  1. That explains my dad's weight loss. He was over 400 pounds. Unfortunately for him, he has gained back some of the weight he lost with gastric bypass and is now back up to 315 after 8 years.
  2. What do people use for Fiber suppliments. I was going to go to CVS after work today and pick up something to help get things moving (if you get my drift). The Fiber gummies looked like a good choice. My brother bought be prune juice after surgery, but all the sugar and calories turn me off. Before surgery, (sorry to be graphic) I went 3 times a day. After surgery, I'm lucky if I go once a day at all.
  3. Jenwebber-I don't use myfitnesspal even though I have it. I find it more confusing than loseit. I was supposed to see my surgeon on Monday, but he canceled my appointment and I wasn't able to get into him until October 29th. By then I will have my first fill. I know I need to drink more Water. As for walking, for my (and my DDD chest) walking is too strenuous on my back and actually makes me work harder than the ellypitcal. I am doing just a low impact on my machine. I'm fine for 15 minutes--just gets me sweating, no straining. It's a relief to hear that other people out there went through the same thing. I've had family heckling me about not losing more weight. My father went through gastric bypass and dropped a ridiculous amount of weight quickly. It was just disconcerning to be working so hard and eating so little and see no results.
  4. I was banded on October 2nd. I am currently 15 days post op. The day of my surgery I weighed 353, today I weigh 345. The first week after my surgery the weight came off about 2 pounds a day. Every since October 7th, however, I have not lost any weight. I am baffled because I am eating 800-1000 calories a day, I am drinking 2 bottles of Water a day (it's as much as I can tolerate now), and I am exercising 15 minutes per day on my ellyptical. I simply do not understand why I am not losing weight. Do I need more Fiber? Less carbs? What? I don't know. My typical day looks like: Breakfast: coffee with 2 tbsp. 1/2 1/2 1 scrambled egg Snack: Ensure or a pouch of baby food Lunch: 1/2 cup cottage cheese (or today I am having 1/2 cup of tuna with light mayo) Dinner: 3-4oz fish 1/2 cup mashed cauliflower Snack: sugar free popsicle My lose it app (usename nmsinclair1) says that I am having an average of: 40g fat 1800mg sodium 71g carbs 12g fiber 28 g sugar 93 g Protein PLEASE HELP!
  5. I'm 9 days post op and my port sight hurts still too. It especially hurts if I sleep on my stomach at night.
  6. Hi there! I am 9 days post op and I gained 2 pounds as well. I feel as though as soon as I started the mushie stage my body was starting to switch out of the starvation mode it was on during the liquid diet. I think all our bodies need time to adjust (i hope) to the band. I mean, if I'm eating 700-800 calories a day, there should be no reason that I should gain weight right? It's impossible. Try adding more physical activity in your day? Today I went grocery shopping and felt like I had a work out because since surgery I've barely walked more than 50 feet in one day. You're not alone! Nicole
  7. I take the GNC women's chewables. There are 2 fruity gum like chewables.
  8. Does anyone else get gas pains every night? I can set my watch by it. I get a sharp pain on my right side that goes away while I sleep. At first I thought I pulled a muscle, but when I got it again the next few nights I knew what it was. I determined that if I eat a high Protein dinner I get them. I am 7 days post op. Will they go away later on or will I have them forever now? I've tried walking, moving around, and gas x strips to no avail. Has anyone had success with beano?
  9. Thanks Missy! That was very helpful! You always give the best advice
  10. What does full feel like with the lap band? When I say full, I mean not to the point where you get the tightness in your chest. I'm having a hard time telling or maybe even just scared.
  11. I was day 6 today. I read on another drs website that his patients could have cream of wheat. So today I thinned it out and had half a cup for breakfast and the rest as a snack later on. I was fine and satisfied.
  12. Name, real or screen: Nicole Goal weight for October 31st: 335 Weight on October 1st: 359 Age: 27 City/State: Connecticut Dietary goal for October: learn how to use my new lap band Exercise goal for October: use my elliptical 10 min every other day Personal goal for October: drink more water Date banded: 10/2/13 Total weight loss since banding/pre op diet: current weight 344 (10/8), total so far 25 pounds! Favorite Halloween Activity: dressing my dog up
  13. Sugery went well! I will be happy to never have surgery again though, haha. I finally am starting to feel normal today. Still a little sore around the incisions. Gas pains are my worst enemy this week. Discovered last night that a heating pad helps tremendously.
  14. I HATE jello to begin with so no worries there. Perhaps too many Jell-O shots in college? Haha.
  15. I am only 5 days post op. today it kicked in that I need to measure my food. My eyes literally are bigger than my stomach now!

  19. Is baby food considered a full "liquid" or a mushie? I am on the puréed strained soup full liquid stage. So far tomato soup is my jam. The dietician wrote down that I could have 3 tbsp. of cottage cheese as well. So my question is can I have puréed baby food?

  21. My gas pains were so terrible last night they made me vomit. I feel your pain!

  23. They did. I had a patch behind my ear and later got an Iv injection of anti nausea meds. I threw up after they gave me a certain type of meds to drink. I threw up at home because I was so hungry it was making my tummy upset.
  24. When was the turning point for people post op? I'm on day 3 since surgery. Wounds sore. I'm having trouble getting out of chairs, the couch, bed, even using toilet paper after going to the bathroom. Was this normal for you too?
  25. Has anyone else vomited after surgery? I threw up twice the first day. Threw up once last night, but I think it was because I was soooo hungry that my body was fighting back. The see through liquids diet sucks.
