  1. AWESOME post...thank you!!! I love it when people are siked up about fitness. I am so shocked as I ride my bike by houses the amount on people sitting in front of their tvs. GET UP AND MOVE PEOPLE!!! It is really great!! Deanna
  2. lol losing...I liked that "not talking from personal experience".... You will not gain muscle to the tune of gainig weight. Someone else will probably pipe in here that knows the affects of muscle and weight, but you are not gaining because you are exercising per se. Deanna
  3. Juli, that is just the coolest thing ever!!!! I would love to do that when I get a little smaller and can go faster up hills. Do you all wear the bike shorts and shirts? Does your back hurt or your hands go to sleep? Deanna
  4. Juli, I think that is the COOLEST!!! One more question....ok, two more. How many were in the group and did you do it on a hiway, freeway or just back roads? Deanna
  5. Thanks Jacqui, Your a sweet heart!! Deanna
  6. Lee, I was not talking about your bike or how much it cost. I was talking to the ones who are wondering what kind of bike to get. I had a Kmart special too and it lasted about a month before I wanted a better bike. That is what I was referring to...the better the bike the better the ride. I didn't mean for you to take it as a personal attack on your bike. I agree, it is you who does the work!!!! But the better the bike the better the bearings and the better the ride, that is what I was tying to get across to the ones who were wondering about what bike to get. Also, when I got my Raleigh versus my Schwinn it made a huge difference in how far and long I could ride. Sorry if you thought I was putting you down...Deanna
  7. WOO HOO Juli...that sounds like such fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so jealous!!!! 35 mph....holy sh~t....I bet that was a blasssssssssttttttttt..... So do they ride in pairs down the road or single line or what? I think I am still a bit big because hills slow me WAY down!!!!!! I mean like almost to a snails pace....The other night we went 16 miles and my ass hurt sooooooooooooo bad, I could barely walk afterward. LOL...I also love biking and I have a Raleigh Venture 3.0 It is a comfy bike to ride with bigger tires but meant for commuting and pleasure riding. I put it through the tests though. My hubby is getting one this Friday...he loves mine. The better bikes are so worth it!!! They are better built and are nicer riding. Good luck on finding a bike. Deanna
  8. wow, thanks for the advice from both of you... Juli, I am GLAD you answered because I like you !!!!! LOL...you are my bike hero!!! Ok, so I guess I am getting the no snacking thing is probably the way to do it. I do sometimes start eating snacks and don't stop. So, maybe I should try the three meals a day and see what happens. Also, I am thinking along the same lines of you Juli with the exercise, how am I going to do all this biking if I can't eat very much. If I was just walking around the block every other day if might be different, but I really work out!!! SO, I really appreciate both of your advice. I am going to stop snacking and just go with the three meals, and keep up the same exercise til next appt. which is July 23rd. I will see what my weight loss is from there and then if I am slowing down to 1-2 pounds a week, I will insist on a small fill. If I am still doing 4-5 pounds a week I am not going to worry about the fill. I totally know what you mean about thinking about the fill. Everyone talks about it...CONSTANTLY...so it is what you expect to do 6 weeks out of surgery. I guess maybe I should feel like a lucky one who CAN lose without a fill. I know I read a lot of people who are not losing at all or are VERY slow at losing before filling. Thanks again Jachut and Juli...Deanna
  9. Also, my doctors team always stresses that they give people three years to lose all of their excess weight. I liked that approach, because in three years a whole lot is possible. If you had 100 pounds to lose then that would be 33 pounds a year...that is very doable to me. I don't know what everyone else's doctors say, but I am sticking with the three years...that gives me LOTS of room for getting the hang of this....GOod luck and you can make it happen!! Deanna
  10. He is MIA and I LOVED reading his posts....such a shame that the new people can't "hear" what Jack has to say about the ramblings on of this site....Deanna
  11. Sorry for some of the mispelled words...like at the first when I say "too" instead of "two"....oh brother.... and "loose" when I meant "lose"....geesh
  12. Hi you too, I wanted to get your opinions on something. I totally agree with the way you eat and exercise and you both are my role models!!!!! You are both such inspirations to me that to tell you the truth, I search out your posts because you always have awesome advice and healthy ways!!!! Heres the scenerio: I started April 5th with pre op diet at 305.5 Day of surgery, April 19th, was 295 When I went for my first fill at one month, May 21st, I was 273. I was not given a fill because I had lost too much weight. I dealt with that and was fine after about a week. I decided that it would be better to go for a longer time and loose weight on my own without being filled. Ok, now on the 25th of June, I went for my monthly appt. and was 257. No fill for me. The dietician says to me she doesn't want me to snack at all. Three meals a day and 60 grams of protein a day. I am like, I am doing so good and I can't snack??? She says this will be a bad thing to continue to snack. My weight loss is an average of 4 pounds a week. I really trust what you both have to say about this. Is snacking going to do me harm in the long run? I am riding my bike 60-70 miles a week and strength training every other day. I feel like I need more food. She asked me how much food I eat, I told her I can eat about 2 cups at any one meal. Although, I do not eat breakfast, but that is because I am not hungry until about 11 a.m. I also had a doctors appt. on June 25th. The doctor is in a different building than where you go for your fills. He asked me how much I could eat and when I told him he said I needed a fill. I told him they just me no from the fill center that I had lost too much weight. :help::help::help::help::help::help::help::help::help::help::help::help::help::help::help::help::help: What do I do? Stop snacking? Insist on a fill because the doctor thinks I need one? Keep doing what I am doing and don't worry about what any of them say until I start NOT losing????? I think I know the answer you both are going to give me but I am just pissed that they want me to not eat so much, no snacking, no fill..oh brother....confuse!!! My ticker reads that I have lost three more pounds than the doctors have me losing because that is the scale that I can weigh on every week. So the doctors have me down 48 pounds since April 5th. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and hope you have time to respond and give this loser some advice. LOL...thanks... Deanna
  13. NIce Jacqui, that says a whole lot about what muscle does for a person. Muscle makes you lean and sexy, fat makes you fat and fat!!! I way perfer exercise and muscle to eating very little and not having a lean muscular body!! Deanna
  14. I had a thought about the pictures and three of us are seeing our faces as MORE fat in latest picture as compared to before pictures. I was wondering what you thought about maybe the fat comes off in your face first, then after your body has had some time to acclimate to the fat loss it might come back in your face a bit????? I don't know, I am just trying to do a guess here.....I was very disappointed in my latest pictures because I thought I should be able to see a HUGE difference in my face from the month before picture. Anyone else have any ideas???? Deanna
  15. The review is in the original thread called veggie burger!! Deanna
  16. Yes, read the exercise threads....VERY inspirational!!!!! These people on this forum are the greatest!!! Deanna
  17. I think losing is right..I think you are seeing minutes. The tickers are just a motivation and kind of like a "showing off" of what people are doing for themselves as far as exercise. Listen to your doctor, he/she will tell you what you can and can't do. Deanna
  18. WOW...you ladies are such inspirations!!! I wish the exercise thread got as much traffic and posts as the other ones....this would be one STRONG site..LOL...Keep up the good work and remember that muscle is leaner, sexier and tighter than fat is....so EXERCISE!!! Deanna
  19. I don't have carb cravings because I eat healthy carbs. I don't believe in the low carb diet. I believe it is your bodies way of saying..."hey, I need some carbs here to burn with all this exercise" Carbs are what we burn for fuel when exercising. That is the only thing I can think of...
  20. Michelle, I had the same thing happen to me. My one month post op picture I look better then my two month post op picture. I have looked and looked at it and still see no difference and sometimes seems I am bigger in the two month picture. I don't know...sucks...Deanna
  21. Ok guys. Made it. Ate it. It was good. My DH had his on a bun with tomato, lettuce and ketchup, I had mine plain with salad. It was not a burger, as in HAMBURGER, but it was good. I would make it again, though not every week probably. Deanna p.s. This is the first time ever trying a veggie burger too, so maybe why that is why it was not 4 stars from me. I will make again though.
  22. I also have more gas now. I really hadn't thought much about it that way, but I still eat a lot of beans and am going to continue to eat beans. I love them and they are great tasting. In fact I ate a can of ff refried beans for lunch today, my DH will be sleeping on the couch probably!!! Deanna
  23. I'm with Jachut...I like to eat way too much to drink shakes for meals. That is not really a healthy way IMO anyways because really, in all actuality, how many years do you really think you could drink your meals. I was bored the first two weeks out of surgery, so I can't see drinking a meal. I understand that some people can NOT eat at certain times of the day and so they drink a protein meal. I am talking about those people who drink their meals just because. I eat a lot of food during the day though. I have no fills, but I do have restriction. I can not eat like I use to. I eat way more than a 1000 calories too. I like it that way though. I LOVE FOOD!!! I am losing about 4-5 a week so I don't really consider that a bad loss. Deanna
  24. Good for you j.s. I know that I personally in the past exercise adventures of mine, once I got hurt, that was it. I would not do it one day and then the next and the next and then I thought oh well, I will just quit all together. You rock!!! Good luck with your walking and hope your back gets back in to shape so you can go out and do those weights. Deanna
  25. Yes, it is a very sad fact that SOME people will not associate with fat people. I guess maybe the lesson to be learned here after you have lost all of our weight and have a new attitude is NOT change our attitude toward fat people. I know that I myself am always judging other fat people and comparing them to myself. I know it is not right and I hate myself for doing it but it is done in my mind not outloud. I always feel better when I can see someone who is bigger than me then I feel kinda like "at least I am not the biggest one here" attitude. I know its bad and rude, but I just hope that as I shed weight that I can truly not do that anymore because there will be a whole lot of people bigger than me when I get to my goal weight. I hope I haven't offended anyone...Deanna
