its going to give me the restriction I desperately need. I now plan to be 100% and work with the band to get 4 st off by xmas - big target but Im gonna see what I can do.

Hi anon Don't let that awful fill put you off as I also had a nightmare 1st fill under xray. I was bleeding loads because they kept trying to reposition the needle etc. My second fill was a blind fill by the nurse and literally took 2 mins. I was so scared but it was sooooooooo easy the second time around so don't let it put you off and also remember the weight that you loose between each fill is going to make it easier for them to find the port. I have seriously lost my way the last couple of weeks and have def gained but am too scared to step on the scales. I just can't seem to stop eating choc!!! Anyway I am also going to aim to do the 3lb a week loss as I have a wedding in Cyprus in Sept to go to. What are you planning to eat so that I can try and see if we are both eating the same kinda portion sizes etc.

Sue I'm so sorry for your loss. That is absolutely tragic. I am at a loss for words.... Just know that people are sending you their prayers.

God I have had my share on cringing moments: Firstly, having to order and extension seat-belt on my flight to LA. I made a decision then and there that as soon as my holiday was over I would diet but needless to say I gained and gained. Secondly, I went to a friends wedding and everyone was standing up watching the bride and groom cut the cake and a man bumped into me and I turned and apologised (don't know why I did as he bumped into me!!!) and he turned and shouted to his friends 'you know I said I would be the fattest person at this wedding I was wrong she is fatter than me'. I was mortified and could feel tears welling up. My friend and her fiance had overheard and couldn't even look at me as they felt so bad. My upset soon turned into anger so I waited as I knew he would be back and sure enough he was. He then came right up to my face and said 'I told my mates you are the fattest person here not me' and I said 'you've got to be joking you're massive you fat f**ker' and he was sooooooooooo shocked!!! All his mates laughed at him and I walked off and cried my eyes out.

I am also having really bad hair loss. I have had a blood test to check my iron and sugar level and that is fine so the dr said that it is just my body going into shock at the low amount of calories I am eating and the weight loss etc. Im giving it another month then going back to the dr but it is freaking me out how much hair I am losing when I wash it What vitamins are you taking? I am having real trouble finding good chewable tables.

Im from the UK but am thinking about doing a long weekend in Vegas so count me in!

My arms are awful as well but I met someone the other day who has had surgery on her arms since being at goal a while and the scar is awful!!! It runs from her elbow to her armpit and is very noticeable so I am now thinking I will just have a TT and wear shrugs to cover the arms! I'm trying to get some swimming in so hopefully that will help.

Hi Brandychick Before the op I was a total diet coke addict and I mean seriously! I would have it with Breakfast, lunch and dinner and it was the only thing I ever drank and I thought that would be the hardest thing to give up but I haven't touched a drop since New Year as I knew I was being banded in the Jan and my Dr told me it could make the band slip. I have been told I could drink it went its flat but it wouldn't be the same for me. My tipple was Voka and diet coke but now I drink Vodka with either orange or pinapple juice and its ok but not the same so I have started to drink wine when I go out instead. I do miss the diet coke

Hi Brandychick Everyone feels the same! I still want to load my plate full and mentallly I still want to eat a lot even though I know I can't I went to an all you can eat buffet thing the other day and I was really good and only put a little bit of food on my plate by I was soooooooooo moody throughout the whole lunch because everyone was eating huge plates full of lovely food. My family don't understand me still being upset about it as they think its great that I can only eat a small amount which it is but I still miss eating all that food - strange but it must be just the comfort of it all.

To be honest if I had to do it again I would prob go with BUPA as their package is cheaper and they do unlimited fills which are worth their weight in gold! The only reason I went with the HG is because they are well known and I wanted Dr Somers who is meant to be the best in the UK and I had a fantastic experience with him.

You are all done soooooooo well. Edie - What Protein bars did you eat? and was it one a day?? Also, this is probably me being thick but what is sf liquids?? Thanks

Hi everyone Only just found this link!! I also got banded at the end of Jan and have managed to loose 42lb but I know I could do better... Am determined to loose at least 10lb a month so here goes!

Hi Laura You're not that far from me as I'm in Harlow!! 92lbs in under a year is amazing - well done!

Has anyone had this happen?? I am def noticing that I am losing hair and it's freaking me out! I saw my dietician last week and she siad it could be because I am low in iron as Im not eating meat etc. I am off to the doctors on Friday for a blood test to see if that is the reason. Has this happened to any of you?? Does it right itself naturally or did you take protein shakes???????? Help!

Just seen this link but wanted to add I also had my surgery done with Shaw Somers and he was fantastic. He put me totally at ease and touch wood everything is working well!
