I am almost a month post op. Yes, I followed my orders to a "T" but I am still unable to really eat or drink. You can forget Protein Shakes, I barely get in 20oz of Water a day without feeling a very painful crushing sensation under my sternum. I also have tried several soft foods nothing works, even eggs I take 2 bites an have the same discomfort. I'm not sure if this is normal and will it get better. But in this heat I just long a big drink of water, something! But I sip and sip then end up hurting. Someone please give me some advice and let me know when this will become tolerable!

You will do fine.. but if the doctor asks.. make sure that you tell them that way there are no surprises for either one of you.. I would hate to hear that you were sedated and then woke up to find that your surgery wasn't done.. so be 100% honest with your doctors.. not trying to scare you!

Hello my VST folks. Friday August 2nd is my time to shine!!! Please keep me in your thoughts as I go under! I am doing exceptional as far as my mental state. I am going to get a good nights sleep and I will update you all on my status as soon as I can. Good Luck to all the other August Peeps!

Surgery was yesterday. I just got home. :-). Everything went really well! Lost 29.7 lbs on the liquid diet. My dr said had not been so faithful on the diet, he would not have been able to do the surgery as my liver was still enlarged! He had to make a couple extra cuts, I have 8. But the only pain medication I had was for the 2 hr trip home. I had to walk 20 laps (which equaled 2 miles) before I could go home. I'm also an a clear liquid diet till my follow up with him a week from today. So thankful for all of your prayers and encouragement! So glad to be on the losers bench!!

I'm haveing gastric sleeve surgery tommorow at 7am and I have been on an all liquid diet for a week. I just lost it and ate a cookie and a rib.. I was soo hungry.. Am I going to be okay??

Request it! Call your doctor and request it be added to the preop orders. It's your life and health! Insurance might have a hissy fit but in the long run, who cares. You will go into the surgery with piece of mind and that is worth more than anything.

All I have to do is labs. No EKG no chest X-ray..nothing. I want all the extra stuff to make sure I'm not going to die

Done and back at hotel with lovely pain meds. Went well - doc even give pictures ! Back hurts but not sure if that is from lying on bed or procedure! The one incisission that the excess tummy came out of hurts plus I have a drain A(in for a week). Otherwise it went amazing!

I want to have mine in Hawaii!! *pouts and stomps foot* Sounds so much more pleasant than Iowa

I'm having it in Hawaii with Dr. Fowler. My diet is Protein Shake s for Breakfast and lunch w/protein Snacks between and ending with small meal consisting of meat && veggies.
What's your diet like?

My EDG is in the morning at 7:00. Just wondering how it was?????
