eatoandc got a reaction from kll724 in am i paranoid
Hi i was banded a week ago and have felt pretty good just sore. So yesterday i lifted a bag of groceries that might have been too heavy. afterward i did not feel very good a little pain. now i feel just a different kind of sore in different spots that i had been feeling before. So my question is ... if i messed something up in there with the band would i for sure know it and be feeling alot of pain? Am i paranoid? i know the best thing to do is call dr but like i said its not really painful just a different sore feeling. And i know most veteran banders are pretty helpful and encouraging so just wanted to see what yall had to say about it before i start calling and making a big fuss.

    Hi eat
Sounds like you overexerted yourself. Just listen to your body. Once you feel any strain, stop. I'm currently recovering from cosmetic surgery and it's the same. You do something because you feel up to it but than your muscles are sore afterwards. Just take it easy and try to rest those sore spots.
If you actually did anything major like ripping out stitches, slipped the band etc it's going to be acute pain, not soreness. Never hurts to share this w/ your doc but follow your instincts (which yours sound spot on)

I found those first 2 weeks to be the worst. I know what you mean about feeling the hurt of hunger. For me it came in waves. It's been 3 years, now, so I don't quite remember what I did that helped.
I'ts a good idea to look a list of what is considered full liquids.
I do remember at some point going to my favorite Thai food restaurant to get a take out order of Panang Curry, no rice. I took it home and put it in the blender and made it a soup! I learned how to make my own so it wasn't so expensive. I also learned to make asian tapioca, which is served hot --- feels good on the tummy.
I love a baked yam blended in a blender with a little melted butter and salt. Kind of a yam Soup.< /p>
Not everyone can eat the same, though, so kind of listen to your body.
That was one thing I learned being banded: I'd go shopping and would listen very closely to my body about what it wanted. I would reach for something to put in my basket and my body would react with a yes or a no. And often it was yes one day and no the next, to the very same item!!
If you like massages, go get one. You can lay on your side and on your back.
You could get a pedicure! oh, a hot wax treament would feel really good, too!
    Get your hair done!
New shoes!!! You'll be going for lots of walks, I assume, so new shoes is a must!!
Just be creative and have as much fun as you can as you recover. And keep your sense of humor!

i been feeling so good since my surgery on 9/25...but i have to admit ...liquids are not enough anymore, I AM HUNGRY TOO, i have two more days... On wednesday is the end of my liquid diet, so I am going to have the most wonderful 4 ounces of Breakfast I deserve for being so good, without cheating after being cooking for my family all this days, sorry I needed to vent. Didn't sleep at all last night!

My Dr says first day/same day of surgery Clear Liquids then for two weeks post op full liquid diet. I was actually confused because they gave me my pain meds in pill form. I guess they will go through since I won't have a fill in my band at first

I've gotten into the habit of going into my closet on Sunday evenings and trying on clothes. I'm actively loosing weight so I never know what's going to fit. And when I wasn't doing it weekly I missed out on wearing some things.
So today I'm standing in front of the mirror wearing a formal dress (have an event in early December) and my son comes in and says "aren't you a little old to be playing dress up?" Which I promptly reply - NOPE.
    Anyone else play dress up?

What kind of exercise is alright to do in the weeks after the op? I use the Nike NTC app 4 times week at the moment but should I just stick to walking/running after my op? And how long until I can get to more rigorous exercise (jumping, Zumba, medicine ball stuff etc)? I just want to hit the ground running and don't want to rely only on the smaller food intake

Glad to hear that same here!! I was banded Thursday and already feel the soreness going away a little bit. My gas has kinda moved from the chest down lower. Very loud and grumbly.

Today was my day... Of course I feel some pain and mostly gas. Not too too terrible. Should I expect it to get worse before it gets better? Or might this be the worst day? I know everyone is different but just wondered what y'all might have experienced.

I had the same reaction when I was banded and I was not expecting my reaction to be so dramatic. When I got home the same day as my surgery I started crying like I've never cried before. Crying so hard that I would heave and couldn't breath, making myself hyperventilate. When my family saw me crying and upset they tried to comfort me with hugs but I didn't want anyone to touch me and I would literally back into a corner like an injured, abused, and scared animal and cry when they tried to hug me proclaiming that no one understood what I was feeling and hating everyone that didn't feel my fear or disappointment. I even started calling out to my grandmother who had died a few months before I had the surgery.
I scared my entire family with my behavior and I was completely miserable and immediately googled "how long do i have to wait to get my lap band removed"
But it does get easier even if you think it never will get better. After you start healing you're able to drink more. I think not being able to get liquids down was what really freaked me out those first few hours home. As you go along you'll be able to eat more. It just takes getting used to.
Now there are times when I tell my family, "hey, remember that time after surgery when I went crazy..." and we laugh about it now.

I went apeshit on the IUD...I already have emotional and anxiety problems and it was so bad I actually took a swing at my husband who is NOTHING but loving and supportive because he stepped into an argument between me and my mother. IUD came out the following week and he went in for a vasectomy instead.
You are kinky, girl. I love it. =)

The trick for motivation is....keep telling yourself "I can do this today, no reason I cannot... I've done it yesterday, I can do it today"...and after a few times of that, you start telling yourself "I can do this, I've done it dozen's of times" Then 100's of times, etc, etc, then "Everyday"
    and before you know it.......
It's 5 am right now, having my coffee...will head to the gym at 5:30 to run my 5 miles....it's easy...I've done it before, I've done it dozen's of times, I now do it everyday!!! NO REASON I CAN"T DO IT TODAY!!!!!
I started with the same program...struggled with it..took me about 14 weeks to complete the 8 weeks because there were weeks I struggled with and went back and repeated the entire week.....
I now run at least 5 miles a day and it's all routine....and that is getting easier so now I am increasing my pace.....to keep my heart rate at optimum...
I am 61 years old, a heart attack survivor, and only started this since being banded....and I am still improving, So I don't like it when people say they can't...or don't have the time....

I love tattoos! I have 5 but they are all in simple places like my ankles and foot..ive been picky on where I get it because of my weight but I am using a new tattoo as a reward when I lose 100 lbs...I wanna get one on my shoulder. I never got one there because im too self conscious to wear a tank top and whats the point of a tattoo if u cant show it off right? Congrats on the dress and the new look! I cant wait til I get to the point where I can shop for smaller clothes! Reading these stories inspire me even more! What is ur tattoo going to be?
