  1. I am feeling pretty good. Just sore more than anything. In the beginning I wasn't worried about food. I've been doing chicken broth and Protein shakes and Popsicles. I'm kind of over the Jello. I am starting to get hungry. I see my doctor tomorrow so hopefully he will put me on soft foods. Then ill have more options. I'm still taking it easy. But I feel good and I'm glad I went with the band. I believe it was the best choice for me. How are you feeling? I know the first couple days were kinda rough just bc of walking and stuff. I do sit with a pillow across my stomach. Also you may want to get gas-x pill either the chewable kind or the kind that dissolve bc I was miserable the other day my chest was so tight from the gas and when I took one I felt alot better. Ask your doctor though. It's just kinda hard to burp in the beginning and that's why they want u walking. It helps

I've been having Water and broth and have started to feel hungry in the last hour or so. I am still really sore so not at the point of thinking I made the right decision yet. My shoulders hurt. Oh my do they hurt!!! But I'm just hoping that each day ill feel a little better and the band will start working for me :)

  2. Hey guys! I just had my surgery this past Tuesday July 30th. I was 389 when I started and with my pre-op diet I lost 14 pounds. I too had to eat all my fav foods. I know and hope eventually I can enjoy them again just in a different way. I'm feeling good. Just to the point where I'm tired of the liquid diet that is after surgery. I'm so ready for my soft mushy food diet. I found out about this site last night through a girl who is apart of the norton weight management support group on Facebook. This is great we have all these ways to support one another and to get each other through the highs and lows of our new beginning.

Hi brittani, I was banded today. My starting weight was 399 and I lost 22 on pre-op (which was for 4 weeks). How are you feeling a week out from being banded?

  3. I think we need to just take 1day at a time. It is good to have long term goals but also need to have short term goals. I bought a charm Bracelet and for every 5 lbs I lose I get to add another charm. Just small steps toward the big goal!

I have done the same! I bought a pandora fixed bead bracelet that fits 5 beads on it and I plan to buy a bead for every 10 that I lose. I'm hoping that having a bracelet on my wrist and seeing it when I open the fridge

  4. My date is 8/14. Anyone else nervous? My surgeon only requires a few days of Clear liquids. It sounds like each surgeon has their own preferences. Anyone want to be buddies through this process? I know we can all get through the diet and surgery- we just need to think about our goals we want :)

Happy to be buddies :) I think the more support we have the better we will do!!

  5. Hi - I am brand new here - my first time. I'm scheduled for my lapband on 8/13. I'm nervous but excited. I've started my 2 week pre-op diet and I'm on my 4th day. Surprisingly' date=' I'm not doing too bad. Can't believe I've not had any diet pepsi in almost 4 days!! Even though they say you can during the pre op diet, I decided to just cut it now since they say no carbonation after the surgery. The part that seems hardest for me is that a lot of my social time was around eating out with friends/family. SO I'm feeling rather lost and kind of deprived. I lost my husband 3 years ago and I have eaten out a lot since then with friends/family and so this will be a huge change. I'm ready to get this weight off though. I just need to be sure I keep a variety of "legal" things available that I can have. For those of you on the pre-op diet, do you eat any fruits vegetables during the day, in between your morning and lunch Protein shakes?[/quote']

Welcome Teri! My pre-op diet was for four weeks. I have one more day to go before surgery on Monday. I was allowed a bowl of green vege and sugar free Jello as well as three shakes a day. I have lost 22lb but I have eaten things that I shouldn't have so I'm hoping everything will go smoothly on Monday.

  6. Ok so I know where my headache is comming from now. Day one of my pre op diet and I can already tell I am going to be hell on wheels...I would not have it any other way because I have my eye on the prize! A healthier me

Tamara I felt awful for the first four days of pre- op. Bad headaches, no energy, and just downright horrid. My surgeon said to expect bad headaches for the 4-5 days due to sugar and carb withdrawal. You will feel better soon :)

  7. I am in the last days of my preop diet! My surgery is Monday also!!!!! My surgery is at 1:30 in afternoon. I am so ready. How are you doing?

My surgery is monday morning! I'm feeling very nervous (mainly about the anesthetic) but excited at the same time. Really struggling with the pre-op diet this week. I know it's my last chance to eat before liquids so that's all I want to do!!

  8. My pre op diet starts this Wednesday and I am haunch trouble sleeping. I keep thinking I won't be able to keep the diet. I need support can you guys help me please.

Renee the first four days were the worst for me, after that it got easier. I have had a couple of little slip ups but have still managed to lose 22 pounds after three weeks of pre-op. One more week to go:)

Be prepared for headaches (from the sugar/carb withdrawal) and stock up on diet soda. It has been my life saver! And don't beat yourself up if you do slip up. This forum is a great place to find support and inspiration. Good luck!

  9. One week to go... I can't believe after waiting for so long, I am only 7 days away from getting banded!! Three weeks of pre-op are done and dusted and I'm now 22 pounds lighter. I met with the anesthetist today and he talked me through what to expect on the day. Feeling more confident that everything will go well and that August 6th will be a life changing day :)
