Exercise for the Super Sized?
losing, GREAT JOB WOMAN!!!! I am so not worthy of you!!! I don't know if I could get out of bed that early to exercise, but I don't have to now, so I might if I HAD too I guess. Still I wonder, I don't think I would really want to!!! Kudos to all of you who get up early to get in their exercise!!!!!!!!

Official Bitching thread.....
Hey there girls, sorry if I am interupting your thread...I just wanted to say...HANG IN THERE!!!! Babygrl, I don't have a job outside the home, so I can exercise all I want. I have no outside stress to stress me out!!! I am currently going to school, which we are on summer break, so when August 27th comes around, I will have NO time to do anything either. I am worried about this, but might have to give up my 4.0 GPA so that I can get my exercise in. I feel badly for you having to get up so early and then not getting any help at home. You know, I do most of the yard work myself and keep up the house. NOW I do anyways, hasn't always been like that, I was too fat before to do it all. BUT, I don't do the weed eater, and it really pissed me off last night to be mowing the lawn and the freakin weeds are out of control and need whacked and DH is sitting on the porch watching me sweat my ass off mowing,( he wants to mow it, but 1) I want to do it for the exercise 2) If he mowed it, it would never get done. MY GOD, I am thinking, why can't he get up and weed eat. He knows I can't do it!!!! I can't start the damn thing. SO, the moral to this story is.....don't be so damn hard on yourself, you are doing great!!!!!

Challenge - July - Labor Day 2007
I think what the problem is is when people are adding themselves to the challenge, they are not using the LAST post with the names and numbers. Beach...are you saying you want to lose 65 pounds by labor day???I am not saying not to want to, I am just wondering if that is what you meant or is that your whole total left to lose is 65?

Intimacy
faith, I just want to tell you I whole heartedly agree. If a person marries the FIRST person that they think they fall in love with, that most likely would be disasterous. You have to get to know some different people. Someone you might think is the nicest person, might not really be so nice, after dating some others. My son, 19, is living with his gf. NOT that I am happy about it, BUT, I don't really want to see him sleeping around with a lot of girls either. I don't know, its hard and no one wins in my sons situation. If I would of married the father of my son when I was 17, I would now be WHO KNOWS WHERE!! I am glad that I didn't marry him. I waited and got married to another man, much older than me, and thought I would have a great life with him. NOT!!!! Divorced after 4 months.....Met current husband at 22. We have been married July 15th, for 14 years!!! Sure we had out ups and downs, but if I hadn't of had the other experiences with other men, I would not know how damn lucky I am to have the love of my life that I have now. I for one, am for trying out the merchandise before hand. And I don't necessarily mean by means of sex. Nume, You know I know how you feel and what I have been through. Faith has had similar circumstances also in the past. You need to make the best decision for you and what you need. Your hubby can't give you what you need and desire. He is not capable. I truly hope you can get some love and affection soon. We all, as humans, need love and touch.

Exercise for the Super Sized?
losing, you ARE the woman!!!!!! What a great motivator you would be, like a life coach, to someone in person who wants to go exercise but doesn't feel like they can do it!!!!! I was 305.5 two weeks before pre op. I didn't do a dang thing for exercise until an hour or two after surgery, when I started to walk the halls. When I got home, I walked around the back yard. Then I walked a block or two then more and more. Each time going farther until I hit two miles. I walked and walked every day, sometimes two times a day. I just couldn't stop. Now I am riding a bike. When I first started that I thought I might die of sore butt muscles and tiredness. But you get used to having the oxygen pumping through your body and then your body craves it!!! It really does. I don't know how or why, but it does. I feel so bad when I don't exercise, physically. Then when I do it again, I feel soooooo great!!!! My one knee had me in bouts of pain whenever I tried to do something also. It would take weeks to get over the pain and then it never really would go away. That went away immediately after surgery, but I think it was the 10 pounds pre op that did it. I havent had a problem one since. I wish you luck on your band journey and exercise really, REALLY needs to become part of your daily things you do. It really does, even though most people want to NOT do it, it needs to be done.

Eating 4 days post op
call your doctor and talk with them. You really really really should NOT be eating this soon out. If you are going to do it anyways, at least call your doctor, maybe they can explain the reason and scare you enough into NOT eating again until you are suppose to. It is only a short time out of your life. YOU CAN DO IT!!! Just be strong and keep thinking of how skinny you will be this time next year!!!

Has anyone taken up Bycyling?
Yeah, if you don't want a new bike....DON'T GO TO THE BIKE STORE!!!! They are so much more comfy, but really good for long distances. If that is what you want to do . I bought a Schwinn hybrid and then within a month got my Raleigh....The difference is so amazing. I could never of done 20 miles on the Schwinn and been walking. I actually had a hard time walking after 20 miles at all!!!! Aren't teens great for handing off stuff to them. Thats what I did too!! P.S. We bought helmets today..not too happy about it, but we did.

To those who are succeeding: What are the Critical Success Factors?
I am going to answer all though I have done extremely well and have had no bad times. The first thing that I really truly believe to be the core of the lap band is IT IS NOT A MIRACLE!! A person has to be willing to work at it with all their hearts. I read many many posts of people continually eating treats and candy, drinking pop, eating out daily.....This is not going to work!!!I think a lot of people go into the surgery thinking it is going to be piece of cake(no pun intended) and it is NOT. It is just as hard as any diet I have ever been on to eat the right nutritious things. The difference being, this time, there is a tool in place so that if I do have something that is not the best nutritionally, I don't beat myself up and give up. I start again and the tool is still there. I think people think that they are going to magically not ever be hungry again, and this is simply NOT true. You will get hungry again and then you have to do some work and eat healthy!!!! Exercising is the next important step in this puzzle of obesity. So many people hate it and so many people don't do it!!! People want to believe that they can simply never have to move their bodies and be fine. A person may very well be able to lose weight without exercising, but what about strength. We lose so much muscle when we lose weight if we are not doing strength training. We have taken a step to be healthy, why not just take the next step and start what you hate to do....exercise. Next I think that self hatred can be the worst thing that a "dieter" has to deal with. Self hatred of a body that is not losing fast enough, body image disorder and hanging skin. I think we all need to learn to love us for us. I am not saying I am there yet, but I am a lot closer than I was three months ago. These are just a few thoughts that poppes into my head as I read your post....I don't know if it is what you had in mind but hope it helps.

No fills needed
I have gone for two fills and both times they would not fill me. She says she doesn't want to do a fill if I am losing so fast on my own. After being disappointed about it, I came to realize that I am lucky I am losing so fast with no fills and am going to enjoy it while I can!!!! Although, I do have restriction without a fill so I do get full if I am in tune to my body. Now head hunger is a whole different thing!!!!

Has anyone taken up Bycyling?
Thanks Juli, I am going to get a helmet today!!! I have been riding without one since I started. I just feel like I sweat so much and get so damn hot now, add a helmet on my head and I wont be able to think!!!.. Babygrl, so you did get hurt, just didn't realize it. Hopefully the bruising wont last long and you won't find anymore. Juli, I thought maybe that was the case of the bikes, since you were talking about the different scenarios that you and GF like to ride in. Well, at least she has a bike to be able to go with you....Thats a plus!!! Oh on a side note...has anyone had carpal tunnel surgery and now get numb fingers from the pressure on the handle bars???? I am having a hell of a time with my left hand the end two fingers are driving me nuts....they go numb and stay numb for hours after I am done riding. I had the surgery over 2 years ago and for some reason just since riding my bike I have noticed this terrible numbing. Thanks all, happy riding!!

Does Crystal Light count as water?
You know I was drinking a lot of the fruit punch too and was getting a lot of headaches. I stopped drinking so much of it and the headaches are gone. I wonder what it is about the fruit punch?

Has anyone taken up Bycyling?
aweeeee babygrl...I am sooooo glad that you were not hurt!!! How scary. I don't have a helmet yet either. I know, that is just dumb, but that is the way it is right now. If I would of flew over my handlebars, people would of thought that a land whale was in their midst!!!!!! God, how embarassing...poor you!!!! I think I would of just died!!! At least you were not hurt. Thats the important thing. How long before you will be able to get your bike in to the shop? What did DH say???? Juli, does your GF have a road bike too?? You will have fun either way, at least you are spending time together...and its active....not at a restaurant pigging out!!!! LOL....have fun!

Intimacy
YEAH nume....you are right around the corner to being in bandland!!!

Odd reaction after surgery?
I did the same thing. It was so weird. I have never been cold in my whole life. I was wearing a sweater around all the time. It lasted a good couple of weeks and then all of a sudden it was gone, as fast as it came on. I don't know why it happened. I did not have a fever.

Has anyone taken up Bycyling?
Woo Hoo!!! Keep at it!!! I did 10 miles this morning and over 10 this evening with DH...It is great except the extremely hot temps over 100 here today....Too dang hot!!! As for your seat, you are the one who has to ride the bike, so it should be comfy to you. They bike store wanted me to get a medium framed bike, but I felt better with a large frame so that is what I got. It is all about you and how you feel as you ride, which by the way, can change rapidly, so just pay attention to how your body feels and you might need to adjust things up a bit. Deanna

Just got the call...
YEEEEEAAAAAAA!!! Good for you!! You are so upbeat about your situation! I am SOOO glad that you got approved. Deanna

Over zealous????
Ok, here is my opinion on the matter. IF you buy the dress in a size you THINK will fit next summer and then you end up losing A LOT more or less than you are thinking you need to fit into the dress, then you might skip right over getting to wear it. I guess I am trying to say, if you buy the dress in a, say 16, then lose weight so fast that by next summer you are a 12...then you skip right over getting to wear it. But, if you think that will be motivation for you to do better so you can get into the dress then I say go for it. Especially if it is not really to expensive and won't hurt too much if you never get to wear it!!

Bowflex
I have the bowflex revolution. I love it so much. I do a strength training program every other day with it...so three days one week then four days the next week. Their equipment is so well made....I am soooo impressed. I don't think you could go wrong with any of their stuff. You can always send it back too!! Good luck

Water while excersizing ..
The way I understand it is that if there is nothing in the pouch, then liquid will go straight through into the stomach. I think the problem comes when you have food in your pouch and then drink lots of liquid it could potentially stretch the pouch out. I think that is some of the idea behind the waiting to drink after you eat too, not only to keep the food in the pouch and feel full longer, but to decrease the chances of stretching out the pouch.
