  1. The emotional roller coaster will likely get worse before better..Not saying that for any other reason but experience. I was a self pay too and I was scared nervous the whole nine yards...then after surgery I was fine UNTIL the next day on the way home..I fell apart!!! I couldnt for the life of me figure out what I had just done to myself and why I couldnt just be one of the skinny girls....BUT that pasted too. It is quite a ride but not one that you cant handle. This site is the BEST and if I hadnt of been on here before being banded I probably would of thought I was dying!! But I knew to walk walk walk and thats what I did...I was up and peeing as soon as they put me in my room and I wanted to walk and they wouldnt let me...TOO SOOn they said..I said...OH NO IT ISNT...I am walking NOW!!! Everyone on this site is very well informed, some even though they are not banded yet too!! Everyone is so willing to help you through and answer questions, and its like a mini family...home away from home....lets just say..soon you wont be able to leave this site to even go to bed!!! :notagree :notagree I eat sleep and LOVE lap band talk forum!! Good luck to you and just cry if you have too...even if you dont know why you are crying...it sure helps and you will feel much better!! Deanna
  2. WOW Lucy.....could not of put that any better if I had sat for hours thinking about it. GOOD JOB!! Deanna
  3. Good luck with your move and the NEW U...look forward to hearing more from you!!
  4. Welcome!!! Pull up a chair and stay awhile!! Deanna
  5. Well, you know in the exercise thread maya was a personal trainer also she says..."in a different life" and got paid really good money for it...I wondered how many people would pay a teenager 75 dollars for a consultation? Just wondering... Some people just need attention no matter WHO it is coming from...
  6. LOL bubblebutt. I know but look funny with capris....I wish I could get rid of them...and NO THEY WANT ME WEARING THEM FOR 6 WEEKS
  7. I was banded same day 4-19 and I have an appt. for a fill on May 21st...but if I dont want one or if I am losing still then I dont have to get one. I am getting hungry for solids, but not craving anything in particular...you know the one thing that I thought I could not live without...PIZZA...never even crosses my mind. I am not saying I will NEVER eat it...but I dont have the I HAVE TO HAVE PIZZA NOW OR I AM GONNA SCREAM attitude that I had pre band. I am eating mushies and tonight I had chicken breast that I cooked all day in crock pot...added some veggies and potatoes....and this evening had a wonderful meal...well, if you can call it a meal...blended up the chicken with some of the juice and it was delicious...veggies were mushy and mashe some potato up.... It was a great and family could eat it too!!
  8. I think I missed the memo for this thread!! I wanna be a SHRINKING VIOLET!!!! I was banded 4-19-07 !! I love all this great conversation on this thread....I went and bought a bike tonight..not a spendy one..a Schwinn from Kmart and went for a ride...BOY, I have been walking 2 miles a day BUT this biking thing USES TOTALLY DIFFERENT MUSCLES!!! I think I am going to like it though. I actually was gonna wait because I thought I was gonna be too fat (like my stomach) to ride, but It didnt seems to get in the way at all....I was great fun and hubby got one too..so I dont have to do it alone...what a great guy!! Deanna
  9. Hi all, does anyone else out there have to wear ted hose for 6 weeks?????????????? I am getting sick and tired of these damn things...its been two weeks and I am not really sure I can take much more...and then the spirometer? Again they want me sucking on that for 6 weeks...I am walking 2 miles a day so I havent been doing that anymore I think my lungs are doing great!! Just wanted to know if anyone else were required to do these things? Deanna
  10. Hi Mya, I have been reading your other posts about being 117 pounds and wanting to be 97 so you can be a model. Although everyone is surely welcome on here...I am not sure you really should be paying 8,500 to be banded.. after you are banded you know that you can still eat right? It is NOT going to stop you from eating..and also..you are 18...how could you of been a personal trainer...when you were 12? People were paying a teenager with no college education $75 dollars for a consult? I am having a really hard time with this and most of the other things you say. Maybe you should try to eat lettuce and cucumbers for a while and see if you can lose that 20 pounds that you seem to think you need a lap band for. Gastric bypass might be a better solution than the lap band. Anyways, best of luck to you in your fantasy world....:straight
  11. You know I was thinking about being scared and i was reading in the complications thread about a gal who had to get her gallbladder out and she was so glad so now she wouldnt be sick anymore and she would start feeling better!! I think the difference is the type of surgeries...elective vs. HAVE TO HAVE IT NOW!!! But if we think about the lap band as HAVE TO HAVE IT NOW because we need to feel better now...then maybe it wouldnt be so hard to swallow the fact that you are having surgery. I mean, if you didnt have the Lap band surgery and then 2 years from now you have to have open heart surgery because you have a heart attack because of the obesity and comorbidities, you would be glad that the doctor was going to fix your heart so you could live longer....I dont know, I am just ranting...I was scared too and I dont think there is anything anyone can say to make it better or the nervousness go away. But, I do know, that my doctor told me three years ago that if I didnt do something about my weight I would not be around in 10 years...So three years later...I was 7 years away from the ten year time frame...and I got scared...more scared than thinking about the surgery... You will get through it and then wonder why you were so nervous...thats how it always works.....but in the mean time....CONGRATULATIONS!! You are gonna be healthy:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Deanna
  12. That is, assuming they do anything other than funnel right through. VERY GOOD POINT
  13. Dawn, GOOD JOB!!22 pounds is awesome:high5: your on fire now!! :whoo: :wow2: :humble: I hope that was some good encouragement for you !! Deanna
  14. awwee Tina...so sorry....I know it is quite a shock to your system especially after you have had so much anticipation waiting for it!!! It gets better every day and always day two and three are the worst!! Sorry you threw up...that must have felt aweful...try to walk...I know EVERYONE says that...but it really does help...Deanna
  15. well, both of you explained sipping way better than I ever could. I guess that sometimes I do way more than a sip but never do I gulp. I dont know. I am wondering how if you only sip...can they realistically expect you to get in all that water....especially if you have a job where you are on the phone all day or talking to people all day. You cant have a bottle stuck out of your mouth...hey now theres an idea...maybe they could just hook us lapbanders up with an IV and then we wouldnt have to sip all day!!!:biggrin1:
  16. sip? What is it? A mouthful? A barely anything in your mouth? I find that I am not gulping water, but I would liken it to a swig.....not a sip...a sip to me is maybe a 1/2 teaspoon...a swig is more like a tablespoon...any thoughts? I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooo thirsty now after surgery...I have absolutely no problem getting in my water but I am wondering if I could be drinking too much. Can water stretch out pouch? Deanna
  17. my question is this....how if they are suppose to sew the port in place does it get upside down or sideways? I wonder if some doctors are just placing it in and then sewing you up without sewing the port in place. And while on the subject....does anyone think that sit ups could do any harm to the port?
  18. THere is a really good one called Carb Solutions. I got mine at Albertsons. They have 110 caloried and 21 g protein. That is alot and they TASTE SO GOOD...I tried the EAS and I think they are soooo gross...although I only tried the strawberry kind and not the chocolate kind. I also got some of the ISOPURE drinks and I go the grape frost or something like that...It was fine for about 5 minutes..and then all of a sudden it seemed like I could taste the whey. I dont know...maybe it was because I was thinking about it...Deanna
  19. Get down on all fours and put your head down on the ground with pillow supporting your tummy and the gas MIRACULOUSLY bubbles out!!!!! I am telling you it works. I was in the ER on Thursday thinking I had a blood clot in lung the pain was so intense..ER doc told me this trick...and on Friday..(the next day), which was 1 week 1 day after surgery...I was camping and fishing from the boat!!!!! The best "secret" I think!!! I am going to call my doc. office tomorrow and tell them this secret so they can pass it on!! Deanna
  20. OH LAURA!!!!!!!!!!!! Your the exact one I was talking about!!! I was sooo glad that you were okay! I know that the other gal who had the blood clot posted and then you went to ER!! I am sorry they were not nice to you! The hospital where I ended up going in my home town didnt know anything about the lap band! But that didnt surprise me thats why I went out of town to do this procedure. The ER doc said that he had told someone else to do this with their butt in the air because he had some kind of air something or other...cant remember what he said but anyways.. I have felt so MUCH BETTER since doing it and the gas is coming out!! Not to be graphic BUT BOTH ENDS! FINALLY!!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: He also said to maybe try Milk of Magnesia to get the digestive track moving to get trapped gas bubbles out of the intestine track. I havent done that yet, but probably will try that tomorrow!! All I know that all the gas is rumbling around all over in my tummy now instead of up in my rib cage! I am glad that you are alright and we were banded a few days apart...Yayyy US!!!!!!! Let me know if the butt in the air helps. It makes sense to me if all this gas is trapped up under rib cage and then always sleeping sitting up at an incline it never has a chance to get moving!! Deanna:)
  21. Hi all!! I had the worst night last night since being banded!! I was in SOOO much pain I didnt even know what to do!!! I had this SHARP stabbing pain under rib cage on left side. I got online and looked at forum and sure enough someone had the exact same pain!! One of the gals who had that same pain ended up with a blood clot:omg: Needless to say, my night was awful. I went to see my doc an hour away from home today and told him about the pain and how I was going to go to the ER but I talked myself out of it and he wanted to send me over to hospital to do ct scan. I JUST WANTED TO GO HOME at that point to hubby!!!! I was SOOO scared and in pain off and on all day. By the time I got home I was in SOOO much pain I thought I might pass out! Hubby came home and took me to ER and they did chest xray and EKG. Heart was good and xray came back clean with no pnuemonia or collapsed lung. So then the did the ct scan. They had given me some wild pain medicine and I was dozing off and on and finally the doc came in and said NO BLOOD CLOT!!!!!! I WAS SOOOO HAPPY!! NOW, for the last week since surgery I have been sleeping in a recliner. I have NOT laid down flat AT ALL!!! The doc thinks that all the gas in trapped up pushing on my diaphram.... He said that he could see a big trail of gas bubbles in my intestines that pushes up against my diaphram...so he tells me to go home and lay with some pillows under my tummy for support and put my butt in the air...:heh: :heh: :heh: I did and BOY DID THAT FEEL GREAT!!! I could hear and feel all of this air and stuff moving around. SO, I dont have a blood clot and I am sooooooo happy tonight. Thing I wanted to point out about this story is....it is better to be safe than not live to be safe!!!! But of course, Murphys Law, as soon as he came in and told me I was ok....IT QUIT HURTING!!!!!:tired But that is fine with me...I would rather KNOW for sure then sit and wonder another night!!! Deanna PS.... I lost I lost another 11 pounds since last Thursday!!!!! YIPPEEEEE!!!
  22. That is great lap dancer...btw ..love that name.. *whispers* cant wait to do some of that for DH* what do you mean by water crackers? Just regular saltines soaked in water???? Thanks!! OH I reread your post..you watered the crackers down with the Advantedge!! Deanna
  23. Sweet THang...we are band sisters!! I had mine on the 19th as well!! YOU GO GIRL!! I am a full time student and I dont work (hubby does that for me) LOL...anyways hope to talk to you again and we should keep in touch ..you know, we have a common interest....APRIL 19th!!! I dont know how much I have lost since surgery if any, but I lost 10 lbs on presurgery diet!! I own a scale but I already had a GOOD LONG TALK with myself about not using it excessively. I am going to doctor on Thursday for one week post op so I am excited to see if any weight loss. I also know from reading EVERYTHING in site that the weight loss MAY turn to gain when returning to "NORMAL" food again and that this six weeks is a healing process and not to be used to obsess about whether there is a loss or not on the scale. I can say that some of my clothes are not as tight so that is nice!!! Hope to hear from you, Deanna
  24. Riggsie, I sent you a private message. Did you receive it? I wanted to talk to you because I think you told me you got your lap band in IF also. Let me know. I sure would like to be a support and have some support close to home!!! Deanna
  25. That really made my day too!!! To know that there is going to come a time when food will not DRIVE you to Eat...but you eat because you need too!! I am sooooo looking forward to that day!! What a wonderful moment that will be and I will be yelling out to the whole world...LOOK AT ME....I AM EATING BECAUSE I HAVE TO TO LIVE!!!!!!! YIPPPEEEE!! Deanna
