  1. UPDATE ABOUT ME!

I am about to start my 4 weeks of post op. I feel WONDERFUL' date=' I'm at about 25 lbs down so far.

I have zero appetite and can only eat exactly 1 cup of food before i start to feel an internal "stretching or tightness" ( my cue to stop) Usually eating 3-4 cups a day

the areas around my incisions are EXTREMELY itchy!!! but i healed up great!!

Sometimes i have a little pain when i sleep on my stomach and this morning was the first morning where i couldn't eat solids ( felt pretty tight) wore off by lunch!!

But other than that i feel pretty good!! no bandster hell ((i got VERY lucky))[/quote']

Cwinkler it really sounds like you are in the green zone!! My doc says I will have very little appetite and interest in food when I'm in the green zone. You might be one of the lucky ones that never needs a fill!! :)

I remember the itching!! Mine itched for a while too but all good now! I'm eating about 3 cups a day as well (1 at each meal) and like you, anymore than that and I feel soooo uncomfortable! I get a feeling of tightness and needing to burp which are my cues to stop. I'm banded six weeks now and have lost 38.5lbs. I have had two stuck episodes (aghhh they are the worst) probably because I'm still learning to chew slow lol. The second time I was able to being the food up which helped right away. Sounds like you have been lucky, but also that you are working really hard toward your goal so well done! Have you had your first fill yet?

  3. Well I've been trying to avoid getting on the scales everyday but after yesterday's 1 1/2lb loss I got on again this morning (I think just to make sure the loss was still there lol) and I was down another 2lbs! What is that all about?!?! It's like my body finally realized that's its not being starved and can let go of some fat!!!

    How is everyone doing??

  4. Bandsters my weight still hasn't shifted either! It seems to be really common amongst most of the banded at this time. I'm hoping the fill I'm having next week will turn it around. I don't have any real restriction yet at 4cc's so hopefully if I keep getting fills I will be seeing that sweet spot soon! I've had a couple of bad days but have been trying hard to eat well and exercise. It's hard to keep the motivation up when the scales keep showing the same number but I keep taking it a day at a time.

  5. What about transcripting. You know the lingo all you might have to do is a couple college courses or if you know some drs or someone that does that....that might work. Check into it also check into something that might have a desk job.. have you checked at the hospitals that might be looking for an experienced nurse to do office work. Just a few ideas. I'm sorry it didn't go as planned. But maybe this is the road meant for you. God Bless...Stay strong.

My friend who is a nurse does transcribing from home because she is a single parent and finds it much easier with her kids than when she was working at the hospital! Was today a better day at work?? Hope so :)

  6. It was awful today. I realized I need a new job so I started filling out apps tonight. I haven't had a headache or heartburn since surgery. Went back to work and in 1 day I had headache and heartburn in 2 hours. Ugh. I feel terrible.

Stress has the worst effect on your body. Good on you for recognizing that this job is not going to help your weight loss journey. I have learnt the hard way that my happiness and health are more important than any job. I was in a very stressful job for the last two years and aghhh if momma ain't happy.. Ain't nobody happy! I was so glad to be able to let it go. We don't have as many $ coming into the house each week but I have more time and energy for my kids, myself, my hubby, and my house! Good luck with the job hunting! :)

  7. I go to the doctor Tuesday for my first fill. And right now I'm discouraged bc I feel like I have been eating like my old ways before the surgery. It's just I'm more hungry right now and there isn't much in my band but I have aimed some weight I just hope he will fill it bc I think that's why I'm hungry like I am. And I pray once I get this fill it will slow me back down on eating and I can lose weight

I know it's discouraging but remember until you are at the right fill level and in the green zone you are just dieting. And let's face it, if we were great at dieting we would have lost our excess weight years ago and wouldn't have needed to be banded! I feel exactly the same in terms of hunger. I really hope your doc is aggressive with his fills and gives you a couple of cc's. My doc will only do 1cc at a time. Idk if that's normal but I've spoken to others who get 2cc's each time. Good luck for tomorrow :)

  8. I know I shouldn't have but ate a few bites of watermelon within 3 min.had to throw it up. 1st time for that but I know I'm rushing my full liquids. I suppose there are strings in it. Dummy that I am the referral gas pain moved also to my upper back. Aaarrrhhh. I should have learn it 1st time around.

Hope work goes good tomorrow. You're a pro. Did you say you were a nurse? What type of work do you do? Good luck...be strong!!!

Did the watermelon get stuck? Hope you're feeling better now :)

  9. Ugh have to go back to work tomorrow. It has been such a good break. Stress free. Worried about going back and not taking care of myself. I hope I can stay on the road I have been on. I have made this change and may need to make one in regards to work.

Stay focussed on your goal and take the time to take care of yourself. I know when I was still teaching I would skip meals to get work done and pay for it when I did get a chance to eat! Let us know how you go. Good luck :)

  10. I definitely thought I would be down more weight. My husband thought I would be more as well. I keep telling myself that my body is adjusting and I should only be losing 1-2 lbs a week not 5 (I wish). I eat mainly Protein. I don't do well with carbs so I eat a lot of eggs, meat, cheese, and take my mvi twice a day. I am more worried about Hair loss.< /p>

Are you having trouble with eating carbs? I am taking a Multivitamin everyday but nothing else. I have heard that Biotin is great for hair, skin, and nails as well.

  11. A family member of mine who was banded and lost 135lbs told me that bcuz you lose so much so fast in the beginning your body will eventually start to hold onto the fat/calories etc and no longer allow itself to burn off fat in order to self preserve. She said it takes time for body to realize it will continue to be fed and doesn't need to hold onto what it's consuming.

Rosianna I have heard this as well... I know I just need to keep doing the right thing and it will pay off for me, but it is just so frustrating!!

  12. It seems we are all going through a bit of a low where no weight is coming off, or even creeping back on! I am just SOOOO frustrated with it, as I'm sure you all are too... The last three days I have just given up. I have eaten anything that I wanted. I have stayed away from the treadmill. I have not counted calories. And everyday I have told myself that I will turn it around tomorrow. But the next day comes, and my frustration takes over and I make bad decisions again. Another bandster buddy told me that it is normal because our bodies need to adjust to the sudden weight loss we had after surgery, but three weeks of staying the same?? All I can think of is that even though I'm eating healthy, maybe I'm eating too much? Aghhhh. I really don't know how to turn this around!!

  13. Has anyone been on vacation yet after their band? I went out of town over the holiday and I felt tight. I had been to a different city with even higher elevation and had no problem. I did sip some coffee' date=' someone suggested that and it did help.

I am scheduled for a fill Friday. I have only been able to eat 400-700 cal a day and am not hungry. Don't think I need it. Still having problems getting in all my fluids.

I did not have access to the forum over vacation and really needed all of you![/quote']

Welcome back lol!! :) I haven't been on vacation or changed elevation so I don't know about that one. But definitely sounds like you don't need a fill. You might be one of those lucky ones. Is the weight still coming off?
