  1. My first goal is to be able to fly to Arizona with my sweetie for Thanksgiving. I've been avoiding airports because it's so hard to walk and I'm so uncomfortable sitting unless I spring for first class. I will be about one month out at that time, and I don't care about not being able to eat the food, I just want to go! We'll be having TG dinner at my cousin, and staying with my sweetie's kids. One lives in Phoenix, one in Tucson, and my cousin is in between.
  2. ok, i would think at 9 days out it is entirely normal for you to be tired after exerting yourself. you're probably not even on "real" food yet!
  3. sorry, thought this was from yesterday. try to relax, you will be fine.
  4. thanks for sharing! congrats on your great progress.
  5. how long ago were you sleeved? how far along are you in your recovery?
  6. wow, @@Bufflehead, you sound like a gourmet cook with those recipe ideas! thanks!
  7. i go to bed now at 8 just to avoid eating at night! serious! lol
  8. this is a common theme, it seems. i suggest you call your insurance company and have them send you their requirements, as every plan is different. i did, and it was very clear and straightforward. good luck!
  9. i have aetna also, and asked them for their requirements, which they promptly emailed me. all they care about is no net gain, which means at the end of your visits. however... i suggest that you also call and ask them to send them to you, as it's possible our employers have different plans with different benefits and different rules.
  10. @@shmily, @@Babbs, i'm very sorry for your losses. i lost my dad and i miss him every day. i'm totally not wishing my mom gone, i'm crazy about her and mostly we have a great relationship. however, i did need to rant and rave, and now i have, and now i move on.
  11. each insurance company has different requirements. call them and ask them to send you their requirements. i did, and they sent me the document via email and it was very clear.
  12. i ordered a bunch of free samples or individual servings to taste them. there was a listing of them at http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/173041-where-to-get-protein-foods-and-samples/?hl=+free +sample ugh, i can't get the link to copy properly... the "+sample" is part of the link. just search here in the forums, or google the web, for Protein powder FREE SAMPLE
  13. oh, she is a drama queen, and she already said "i know you're under a lot of stress, but we all are" as if anyone who is worrying about my surgery is as important as the one who is HAVING the surgery. sigh. it's the cross i bear.
  14. @@spelmanite10, my bday is this friday, and my surgery is either 10/21 or 10/28. my surgeon's requirements are 4 days liquid only before surgery day, so i'm cool for celebrating my bday. pizza! NYC pizza!
  15. love her to death, but really... i'm so tired of having to worry about her feelings when all i can think of is my impending surgery (in 2 or 3 weeks). SOMEHOW i hurt her feelings yesterday while discussing plans for my birthday this Friday. we're having dinner at her house (she is not cooking, i want pizza), and i invited some of my cousins, and she's upset because i don't know who is coming exactly and she didn't like the way i reacted to her being upset. i guess i may have sounded a bit short... but geez, i was at the office dealing with work. awww crap, now i feel like i should apologize, but seriously, i'm so tired of this. i wish i could just hide in a room by myself (well, with my cats) (ok, and my boyfriend) (but NOT my daughter and mother) until after surgery. ok, i just sent her an email saying i'm sorry her feelings were hurt and that it was unintentional, without apologizing for what i said (i have no IDEA what set her off this time). i'm still in the mood to rant and rave, but i've run out of topics. maybe i will go fire someone lol.
  16. 22 pounds in one month??? that sounds amazing to me! don't forget when you read posts about people losing much more than that: make sure you look at their starting weight, because the more you weigh the more you lose, but it's all proportional percentage-wise. please try not to compare yourself with anyone else, as we're all different. would you be disappointed if you read the latest best seller in 2 weeks and your friend read it in 1 week? the outcome will be the same. relax and enjoy the journey!
  17. i think it's a good idea to give your stomach a rest. happy birthday!
  18. now i want an oreo. if we tell you it's ok, will you be more likely to do it again? if we tell you it's not ok, will you feel guilty and eat them again out of guilt? you know you slipped, and you know you need to not do it again for as long as you can help it. do your very best, and make yourself proud of you.
  19. guys, i woke up today so anxious and scared, i was crying. i can't wait for this wait to be over, and i don't even know if i'm going to be 10/21 or 10/28 yet. i called the insurance company yesterday to see if i've been approved yet and it's still pending. my mom just gave me grief on the phone that i "stressed her out" yesterday and i can't/don't want to deal with that. my birthday is friday and i want to spend it with her, my daughter, my boyfriend and as many of my cousins that can make it (at her house, cause everyone lives near her in brooklyn ny except me and my boyfriend in maryland). she's upset that i don't know exactly who is coming yet. geez, we're just ordering in pizza!!! now i feel lousy about her being upset, and i feel even worse that i don't want to have to care about her feelings right now. i want this to be all about me! i'm babbling. i'm just having a bad day, and i want to go home and go back to bed until it's time for my surgery. good luck to all who are getting sleeved today!
  20. i am feeling very fortunate right now, because my primary care doc wrote in his letter that i have had over a 5 year history of obesity. he hasn't even been my doctor for 2 yrs! good luck in this crazy balancing game!
  21. @@VSGAnn2014, you are a riot! i love your 7 lbs of 1/2 pound weights!
  22. Well. There is no law saying you can't call his office and tell them you have some questions you forgot to ask the doctor. Make sure you write them down first, so you won't blank out again, and then just read them off. The surgeon is getting compensated, and works for you! Also, there may be someone else in the office (a nurse practitioner, etc) who can answer the questions you have. Call.
  23. Welcome, Mark.
  24. I hear your frustration. I'm currently waiting to hear if I got my insurance approval too, and I can only imagine how I would feel if I got denied. And to get denied by mistake, as it sounds like you were, would make me pull out my hair! Hang in there, I've seen many cases of appeals being successful.
