Hey, Rica! I did't know you were coming to Texas. Must have missed that post. Glad you liked it. What part of Texas did you see?
-
Oh, Leatha! I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this! I had my gallbladder taken out when I was only 15 (many, many years ago!). Back then it was major surgery and I have a huge scar to prove it. Thank God, they figured out how to do it with such a tiny incision now! I will never forget the kind of pain I went through before the surgery. It was really awful, so I am very glad that you have scheduled the surgery. You don't need to live with that kinda pain, girl! Good luck, and like Maria said, soak up that sympathy while you can!

Wow, Shelly! My hat's off to you, girl! You look beautiful!!!

Called the Doctor's Office
blossom replied to Iluvharleys's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, Betty! If you are willing to drive to Denton, Drs. Mosier and Johnson have a deal for under 15K. Includes surgery and all after care and fills for one year (or it could have been longer). Their office # is 940-382-2646. They also have a payment plan, but the hospital does require 10K upfront. -
Well, you know, those dogs are the only children I will ever have. So I took my commitment seriously... I learned how to groom and did all the grooming myself, and I make all the dog food, too. Yep, we have lotsa wonderful memories! I have been so very busy at work lately that I haven't had much time to pop in here much. But as things slow down, I will be back!

Terry, OMG!!! The pic of your dog brought tears to my eyes. She looks so very much like my Tilly who I lost on Oct. 25, 2003. She was a black and white Shitzu/Poodle mix. I got her when she was 5 weeks old, she was 15 yrs old when she died and I held her all the way through it. Worst day of my life! I have another little dog, Scrappy who is going on 18 yrs old. He is getting veeeerrrrrrry slow these days, so I know it won't be long before his time comes, too. These days are so hard!!! I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thank you, Debra! We all need to hear more success stories. Sounds like you have done an awsome job! -
Alex, you have a lovely family!!!! You're doing great, keep up the good work!

Rica, I work in the administrative side of a medium to large school district. I know exactly how sarcastic and catty some of these people can be. I know this goes on in other work places, but to me it was just shocking to find it in such an extent in a school district. This is exacty why I have decided to be a "closet" bandster, for a while anyway. I am glad that you don't need feel the need to give a darn what they think! You're doing a great job and should be very proud of yourself!!!! Don't let em get you down.

Welcome, Zoe!!!! Wow, your boss is truly wise! And that is so applicable to the yo-yo dieting that most of us have done! Best wishes for your weight loss journey. I, too, am in hurry up and wait mode. Grrrrrr.....

WooHoo!!! Another Texas gal! Are ya'll seein' a pattern here? Welcome Kim! We hava a lot in common...I, too, have high bp, my father died fairly young of heart problems, there are others with heart disease in my family, and my goal weight will be around 140. I'm not banded yet, but hoping to be soon! -
I've noticed that most of the people on this forum have been banded for a year or less (mostly way less!). I am curious about the folks who have had the band longer. Like all the way back to the trials. I want to find out how the band still works for them. Also, I have heard that the lap band has been used in Europe for many years. Does anyone know of a site that gives updated info on people who have been banded for a long period of time????

Welcome, Jenni! Hang in there, it will get better!
-
Wow!!! I just read all 5 pages of this post. Ryan, I am not sure if you should be a writer or a therapist. Maybe both!
-
How long were you on liquids after being banded? My dr said six weeks, but I was thinking I had read about the liquid phase being much shorter than that for some people.
-
Marie, I am hoping to go with insurance, but will self pay as a last resort. I did call the insurance co and inquire about the band. I was told that it is possible to have them pay for it, but I may have to be persistant. Well, I can turn into a pit bull when I have to, so persitance shouldn't be a problem. Patience, on the other hand, is another story! Penni, I will see what I can do! Maybe I should just tell him we are having a hottie dr. contest and see if he will let me take a pic, LOL! Thanks, ya'll!
