  1. @@Ladiec2, it says in the requirements that you can do either six months or three months, depending on who monitors your weight during that period. My surgeon is a center of excellence and having them supervise my diet for three months was sufficient.
  2. congrats! i'm glad you found it easy.
  3. have you tried things like the Syntrax nectar, which is Protein powder with flavors that tastes like lemonade and fruit juices? i just got some and will be trying it this weekend. hang in there!
  4. did you explain to your doctor that you were vomiting after eating and that's why you're not getting enough calories in? perhaps you can get a prescription for an anti-nausea medication that will help you. it's so important to get your Protein in, and if you don't eat enough calories, your body will hold on to what it already has and it will negatively impact your weight loss.
  5. instead of giving the surgeon the records, can you have your PCP write a letter stating that you are eligible? mine did and it got through without giving dates and specifics.
  6. thanks for the update! i hope pathology comes back with good news.
  7. and.... they still say pending additional information from the doctor. called the doctor's office who said they faxed it over earlier this week. sigh. trying to stay on top of it, but doesn't seem like i'm being very effective at it. still hoping for a 11/4 date.
  8. @RJ'S/beginning, i'm so sorry you've gone through everything you have had to deal with. i've read your posts and have always been amazed at how positive you remain. you always have an uplifting word for others who are having post-surgery issues, and because they came from you, they were more meaningful than anyone who has had an easier road. i hope your present state of mind is only temporary and you bounce back soon. attitude is everything, right? and yours has been an inspiration to many of us. you have every right to feel the way you feel right now. let it out and let it go. hugs from Maryland!
  9. i've been waiting over a week. i called the insurance company to follow up and they told me they requested additional information from the doctor. i called the doctor and they said they were on it... i'm going to call the insurance company again today. patience is not one of my strongest virtues.
  10. wheeeeee! i can't wait to do that! congratulations, great NSV!
  11. is this the one you are all using? Musclegen Research GENEPRO Genetic Tri-Protein Peptide Powder i'd like to get some since you are all so happy with it.
  12. i am counting the days until 11/4. only 19 to go! and 15 to go before i have to start my 4-day liquid diet. i am starting to get a little somber in light of the seriousness of the surgery. not scared, just feeling it as more real than an abstract idea in my mind.
  13. thank you, @@luvinitcuzican, for the post. i too am a Type 1 diabetic, and it is very frustrating that people don't recognize the difference between Type 1 and Type 2. Understandable because Type 2 is so much more prevalent, but frustrating just the same. to reiterate... i will ALWAYS have diabetes. even my SURGEON was uninformed about this. he tried to convince me that i would be "cured" after surgery. this caused me to cancel my surgery the first time around. i finally had my endocrinologist speak to him, and he is now set straight. i just didn't want him to be giving wrong information to other patients.
  14. I'm telling nobody from work, even those who are close friends. I told my family members who I know love me unconditionally and will support me. I told my four best friends, none of who know each other or any of my other friends because they're all from past lives and so there's no chance of any leaks there. I told my guy because he lives with me and will be taking care of me. I may add to this later, but right now, this is it. (I'm scheduled for 11/4)
  15. nov 4, at least tentatively. waiting on insurance approval. i can't wait!
  16. i have tears welling up reading your post! i'm so happy for you. keep on rocking that sleeve!
  17. i have seen only SOME people say that, and only for a short while. don't fixate on that point, please. i hate vomiting also, but i know that if i do experience it, it will only be a temporary part of my adjustment.
  18. i think you should wear whichever one makes you feel more comfortable dancing. if you're not comfortable, it will show. that said, if they're both equally comfy, i'd go with the dress. it's not "trying too hard" to just TRY! no reason not to put what you think is your best foot forward, regardless of what you want the outcome to be.
  19. i found "Drinking Water" for my android. i haven't used it so i can't give a review.
  20. got this list from http://www.upmc.com/Services/bariatrics/approach/post-surgery/diet/Pages/soft.aspx Post Bariatric Surgery - Suggested Foods for Adaptive or Soft Diet Protein Sources All varieties of fish and shellfish Turkey breast or chicken breast (chopped, white meat) Low fat deli lunchmeats Sliced or grated low fat cheese (5 grams of fat or less) Hard boiled or poached eggs Soups (dilute with skim milk or add finely minced meats) Grains/starches Hot cereals Unsweetened cereals softened in skim milk Baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, or yams Boiled Pasta, noodles, or white rice Fruits/vegetables Canned fruit (in own juices or Water packed) Soft, fresh fruit without skins (apples, pears, peaches) Bananas Cooked or canned vegetables Avoid raw, fibrous vegetables like broccoli and Brussels sprouts. Avoid skins and seeds.
  21. i agree your doctor sounds unduly prejudiced. i just want to make sure you have your facts straight... do you have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes? Type 2 can be put into remission with WLS, but Type 1 is forever.
  22. it's true, the sizes have definitely changed. i have no idea what size i will end up when i finally get out of the Xs! i think it will be a kick to wear anything smaller than a 12, which is the smallest i remember wearing in college.
  23. one of the previous posters mentioned that she realized she wouldn't die from being hungry. this helped me too a lot, and here's how i found it out: i had to do Clear liquids only before my endoscopy/colonoscopy for 24 hrs. i was HUNGRY, but i survived. and i even felt GOOD afterwards. so my suggestion is: pick a day that isn't going to be stressful, maybe one where you will be at home, and have a day of just liquids. it will help you prove to yourself that you can do this. it will make you feel lighter, and you will lose a little weight. and after that, you can refer back to the feeling of hunger urging you to eat and remember that you don't HAVE to eat just because you're hungry. just a thought.
