    5 days out & I'm STARVING !

I remember going thru that, I think it's just a change your body is going thru. Mine only lasted a few days. I'm eight weeks out and I rarely feel hungry. I make sure I have my two protein shakes every day. Besides that I eat a Greek yogurt and very small portions of food.
  3. Not sure what a Johnny is but no just a scale you step on. But I didn't take my jacket off just to be safe.

    Pooping 2 days post op

I had it day of surgery! I was surprised because I thought the bowel prep cleaned us out completely. It continued for two days every time I urinated. They took a sample. Nothing came back wrong but it did have me worried.
  7. I was too close for comfort, Dr office told me not to lose weight, no preop diet, no two week diet, only the last two days. I did start the protein preop. But I was so stressed because I knew the last weigh in was at the hospital day of surgery. I went in with my heaviest jeans and had my jacket on when I stepped on the scale. Whew I made it! The nurse was talking to me saying I didn't look heavy enough, to be having surgery, and that there had been people that weighed in under and sent home because they no longer qualified.
  8. Pack on some weight before you go to the doctor for your first weigh in you are too close to not qualifying. Wear heavy or weighed down clothes...

    BILL ARRIVED

I received a call from the hospital pre-op and the person doing my pre-admission over the phone said I would only have to pay $475. Well started getting the bill my surgery was over $120,000. Insurance life time is $16,000 for WLS. After discount they are billing me over $33,000. I was floored! I was offered to be able to get robot assisted surgery, more precise never did they tell me the special procedure had a much higher price that went along with it. The bills keep coming in too.
  10. I got 8 weeks off, I work at UPS and are required to lift up to 70lbs. So I was worried about it. They were going to send me back at 6 weeks, but I told the PA about the amount of lifting and he gave me two more weeks off.

    Getting food stuck?

I have the RNY with silastic ring, I was doing great, no problems, then last Saturday I took my vitamins with small sips of water and I hadn't eaten anything and started drinking my protein shake. I only had to small sips and I felt super full, uncomfortable and took a gas-x. The pain in my chest worsened I stepped outside to walk it off. All of a sudden my mouth fills up with slime I had it all over my hands...so gross! I vomited some more. it scared me cause I had never heard of this. I think my vitamin had maybe blocked the opening and when I tried to drink the shake it didn't have anywhere to go. I now break the pill in half, don't want to do that again!

    silastic ring

Did you ever have any blockage or vomit slimy mucus? I found out it happens to lapband but it happened to me the other day. Since I hadn't really eaten anything but two sips of protein shake, I think it may have been from my vitamins...it scared me.
  16. I had the RNY with a silastic ring which is an additional tool to help you feel full and not over eat and stretch your pouch. I don't have diabetes, but just letting you know you have the option of the ring to go with the RNY.

    March 2014 Losers

Yes it is hard to tell who had what surgery, most important thing to do that I learned in my pre-op class is filter, filter everything you read or hear from others and try to remember what is specific to your surgery. At the beginning of my journey my doctors office gave us a handbook with do and don'ts to our specific surgery. What we can have at each stage and foods to avoid. I had RNY with the silastic ring. My stage one was clear liquid no red liquid from day 1 thru 7. Stage 2 day 8-14 full liquids including puréed. Stage 3 day15-31 soft foods small bites. Chew everything 20-30 times. But foods I was told to avoid that can either stretch your pouch or make you gassy I see a lot of people having, like beans, mash potatoes, hot cereal. I was given a guide of watch labels nothing over 10 grams of carbs or sugar. No broccoli, cauliflower, onions, and pineapple, citrus. For the first six months. Or until losing 70% of excess weight. Most all veterans I know have told me not to get discouraged with the stalls or plateau, they all went through them. Good luck to everyone. Did anyone have the Da Vinci robotic surgery? I had it I was the second person to have it done by my surgeon, I didn't have hardly any pain or gas feeling after surgery. My recovery has been great. But at my post-op class I met the person who was his first patient and she was miserable saying she regretted having the surgery done.

How to take vitamins after surgery

Actually it was the calcium citrate and my shakes have iron and the iron and calcium don't absorb together. I just ordered a bunch of chewable calcium I couldn't take the pill crushing of those horse pills! I ordered the bariatric advantage chewy Carmel's and peanut butter chocolate, and. Celebrate chewable calcium in fruit flavors. Our postoperative class gave samples and they are tasty!
