Thanks Alex, It was denied for insuficiant medical notes. and because they feel the surgery is ivestigational. So now I am trying to get the medical noted that they want then I can work on the investigational part. How long did it take you to get approved. Thanks for the reply Amy

Well I guess I will not be banded on the 27th. My insurance company denied me. I am getting a lawyer and will appeal. Anyone ever get a denial overturned? Amy

Thanks you all so much. I have learned so many things from all of you. And just knowing that you all have been there and done that really makes me feel a bit more at ease. I am going away on the 15th of Oct. The day after I get back will be the day I start my liquid diet. I just really hope that I am approved. I don't want to have to go through the appeals process. I was laughing about the clothing thing. I haven't been shopping in 2 years and I wear the same few outfits that I have over and over. I can't wait to get rid of them..lol Thanks again. Amy

Lainie, Congrats on the first step. I am just finishing all of my pre sugery testing. I have one more appt. with the psychologist on thur. and then I am DONE.. It goes by quick but be prepared to be busy..lol Good luck. and Good health to you. Amy

I can't believe I am alsmost done with all the pre testing. In about two weeks I will be able to call my surgeon and get a date for surgery... I wonder how long it will be untill I have my surgery. the quicker the better. I just had my upper GI. Man did that stink!. I hope my stress test on Monday and Tuesday will be easier..lol Anyone have to have a nuclear stress test. I am a bit Nervous.. Amy

I know it just sends me right back to when I was a kid and my dad sitting in his chair smoking his pipe. It is so hard for me to remember him at all, but when I smell that scent it is so easy to picture in my mind... Amy

That touched me . and also reminded me that I am not the only one who feels like a prisoner. Thanks for sharing. Oh and when I need to write an appeal letter to my insurance co. Ohhh You guys are giving me the chills.. I love this stuff. Ok Here is are my favorites. When I was younger my Nana passed on and left me her favorite music box. I left it on my dresser, never touched it, just left it there. On special days, birthdays anniversaries.etc. That little old music box would start playing. It was not even scary it was soothing to know she was wathching over me. My Daddy died when I was 14 and he comes around every now and again. I can smell him. Like Donali said about the cig. Smell. But I smell My dads Pipe tobacco he smoked some apple cherry stuff. My Brother hears my dad whistle some times.. Amy

Donali, You look great! Congrats on getting the jeans on. I get so bumed if its cold and My Hubby offers his jacket I can't even put it on. But maybe someday if I have the surgery I will be feeling the same way you do. Amy

Congratulations! I bet your very excited and nervous all at the same time. I think the hubby's get scared and don't know how to admit it so they come across as being unsupportive. My Hubby can be like that too. I finally got him to admit that he was affraid. At least you have the support of your friends and of course all the great people here. I am going to see my first set of Doctors next week and I am getting a bit nervous that they will find something wrong with me and I will not be able to get the band. I was wondering what kind of things would cause me not to qualify for the lap band. I have heard of so many conflicting things. and I know this should be a question for my surgeon but I forgot to ask. Also, did everyone have to have a stress test before getting their band. If so what is it like. Thanks so much. Amy

Hi Kim, I am at about the same point you are. I did already get the go ahead from my PCP and met with the surgeon But I just wanted to let you know I know how you feel I wa so affraid that my PCP would not be on the same page as me I went armed with tons of info and let me tell you If I was this prepared while in school I would have made straight A's all along..lol But to my surprise My PCP was totally on my side and I never needed all the info I had with me. She gave me my referal and now I am off and running. I Have an appt. with the cardiologist and pulminologist this coming week. I have Aetna insurance and they wont cover the surgery either. So I wish you oodles of luck. and who knows maybe we will be having our suregery dates close together...lol Amy

Thanks for the responses! Marie~ I will be having my Surgery in Syosset Hospital in NY. Dr. Alan Geiss. I am looking forward to getting all the testing over with ASAP. Paula~ I have already talked with my INS. Co. They claim that if I meet all the criteria that they will pay but my Surgeon said they have always denied the patient at the last Min. So if they pay I will be pleasantly surprised but I will not expect them to. Leatha~ Thanks for the luck I can use all of it that I can get...lol Thanks Amy
