1. Hello my band buddies... I have been AWOL for a month or so now, so I'm sorry for not being there to support and encourage you all. I have been stuck in my own "poor me" downward spiral and have not been in a great headspace. I have stayed away from the site because as strange as this sounds, I have tried to pretend that I don't have a lapband. Silly huh? But I have really been struggling with the restrictions - the small bites and the chew lots. It has taken my satisfaction away from eating, and as I medicate myself with food, have found myself in a place where when I feel sad, mad, tired, or stressed, I struggle to make myself feel better. I have been eating the wrong foods but my band is keeping me at small portions, so I have not gained weight. But I haven't lost any either. I haven't had any more fills but am planning to schedule one for next week. I really need some words of encouragement to get me back on track xx

  2. Hey guys im new to this site and well i really want to get a surgery becouse I NEED IT. And well all this story's i read are just great. I am scared to start thow, and also i live in West palm beach florida.. Any one know of any reccommended surgeon i can start with???

Welcome!! There is a tab at the top of the screen for surgeons.. you might have some luck there. I'm in Australia so I can't help lol. I was banded on August 6th and have so far lost 41 pounds, and I can tell you that I don't regret getting the band at all! Although I have had success with weight watchers in the past, this time around I needed a different tool. Best of luck with your journey :)

  3. Let me ask this....does anyone take alot of pills and how do u find the best way to get them down? I have to ask for tabs so can crush....caplets have a hard cover...as a few of my meds do. I try to crush some and mix with something but not all the time. I just don't seem to be able to find the best way to do it yet. Suggestions are welcome!

I take a couple of tablets but have no problems getting them down, including my multi which is a big one :)

  4. donna450/donna

    Goal fo 9-30: 185

    Todays wt: 187

    Goal for10-31:

My fill date is wed also first one but not sure it will happen. I'm having too much trouble getting all my pills down and eating. Or just have trouble getting most foods down. So we'll see what the dr says. Not losing too fast either but several weight gaining pills.< /p>

    Good luck to everyone.

    Good job Donna! :)

  5. Thank you for the information' date=' on your fill's. I will definitely need another one then. My doc said, I had the larger band (not sure how much cc's it holds). I'm at 2.5 cc's now. How are you getting your Protein in? Are you still doing Protein shakes? I'm still doing 2 a day.....I still haven't tried bread yet.... I'm scared. However; I have had crackers, etc.[/quote']

My doc said I have the larger band which is 14cc. I have another fill booked for next week but I'm a little more apprehensive about how I will feel after this one. Just because the last one has made me tighter in the morning and makes me bite smaller and chew longer. I'm not in the green but don't want to start having issues with food getting stuck.

  6. Thank you so much!!! I feel a slight difference.....I just started yesterday on regular food again.....Are you in your green zone yet? I will probably have another fill.....

No I don't think I am in the green... definitely noticing a difference with this second fill though. Not in terms of restriction but what I can eat and how I eat it. bread has become a little difficult to pass through the band but I have adjusted to it. My doc only puts in 1cc per fill so I'm now at 6cc in a 14cc band.

  7. Had my first fill today. Had 2.5 cc's. Have lost 22 pounds in 6 weeks. Probably would have been more' date=' if, I would exercise more. However; I will take, what I can get ; ) Feeling elated! Hope all my banster buddies are doing well!!!![/quote']

Jama11 that's fantastic!!! Congrats on your weight loss! Have you noticed a difference in restriction after your fill?

  8. Yes I have many blessings in my life.

As of the 23rd it has been 6 weeks when I started preop. As an average I have lost about a 1/2 lb a day for the last 42 days. Feels good that I'm making progress.

I'm finding that I am doing other things to keep me busy and when not I am finding I can sit still and not snack. It's wonderful to know that with the band working together towards one goal it feels good without the feeling of deprivation.

    Congrats :)

  9. You sound very busy. Young ones all around. Lol

My two daughters are adopted but sisters. We got them when they were 21 mo old and 34 mo old. So they are 13 mo apart. It was like we got twins. They are 34 and 35 now with our oldest g-kid 17 yrs old. He's one of 6 grand babies.

I worked mostly in retail. My hubby has had his own businesses sice 1978. So I've worked mostly with him. Early on we owned a marina' date=' cottages, and grocery on a mid size lake up north indiana. Moved to florida in 1989 and soon began a business in computers which we still have today. We're retired now but that's me in a nutshell. I love working with children. You must find it very rewarding and twin girls ...beautiful I bet....takes me back. Have a good day.[/quote']

Yes it is busy but I wouldn't change it for anything. I feel very lucky :)

  10. Hi angemc I don't know what happened but somehow I'm no longer "allowed" to view the posts in the "August bandsters" forum. I don't know if you can help me back in somehow' date=' but if you could I would greatly appreciate it :)

    Thanks!

Hi soccerturtle! I'm not sure why you wouldn't have permission to go to the August bandsters group.... Have you tried going to your subscribed threads in your profile? You should be able to access the group from there. Let me know if that works! How are you going?

  11. Maybe ive asked you before but my memory is not snappy anymore. But where do u live and how old are you? If you don't mind. Hate to be too nosey.

I am 63 mentally disabled since 1996. I've had my bouts with depression' date=' anger, suicide attempts, and at least 3x a full year at a time in a mental ward with lots of weeks inbetween over a 30 year period. I live in hudson fl about an hour north of tampa bay. We, husband of 45 years and one of our grown daughter and 2 g-kids 13& 6 live nearby. Other daughter in pa with her 4 kids. Don't get to see them often in person but skype frequently. We've lived here since 1989. We're retired now can hardly make our ss go month to month but live as well as possible and very happy. Waiting to win the fl powerball....like that'll ever hsppen. Lol

So thats me in at nut (excuse the expression) shell. Lol. I do have bioolar which is what the diagnosed me with. On meds and haven't been in a hospital for about 18 years. Meds work so does forgiveness.[/quote']

No I don't mind you asking at all... I'm 36, married with twin 5 year old girls. I live in Australia in Traralgon, which is a lovely suburb about an hour and a half from the city of Melbourne. I'm a kindergarten teacher but not working this school year.

  12. You're very welcome. You earned it.

I weighed yesterday and lost 21 lbs so far. My pain is less but something still inflamed. But eating good. Had about 1/2 scrambled egg and a piece of bacon. Having a strawberry banana smoothie for lunch using my pro. Pdr. It all went down good. Small slow bites...I'm learning. Lol

Going to movie this afternoon... I can control myself.....popcorn is not going to derail me. I'm feeling really good and up that even with the little pain I am doing it.

21lbs is fantastic well done! :)

I'm still learning with the small bites, and this last fill is pushing me to get better at it because if I don't bite small and chew well, it gets stuck!!! Up until now I could still eat normally with no problems, but not now !!

  13. I know exactly how you feel!! Any weight is a victory!! I'm down 3.5lbs for this month.

I was watching episodes of the biggest loser yesterday and it was making me so angry to see their disappointment because they only lost 2 or 3 pounds for the week! If I was losing that each week I would be thrilled!

Make that 5lbs for the month!! Woohoo just hit the 40lb loss mark. Seriously hoping my scales are working properly lol!!

  14. I called the doc and erica said that a slippage would be symtoms of not being able to eat or drink. Alot of reflux and alot of gagging just trying to swallow. Thank the Lord I have nothing like that. She told me if I still have the pain mon to call for appt. Load off my mind. Overdid today working cleaning this and that now site hurts pretty bad took a pain pill. I'm relaxing the rest of the evening. How are u coming along?

That's great news. I'm doing well. Getting my second fill today. And I've now lost 40lbs!! So happy to have lost 5 this week after staying the same for three weeks! I've got 4cc in at the moment and still not in the green zone. I'm eating more than a cup three times a day to satisfy my hunger so I definitely need today's fill.

  15. Best guess....chicken breast....not chewing good....over fill....I did all three several times over that period and now living with the severe pain near my port down and to the left underneath my left breast. I'm having full liquids but staying cimpletely away from anything substantial. If this doesn't clear up in 3 days I'm going to see the doc. Im going to stay away from chicken except maybe dark meat in a crockpot. I really have to learn the basics and stick to them when I start eating again. I guess I thought I could do my own thing. Right!!!! Thankyou for your concern.

Its hard to change a lifetime of habits.. I still catch myself taking big bites and not chewing well. Hope you're feeling better soon :)

  16. Weighed in at 233.6 this morning which means I'm down 2.4 lbs in September. May not sound like much but after 2 weeks of no change I will totally take it' date=' y'all! Hope everyone else is doing good!![/quote']
