  1. I actually feel my port more now than right after surgery' date=' however it is only sore after I exercise or lift too much and I just put on an ice pack for a bit and I am good to go. I am 15 days post op. It really gets better everyday!![/quote']

I have only felt mildly better each day.. But woke up today feeling fantastic! Ok still some tenderness at port site but I can move around better. Downside is I'm also feeling soooo hungry :(

  2. Three more days til surgery for me! These last few days are moving at a snails pace. How is everyone doing that has been banded and how is everyone doing still on pre-op? Any words of advice from those of you that have recently been banded? I would love to hear how your experience has been so far.

Hi musica 73! I'm 5 days post-op and finally feeling better today. I have struggled with being sore but the worst part has been the gas pains. Omg they hurt!!! Some tips would be to buy a heat pack if you don't have one. It really does help with the shoulder pain. Pack a Chapstick for the hospital, your lips get dry after anesthetic. And keep on top of your pain meds even if you're feeling ok. I was slack with mine yesterday because I was starting to feel better and boy did I pay for it last night!! Good luck :)

  3. I am struggling with just being on liquids. I am starting to have more hunger pains. I don't want to over do it so I don't get sick. I think it is hard to gauge how much til I'm full. How about you? Are you still feeling hungry? I haven't had the gas problems but you might try some prilosec. Several people I know with bands have used it and it decreases the acid. I crush it and dissolve it in Water and take it daily.

I know how you feel, it is hard to gauge how much because it feels different. I have been hungry but not wanting to have fluids be ajar of the gas pains. Fortunately I'm feeling better today and am not so sore. I also jumped on the scales after promising myself that I wouldn't and was thrilled to see I've lost 5lb since surgery! I will try Prilosec, thanks for the tip :)

  4. Angemc' date=' I am 4 days post op today and it seems like our stories are identical. I had a follow up yesterday and because I am still struggling with the chest pressure( which is primarily from the hiatal hernia he said) I am to remain on Clear liquids for 2 more days. Sunday I graduate to stage 2 . I had a much better night last night, actually stayed in bed from midnight to 6 am which is a huge improvement. Feel less pressure this morning so I am hopeful the worst is behind me. I go back to the dr next Thursday and he said I won't get a fill until 6 weeks post op...

Hope you have a better day today too![/quote']

Ms Kat I'm the same! Sunday I can graduate to stage 2 (yay!) and slept better last night than any other night. I am also feeling less pressure today so I'm pleased about that! I was starting to feel like I wasn't going to improve. My surgeon does the first fill after 3 weeks. I'm booked in at 3 1/2 weeks post op.

  5. I am 3 days post op and have a follow up appt with my surgeon today. I am struggling with the gas pain in my chest and shoulders...had a rough night feels like I am having difficulty breathing from the pressure. I think they will start me on phase two today as well. I am barely getting down clears but do better with the warm broth. Hoping tomorrow is a better day! How is everyone doing?

I am 4 days post-op and have also had bad gas pains in my chest and shoulders. They ease after a couple of hours but it is sooo uncomfortable. My port site hurts to lay down and sit up with. And I can only lay on my back to sleep but am more comfortable sitting on the sofa. My heat pack has been my best friend the last few days!! I have mainly been sipping Water and sucking on Popsicles. I had broth the first two days but feel over it now. Looking forward to some soft foods in a couple of weeks, like scrambled eggs! But my surgeon said I have to wait till two weeks after surgery. Thin liquids the first week, then thicker liquids in the second week, then soft mushy foods in the third week. When is your first fill scheduled for?

  6. How are you guys feeling? How are you doing mentally with the food portion and post band diet? I have to admit that I am struggling today. Anyone else dealing with some post band emotions?

I'm over feeling sore and gassy today! My incision sites are painless but my port site is really annoying me, and every time I drink I get gas pains! I have to keep reminding myself to go slow. I'm getting frustrated at not being able to sleep comfortably and being limited physically. The housework is starting to pile up and I just want to do it!!

Are you struggling with being on only liquids or just the portion size? I am finding myself thinking oh it's lunchtime I need to eat when I'm not even hungry. I'm also finding myself wanting a sip of Water but not wanting to deal with the gas pains again. It's frustrating.

  7. It's day 4 for me now and I've realized that the discomfort I've been having is definitely gas. I wake up in the morning and feel fine, then as soon as I have something to sip, the pain starts and lasts for a couple of hours. The pain is to the left of the port site and radiates to my left shoulder. So trying to sip less and sip slower..

As for the weight gain, I too have put on 3 pounds since the surgery. But have been told to expect that because of all the fluids that have been pumped into me. So I'm trying to be strong and not look at the scales for a week or so!

  8. I am 5 days out' date=' and have the same thing. It is getting better each day. I feel best in the morning, but as i drink thru the day, i get waterlogged and feel like I'm stuffed constantly. In trying to work with my schedule and change how I'm drinking and when.[/quote']

I felt ok when I woke up but as soon as I started getting fluids in the trouble started. I desperately feel like I need to burp but can't!

  9. yes as you are still very much swollen on the inside and it hurts going down....so its best to sip and sip and then sip some more...as the days progress' date=' it will get easier to swallow and easier to eat/drink more..just follow the guidelines they gave you in regards to post op diet (liquids etc)...its vital to allow yourself to heal properly..dont rush it......be patient sweetie, you can do this...congrats on your surgery[/quote']

Thanks :) maybe I need to sip slower! I'm thinking maybe its gas? I walked gently for a couple of minutes on the treadmill today and that seemed to help.

  10. Are you even suppose to be eating now I had to have broth sugar free Jello or sugar free popsicles for like 3 days ' date=' go on the and look at the lapband post op diet if your doctor didn't give you the papers for the diet and you will know what to do look it up you can find it on the computer , hope you feel better.[/quote']

No I'm not eating.. Thin liquids only. But I am having the pain after sipping broth or juice or even just Water.

  11. Can you elaborate more on what it is you feel/ felt? During those first days' date=' I had to take TINY sips and pace myself. It took me 40-45 minutes to down a Boost shake. I'd take a zip, close the bottle... Wait and take another sip. Regardless of how careful I was, I would sometimes feel a little pain in the center of my chest, like a gust of gas trying to come out, but wouldn't get passed my throat. It has gotten much better as the days go by thank God.[/quote']

I have only been having thin liquids - my surgeon said it needed to be of the consistency that I could drink it with a straw. So Water, v8 juice, broth, and thin smooth Soups. It feels like a whole lot of gas is trapped in my tummy that I can't burp up and my tummy is making terrible noises!

  12. stomach is sore. like i did 500 sit ups... have a lot of gas that seems like it won't go away and can't get it all out. .. nothing spreading to my shoulders though which is good. i dunno how in going to feel when i run out of the pain medicine they gave me

I'm still on pain meds which seem to be helping. I am having gas problems as well. I feel like I want to burp but can't!

  13. I had banding today and I was pretty miserable until they adjusted my pain medication' date=' then it as been tolerable. I am more comfortable sitting up than lying down. I'm not having any incisional pain but my stomach itself has a deep dull ache. I should get to leave the hospital tomorrow which would be nice but glad I was in tonight. I am not having any gas issues except for a small amount in between my shoulder blades which is to be expected especailly since they inflated my abdomen. I am not hungry yet but I think that is due to the pain medication aswell. Hope everyone else who has surgery thus far is doing well. I just keep reminding myself that it is all for the best.[/quote']

I am now two days out and still feel more comfortable sitting rather than lying down. I had terrible shoulder pain yesterday but today it's more in my abdomen. I started to feel hungry after about 36 hours. But after I have something to eat I feel very uncomfortable, and my tummy makes terrible noises!

  14. Was banded yesterday morning. Totally felt like a truck ran me over' date=' but woke up this morning feeling a bit better... I know once I make it through the next few days, things will start to feel more "normal."

I'm surprised (but not complaining!) that I don't have more gas pain (I remember it well from when I had a c-section 3 years ago). Just pain on my left side where my port is.

I'm excited for the days to come! :)[/quote']

I was banded yesterday too!! I was prepared for gas pains after my c-section but haven't had any. My shoulders (mostly my right) have been giving me hell though!! I'm just hoping I wake up feeling a bit better tomorrow. Not so much hit by a bus and more hit by a bike lol.
